Should I level up a killer to get a perk or level up a killer I want to play
I'm sitting on a million bloodpoints and I would really like to level up Freddy because I think he's fun to play. That being said, I really want the perk nurses calling but I don't like playing as the nurse. I know nurses calling is a great perk for any killer to have, so is it worth dumping all these blood points to get that teachable perk, or should I just focus on Freddy?
I don't have a whole lot of free time to play this game which is why I'm at a bit of a crossroads here.

Go for the teachable if you really want it, you can always earn more bloodpoints.

Do both. In the end you want all good perks, and level up all/most killers. Nurses is a must have perk. Take your BPs and level up Freddy, than get BPs again playing Freddy to get Nurses in days/weeks/months or whenever you will get there.

Get Nurses Calling. It is a really good Perk which you can use on basically every Killer.
You can level up Freddy afterwards.
OR: If you can wait for Nurses Calling, you can level up Freddy and hope for Nurses Calling in the Shrine. However, this can take a while since there are only 2 Killer Perks per Week in the Shrine and there are quite a lot of Killer Perks.

I would personally unlock each killer's teachables first. That way, when you concentrate on upgrading one particular killer, all the perks have a chance of appearing on the bloodweb.

Yeah I was thinking about waiting until it appeared in the shrine of secrets but I think it appeared a few months ago so it could take quite some time before it appears again.

That's true, I could just level up Freddy and then play him until I get enough blood points again. I just wish this game wasn't so damn grindy. In-between work and parenting I only have a few hours a day to play this game so I wish there were faster ways to accrue bloodpoints. I have the doctor maxed out with BBQ and Chili which helps, but this matchmaking system can sometimes pit me against survivors that are far out of my league meaning I don't end the match with as many bloodpoints as I normally would. I don't care about winning just about hooking survivors which is where BBQ comes into play. But when you're playing against a red rank swf team, getting hooks can be incredibly hard to do.

Yeah, I would recommend getting Nurses Calling in the first place. You dont need every teachable, but this is one of the Perks which you can get the most use out of it.

The eternal question that is at the heart of this game's biggest problems.

Spend some on on both. If you like playing as freddy then you're going to benefit more from him having as many perks, addons and offerings as possible since he will be your pimrary bread winner for more blood points. Get nurse up a good couple of levels.
If you spend a good chunk on your main you get way more benefits.
1: More addons that you can use, may increase BP and rare.
2: More offerings for more blood points and moris.
3: You may not get the teachable perks you want but you will get other perks which will stop them repeating in the blood web after you max them. Meaning when you do get your teachable it will surely appear next time or at least have a much greater chance of doing so.
4: Prestige for that blood cosmetic...I mean...I don't prestige...the cosmetic isn't good enough to make me give up literally a library of perks and addons. I did it like twice nad probably never do it again. Prestige needs way more to it. Although I understand why people do it. It can be fun to start over in a sense.
If you drop them all on nurse you lost almost all your BP on a killer you don't play for a teachable that may not show up for multiple cycles.

That's a great way to look at it. If I dumped all these blood points for a single teachable perk on a killer that I don't play, then I'm left with playing with killers that I don't really have all that fun playing with just to get back to where I'm at right now. I think I'll level of Freddy. I may have to go without nurses calling for a little while longer, but if I'm enjoying playing the game and having fun then the grind won't be that difficult.

i say do both! but nurses at a later point, and if you want to learn nurse for the sake of it you'll have her leveled to play! (that being said if your on PC im down to help you learn nurse/act as a dummy survivor to practise against nurse)
So to suffice i'd say level freddy! have fun with the game man and don't focus to much on perks to make him viable or perks you enjoy using when you wouldn't enjoy the charecter their on as it might seem like a "point dump". the game is incredibly grindy as it is, and i think you should enjoy it with whatever charecter you enjoy it best with. That being said if you want nurses calling, theirs always waiting on the shrine or leveling her when you already have a killer in a viable position (ie freddy leveled.) You'll always benefit from having more perks to choose from as that just means more spicy builds, but theres nothing wrong with just playing what you enjoy as you enjoy it!
That being said... i used to think of charecters as point dumps when first starting the game. i used to only play bill as survivor, and only doctor/micheal 3 years ago. this actually took away from my enjoyment of the game because i was actively avoiding other killers and perks and only dumping points when i truly wanted something to either "make myself viable" or for a build i really wanted to play with. and then for kicks i started trying out other killers and builds in custom games and slowly falling in love with a lot of the wacky stuff i could pull off! i stopped slowly thinking of other killers as point dumps and started playing everything across the board (i now main trapper, nurse, doctor, micheal, freddy, ghostface and oni!) As survivor (expecially since i was playing with friends i didn't really start dwelving into other charecters until i really wanted their perks. i thought of claudette as only a "point dump" for selfcare and second skin for my bill, and nowdays shes one of my 3 most played survivors because i enjoy her. Hell i think i put well over 3million bloodpoints into my doctor before i even considered playing and leveling other killers in the game, but i enjoyed it!
that being said once i stopped thinking of killers as point dumps (im really throwing that term around a lot but i don't really know any other way to express my thinking) and started actively playing them it was DIFFICULT it was rough. i was already about rank 7 when i attempted it, and was discouraged heavily due to no perks and no real knowledge of how to play said killers but i was determined to get value out of their survivor puddings and bloody party streamers and welll... i really started to enjoy them!
This is in no way me saying you should enjoy nurse at all or think of her as anything other then a point dump for yourself for nurses calling, but more to call attention to that you should give her (and other killers) a shot once you've got your freddy leveled :) nothing stopping you from seeing the other side every so often, using up your escape cakes/puddings/streamers and going for dailys or archives to farm all the more bloodpoints <3
Plus as a side note - the anniversary event is coming up soon, with extra bloodpoints being a near garuntee (seeing as how other events work.) this paired with archives, paired with dailys, will make earning bloodpoints a cake walk so you shouldn't have to worry too much about spending them <3 go nuts
(And as a extra side note if you read this far, prestiging freddy can actually be useful - most would tell you its of next to no benefit besides simply gaining the prestige outfit, but the 30% rarity increase at presige 3, for green addons, perks and offerings is actually useful on freddy as a lot of his good addons are of green rarity or higher, and it makes them appear more often alongside other usual green rarity clutter like map offerings etc! also prestiging him early before the anniversary event means that you would keep any anniversary bloodweb gained items like cakes on him without risk of losing them after a prestige meaning you could tank a ton of bloodpoints on him during the anniversary at prestige level 3, and have someone you ENJOY playing with an absolute hell of a ton of bloodpoints on him! if you don't plan on prestiging at all thats ok! but just make sure to level him a ton also during the anniversary event, as its likely to have anniversary cakes as leaked through the ptb patch, that increase bloodpoints in every bloodweb!)

Unfortunately it's teachables. Don't be like me and level a character you like to play first. I no longer play either of them because their perks are such hot garbage it's not fun. Perks make too much difference to focus on a character you like.

Actually I already have the teachable barbecue and chili unlocked and I managed to purchase discordance from the shrine of secrets. I also have all the teachables from the doctor and the wraith unlocked. I know Pop goes the weasel is a great park for Freddy, but I could easily see BBQ, discordance, sloppy butcher, and maybe Bloodhound or M&A since I don't have nurses calling yet as a great setup for Freddy.
Edit: Or maybe instead of Bloodhound or monitor and abuse I could always go with fired up.

Pop, bbq, discordance, and dealers choice as to the last perk, you should be not just fine but godly with all that. Those three are pretty much the perks for fred.

I'd say go for the teachables first so you can get them easier when leveling up the character you want to play.
