Explain to me the difference
so played a game had a key to help do a stupid tome challenge. It's cool killer brings a mori with both pink and purple addons. So my question is whats the difference between surviors using a key and a killers using the most powerful addons against us. Keys are only powerful in the endgame but pink addons are useful the entire game. Yes keys our bad in the game but so our most pink addons.
Your turn. Thanks 😊

And he told me "saw a key so no mercy at all"

Powerful add-ons are meant to be powerful, but most of them often require a trade-off or their effect is simply to change how you play the game.
Amanda's Letter for example is a perfect example for both. She only has one Reverse Bear Trap but she is able to detect the auras of Survivors while crouching within 16 meters of them. There's also Black Incense which encourages the Plague to keep everyone sick and not use up her power to give them the ability to cleanse themselves. A power mind you, that rivals Huntress in terms of how dangerous it is at a range.
Keys don't really have that kind of trade off, same with Moris. That's why people want them to be changed because it simply makes the game incredibly easy for either side. People don't really have a problem with Killers using Powerful Add-ons unless those add-ons are something like Iridescent Head + Infantry Belt. Mainly because they know most Killers don't really have that powerful of an inventory of add-ons anyways.

Most killers have no problem with keys except that rng allows you to pull one out of your ass mid game and escape. Not only that but the entire team can escape.

Yeah i agree but I see it a lot of the time pinks are combined with another pink or purple to Make it super op.

They're both bullshit. Moris are a bigger problem than keys, but both should be reworked nonetheless.

Theres no difference between a key and a mori (depending on how those things are used)
Add ons are something else entirely. Hell a lot of the best add ons are green/yellow/brown anyway.

From what ive seen keys are used way more commonly and can be found on the map. Not sure how that equates to moris being worse.

My experience is quite the opposite, I see moris quite often, but rarely ever I see a survivor bring a key.
Keys are much more rare to find in bloodwebs, as survivor actually have a lot of purple/red rarity items available in the pool.
Ebony moris are on the contrary, the most common type of moris to appear in bloodwebs.
Moris can be used to wipe an entire team before even a single generator is done.
For a key to allow a 4man escape, they need all need to survive long enough to do five gens, locate the hatch and then meet up there.
A bad killer can still get a 4k, because he only needs to do 1/3rd of his primary objective (which is hooking the survivors to sacrifice them).
For more than 1 survivor to escape, they have to finish at least three out of five generators, which is already over the half of their main objective's progress.
In the end though, they both cut the game short, which is just uninteresting and bad game design, and as such they both should be changed.

Killer sees a survivor with a key and immediately thinks it's a pink key
Survivors see the killer offering not flip over and immediately think it's a pink mori
They both shorten the game...but one needs 60% of the objectives done while the other needs 25% (one hook per survivor)... both sound simple but they're not... unless both sides focus on their objectives (gens for survivors and hooking for killers)
And no one knows the intentions of the others (unless it's SWF and/or a message from the killer)

Keys and Mori should be removed/heavily reworked.
Both skip core game mechanics and are detrimental to the emblem system on both sides.
It sucks as a survivor to instantly be Moried after losing only 1 chase (1 hook) and it feels horrible as a killer to not get a pip because survivors escape via hatch.
The other issue is that the items themselves are not all that rare. I can pull a key in almost every match with Plunders 3 as a survivor (not really an exaggeration, I have such a stockpile because I don't use them) and as a killer I find a Green Mori every 1-3 Bloodwebs and Red frequently enough.

I'd probably bring a mori, no need to waste good add-ons.
In terms of the add-ons they can be good but they don't break the game. Keys can give free escapes that the killer can't counter if the key is still in the game. Pink and purple add-ons can be good but are counterable. Yesterday I faced a iridescent head huntress (with noed). She got 2 hooks the whole game. We even had an urban claudette in our team so we weren't in the best position.
Keys end the game prematurely. Good add-ons make the game tougher, but not too difficult the survivors can't beat the killer.

Both are fun, both are fine:)

I think they should rework moris to be usable when survior is on death hook like PH new mechanic

It allows survivors completely bypass the objectives and take away kills form the killer. So it's a good idea for him to bring op stuff and kill at least 3 of you before you get 3 gens done
0 -
So doing gens is bypassing all objectives? Then lets talk about how its fair to take out players after a single hook.
1 -
Just as fair as being able to get out without doing a single thing. You bypass the objective by not finishing the gens or gates and getting out early

Well this has been fun. Thanks for the inputs. Have a good one yall be safe.

I'd have brought a Mori just to be sure tbh.

Then honestly your team is just bad. A decent team can at least get 1 gen done when someone goes down unless you can't loop for you life

Feel like your math is abit off

Is it... lol I've never been good with %

I mean, you're not wrong. I'm usually solo queueing, so I run Kindred, and let me tell you, I've seen some #########. Quite a large portion of red rank survivors still belongs in yellow/green ranks.
