(Pig) Rng shouldn’t be a thing share your moments

First of all i think pig is fine but the rng aspect can cause major frustration for both sides. Just had a game where I got a RBT placed on my head and the last gen popped, it was active on a swamp map. The four boxes where in each corner of the map and I got the worst luck of getting the first 3 boxes wrong, during this the endgame collapse timer was going and my last teammate left so i tried to find hatch. I died to the entity when I found it but it wouldn’t matter anyway because the pig was camping it the entire time waiting for me.. I’m not mad at the pig mainly mad at the rng of her power, share your worst rng moments involving the pig im interested in reading.

I could be wrong. But unless it has been patched or changed, I do believe each of the 4 standard traps is tied to the 4 boxes. The 4 standard traps (meaning without addon for more traps) are rng, but follow a specific rule. The rule I (and many of my friends) have observed is that each trap is tied to a specific box. Meaning the first trap she uses will go to one specific jigsaw box. The second will go to a different box but CANNOT be the same as the first box.

Think of it like this. Trap 1 goes to Box A, Trap 2 to Box B, 3 to C and 4 to D. The box that gets labeled as A, B, C, and D are randomized so they aren't predictable, but you can use this to your advantage.

If you see someone get their trap off at a box, then you can know that it is NOT your box (there are exceptions but I don't know exactly, only speculation on the way the addons add rules).

    The addon rule addition speculation.

If there is an addon to add an extra jigsaw box, it just adds a random element of rng to the search. Where Traps 1, 2, 3, and 4 could be tied to boxes A, B, C, D, or E now. As far as observed, it still follows that if someone else gets a trap off, then that box CANNOT hold your key.

If there is an extra trap addon (with NO extra box), it adds a Trap 5 that then gets tied to whatever box it would like. This is the least clear one, as it is hard to test and get info on since most Pigs do not get all 5 on different people. I am unsure if it follows in that traps 1-4 are tied to A-D and then the 5th is where it can be whatever box, or if it picks another number trap to double up the box on.

If there is an extra trap addon WITH the extra box, it doesn't cause all 5 Traps to be tied to each specific box. It uses the extra box rule, and then the random aspect of the extra trap rule combined, making it the worst of all to figure out exact details for the way it creates and uses rules.

I think that it was stated that a single box could hold multiple keys, meaning that both trap A and trap B could end up being taken off at the same box, while a different box would be empty.

This is actually incorrect I had a match when I was playing with friends where the pig had 5 rtbs and three of us managed to find it in the same box whilst the other two traps were connected to different ones.

Before the game even properly loads in all traps are allocated to random boxes some may have overlap some may not but before a pig has even placed the trap on you it already has a assign box to it this is specifically done so a group of friends can't just call out which box they got their trap on.

I have 100% been against a no add on Pig where I waited my turn for the box that was guaranteed to have my key and the person working the box got their trap off as well. So I don't believe that's the case all the time at the very, very least.

I said that it might have been changed. I know this was the case back a while ago, closer to her release. The devs might have changed it since people were catching onto the mechanics of the game and making matches against the pig even easier

Literally just had a match like this. Pig with double gears on the game. All boxes spawn relatively close. Get downed trapped and hooked, get saved, Pig comes back straight away, starts tunnelling me but the game didn't detect I was in chase for ages, Pig essentially tunnels me for half my RBT timer. Don't have DS, hooked again. Search three boxes, start searching the last one and my head pops. Very fun.

As the Pig, I once put an RBT on a survivor and as I was putting her on the hook the last two gens popped simultaneously. And her teammates opened one of the exit gates. She ran around to the boxes looking for a key. RNG screwed her out of finding the key but I found the hatch directly next to one of the Jigsaw Boxes and motioned for her to take it. Luckily the other survivors left in time so that was actually possible, the one good thing her teammates did.

Sometimes it's RNG that screws a survivor and sometimes it's their oblivious teammates. Guys, have some compassion for your fellow survivors and don't start the EGC if they just got a trap put on their head. Freakin' teammates deadlier than the damn killer over here.

Sorry, guess that's more of just a Pig story than an RNG story.

In rare occasions where everything lines up exactly right, I'll open the gate as the Pig and then in post-chat act like someone else opened it. :P

lol that's awesome. I'm on PS4, so no post-game chat for me.

In that specific case I was just screwing around, not actually out to kill anyone. Nea was the first survivor I put an RBT on because I decided I wanted some Deviousness points... and then two gens popped. I felt really bad for her. I gave up my points for closing the hatch. I'll admit I wrestled for a moment wanting those points, but... eh.

I wish I had some RNG tales to tell, but I usually don't get screwed by the RBT's RNG. It's either a tunneling Pig or a hook-farming teammate that's the bane of my existence in Pig games.

Perhaps not enough data was observed back then and that gave it that appearance. I remember going through youtubers content at the time I came up with the theory to try to confirm this and all video of games against the Pig did conform to those rules. It could have been very coincidental but it just matched way too much footage and games for me to juat accept coincidence.
