Now, I was one of the biggest voices against a licensed chapter.
BUT...
I really like the direction the Silent Hill chapter is going. The killer is unique, powerful, and genuinely a force to be reckoned with. I think this is the correct way to balance: Make something too strong to begin with, and tone it down to an acceptable level.
My only complaint is the perks. Just gonna be honest; they're pretty lackluster. I'll have to see how they play out before I have a conclusive way to buff them.
But overall, I'm impressed. Good job, Devs. You've successfully perked my interest in the game after a significant amount of time away
Edit: I'm not saying that PH is overpowered, I'm just saying it's a good balance philosophy.

I wish they would start adding decent killer perks again. Honestly the last time we got a killer with more than 1 good perk was with the plague.

I hope it releases the 9th, although, that would be asking for much

I thought they would’ve added actual good perks for pyramid head but of course no. Just meh “stealth” perks that come with a killer that obviously doesn’t strike as stealthy. Demo, deathslinger, oni, and now PH all came with perks that are either bad or require other perks to be decent. Plague’s perks were the last strong ones that didn’t require extra perks to be viable.

I had to take a guess that since the ruin change they are just having a look to see how the game balance is standing. With the map changes as well, it might be a little while until we see something that has a lot of potiental to it.

Most likely the 16th. Cote confirmed on the stream that the chapter would release about 3 weeks after the start of the PTB.

I don't know how to feel about the perks. Yeah they're weak, but the way I see it, with licenses BHVR really only has two options, both unfavorable. They can either make the chapter strong and have people cry about it being pay to win or whatever, or they can not make strong perks/killer and have people cry about it being too weak and not worth it.

I used to love the prospect of licensed chapters...but this was the last time I will put energy in to brainstorming who the new killer will be.
It's just worth the disappointment and unjustified hype.
I will certainly not be watching anymore YouTuber prediction videos. I viewed one or two and it's really easy to acknowledge when people haven't got a flying clue what they're talking about.

Its not exactly uncommon to see killer perks that dont work well on the killer they came out on as they would on other characters. I think M&A on Doc is a perfect example of this. That's one reason that everytime new perks come out... I start looking at the whole killer roster to think of who could make good use of different perks and come up with some experimental builds to try. Sometimes things work...sometimes not so much. Either way though its kinda fun.

You should have just listened to the people who insisted that the 4 was shaped like Pyramidheads head. It was so „obvious“ and turned out to be fully true!

The only licensed killer I have is demo but this guy might be the second. The rest of them I've skipped.
One thing I definitely I won't like is the limited cosmetics.

I get what you mean, I do that too but it’s just recently killer perks have been really bad. Not saying they’re completely useless because they can be used with others but I don’t really like using 2-3 perks just so one can shine. Some recent perk combos are good like nemesis with pwyf and hex retribution with haunted. The thing I’m saying is there hasn’t been a good standalone or even meta changing perk for killer in awhile.

I must admit I was personally surprised it turned out to be Pyramid Head. I thought the pyramid shape theory, whilst making sense, just seemed too obvious.
I never believed the black/gold skull was of any significance, however.

In all fairness, typically when a single perk can change the meta entirely...its a pretty clear sign that its OP. I get what your saying though with a perk being useful without needing to be a combo. Alot of ppl started using thrilling tremors over BBQ when it got released and if you look at some of Otz's videos... he's got abit of a love for I'm all ears, lol. I know I tried making builds centered around furtive chase though and kinda fell flat. The only synergy I could REALLY find with it was for OG Freddy...who got reworked and lost that synergy, lol. Typically though killer perks arnt going to be widely useful to the entire killer cast. Infectious fright for example is a great perk... but isnt gonna perform too well on killers with a small TR or killers who cant quickly take advantage of the information. Great on Billy, kinda ######### on Hag. I'm personally a big fan of Surge, with it being on my Freddy since it was released. It's requirement of only working on M1 downs though has made it so I wont be equiping it on Huntress, even though I'd love that effect on her...

I actually predicted Pyramid head because of that.

I'm kind of sick of Licensed chapters right now. Sure, they are famous movies/games, but I would rather see new ones than old ones remade. A lot more effort usually goes into original chapters, and you can earn them for free.
But I agree with you, PH actually looks decent right now. That could change, but I hope they leave him alone.

It does but it’s kind of what the game needs if that makes sense? Nothing dumb like “chase a survivor for ten seconds and they become exposed.” But more along the lines of being out of chase for x amount will make you x amount faster, downing x amount of survivors will make your next basic attack a instadown. Both would be good for low mobility and M1 killers but not so useful on high mobility or one shot killers. Also please for the love of everything no more cool down perks with every chapter. That would make me happy. 🙂
P.S I’m all ears is an underrated gem 👀

As soon as i saw we have a killer that can hit ppl through walls with a ranged attack... Did EVERYONE immediately think of I'm all ears with that one? lol

At least it’s getting more praise now lol, the cool down sucks a bit but nothing will stop me from loving it. It’s my little wall hacking baby 💖

Same.
I thought PH would be a very bad idea. It strange to have him running about with his great knife, which I didn't see happening. I suspected they would of given him a weapon switch system sort of like oni between his spear and great knife but I'm happy they made the choice that they did. I do hope though that we get his spear and his old SH2 look as a optional skin purchase though sort of like michal and his metal pipe.
I thought for sure PH would be done wrong. I didn't want another killer who let loops happen in front of him, the moment in the chase where its disrupted and you feel most powerless as killer and I hated the idea that my old nostalgic love icon of silent hill would be subjected to that.
But they did good. They made PH able to heavily influence and even bypass attempts to camp at pallets and loops. Furthermore unlike clown who just chokes you a little and slightly decreases your speed. His status effect not only denies you powerful meta perks but opens the way for a mini mori. Instilling actual fear into being effected by it. He's basically a better clown mixed with a doctor in a sense.
Oh yeah. And his addon gallery is just big SH2 reference fest...which I love. DBD did a ######### better job making sh content than konami since the trilogy. Not counting silent hills purely because it didn't actually get finished.
