Has there been a change in advancing the rift for the old tome?
I hadn't been playing dead by daylight for a while, and I remember that it was not possible to advance in the rift and obtain rift fragments if you didn't do the missions of the current tome, was this thing changed? because I was doing the missions of tome 1 and I was still advancing in the rift. If yes, can you explain to me how the fragments are calculated when you are not doing the current tome?
Thanks

The challenges of the previous time are not supposed to reward you with fragments for the current rift. Only doing challenges from tome 3 will help you to progress in the rift.
If you are getting fragments from either tome 1 or 2 for the current rift then it's probably a bug. The old tomes are only supposed to give bloodpoints and lore.
EDIT: You also get fragments just by playing the game so make sure you're not confusing these fragments with the ones in the tome.

you will still get fragments for the xp gains, maybe that is what you are seeing?

but aren't those fragments the same as those in the tome? are not both used to advance the rift?

Those are the same, yes.
You get 3-5 Rift Fragments via Tome Challenges, but only for the Tome linked to the current Rift (currently Tome 3). For 10 Rift Fragments, you get a Tier in the Rift.
Also 800 XPs award one Rift Fragment.

As the person above explained, they are both used to advance the rift. However leveling the rift goes a lot faster if you do all the tome challenges as it can take a long time to level up the rift just by gameplay alone.
Anyways what I would recommend is to focus on the tome 3 challenges for now until you complete them all or the rift ends. Then you can do the remaining challenges in the previous tomes after that.

So, tell me if I have understand correctly: you can advance in the rift in two ways: either by taking on the challenges of the current tome, or by gaining experience, right?
If yes, can you tell me how the experience is calculated on? What do I get 800 XP for?

Do you know your devotion level, that icon on the top right of the screen that is next to the currencies? It is based of that. You get xp for how long you were in a match up to a certain amount of time and that xp goes towards your devotion level and the rift. You also get bonus xp for the first killer and survivor game of the day.
You don't really need to worry about this too much as you get it for just playing the game. The time is the most important source of rift fragments.

I just copy the wiki for you:
Experience Points
Experience Points or XP are how one levels up their account. They are obtained after each trial and are calculated depending on the following factors:
- Time played in the trial (1 XP = ~1 second)
- Highest Emblem Quality
- 18 XP for obtaining at least 1 Iridescent Emblem
- 12 XP for obtaining at least 1 Gold Emblem
- 6 XP for obtaining at least 1 Silver Emblem
There is also a "First Game of the Day" bonus (300 XP), that can be obtained for either side for completing the first trial of the day.
And each 800 XPs you get 1 Rift Fragment, 10 Rift Fragments award one Tier in the Rift.
