Did Hatch Priority Change In The Latest Update?

I've been in the situation many times as survivor and killer where you both wait at Hatch and always, unless the survivor can body block the 'close hatch' prompt from appearing for the killer, the killer always closes it as priority. But lately, since the update, the survivors have been able to jump in for free. The closing/stomp animation literally gets cancelled midway through it. Is this a bug or intentional? Because if the latter is the case, you need to give the grab back. Because otherwise survivors don't need to use their brains and be smart about escaping. And most likely, more killers will slug for the 4k, even more than usual, which will be absolutely crap to see. I'm just ranting now, but seriously, this needs addressing.

Everytime when I found the Hatch as Killer with a Survivor sitting on it, I had the priority to close it. So from my experience, nothing changed.

I spam the button and I haven’t lost to the survivor yet, honestly though if I did I wouldn’t be too bent I mean the game is over it’s a difference of a few BPs

As far as I know killers are the ones who get the hatch but dedicated servers may mess it up.

    Could be a latency issue.

I've never had a Survivor jump in before me if I was spamming spacebar, so no, I don't think it has been changed.

Couldl be a latency issue though, like Orion mentioned.

Yeah, could be latency. And it isn't something i'm bent over, more just confused by it happening more and more lately. It physically shows the close happening and then stops it. Like a grab denial.

@johnmwarner yeah, but in a situation where they use a key for a multiman escape and you are right on them when they do it, this could and most likely will happen and you'll be a chump forced to accept that 2/3/4 people escape in front of you.

AFAIK it depends on who has the better connection. If you're both spamming the same button, then whoever clicks it first wins.

From my own experience, nah, I've always had priority (killer).

@Doddle28 weird thing is, my connection is always good, and it has only been happening like this since the update. It's just got me curious is all. If the devs say it's a latency issue, alright. If it's a bug, cool. Otherwise i'm here scratching my head lol first grab denial and now this, question mark lol

It’s less a question of if your connection is bad and more if theirs is better.

One time Michael Myers and I hit hatch at the same time. I jumped and he stomped. I saw the stomp happening then suddenly he flew off into the sky and I escaped.

It was so funny...but I felt bad for Meyers...
