The latest Around the Campfire stream is a nightmare.

I guess the reason there wasn't really any chat control was because "Around The Campfire" isn't really an official, big dbd livestream. It's just devs playing around, which you could see reflected both in well ... What they were doing and in the viewer numbers. It was just a small stream where devs wanted to have fun, I don't blame them for doing this rather unprepared, and as for idiots ... You can never fully stop them anyway, that's the kind of people they are.

Walks in.
Looks at everyone crying and pointing fingers.
Laughs.
Leaves.

It feels rather like 90%.

Imagine still being racist and homophobic in 2020. So embarrassing. If you are a bigot, go and play something else. The people behind this game have shown time and again that they are inclusive of everyone.
If that upsets you, go and support something else. It’s really not that difficult. It always baffles my mind how much scum we have living in this world.

You know what they say, small minds speak loudest. In truth, they're a tiny fraction of the population, which is why they have to appear bigger than they are. It's also why the silent majority of normal people can't tacitly approve their behavior through inaction. A clear message has to be sent: they're not welcome until they learn to respect others.

So if I am getting you right, you want those cosmetics so that the people that target players wearing those cosmetics get banned?
Thats a horrible idea, a salty survivor can wear those cosmetics and report the killer for killing him with the excuse that he targeted him for wearing that attire.
1 -
You’ve misunderstood what they were saying.
They want those cosmetics in the game because the bigots will get vocal about it on social media etc... people obviously won’t be banned for killing anybody wearing those cosmetics. What kind of logic is that? The thing with bigots is that they can’t resist letting other people know that they’re a bigot. So having cosmetics in the game that are showing support to BLM and the LGBT community would bring out people’s true colours. Which would lead to the bigoted players being exposed and therefore being banned from the game.

Eh, I am still not sure, again, that will be up to the devs and art team, sooner or later that kind of things becomes a political statement and I really dont want none of that in one of my favorite games.
0 -
Bingo.
1 -
The bigots want everything to be political precisely so you'll complain about the inclusion of "politics" when, in truth, it's just a character's backstory, no different from Kate playing guitar or Nea being a vandal. That way they have a thinly veiled excuse for bigotry.

Somebody’s sexuality or race isn’t a political statement. It’s real life. The fact people focus so much on that part says more about them. In David’s backstory we learn that he is from Manchester. Why would it be an issue if in somebody else’s backstory we learn that their partner is of the same sex? It’s not forcing any agenda. That’s honestly just such a ridiculous thing to say. Gay people aren’t myths. They do exist. Why SHOULDN’T they be in video games?
9 -
Sexuality goes far beyond any simple backstory detail and you perfectly know it. I just hope that if they ever decide to add an LGBT character they know how to do it with maturity.
0 -
And even if they didn't exist, games feature ######### that doesn't exist all the time. For example, an ancient evil being that kidnaps people and forces them to play a game of life and death for eternity while it slowly feeds on their souls. That example just popped right into my head, dunno which game that's from.
3 -
Same as I said above, adding an homosexual character is not that simple because of the lack of acceptance in many parts of the world, Its not as simple as saying "this character is gay", that could bring a lot of problems.
1 -
Again, that says more about how people lack any common sense. They are completely happy playing a game about murdering people in a realm unlike anything known to man. But adding gay people into the mix? Step too far.
I have never and will never understand how somebody’s sexuality or skin colour can have such a deep impact on somebody else’s life. Too many people are just living lives consumed by hatred and can you really call that living? They don’t even make me mad anymore. I just pity them.
5 -
It really doesn't. You've just been duped into believing that thanks to identity politics played by bigots. Why is "Dwight's girlfriend was always supportive of him" a simple backstory detail and "Dwight's boyfriend was always supportive of him" a political statement?
7 -
If you have a problem with a gay character being in the game, simply don’t play. And if you’re too dim witted to realise that’s a choice you can make, well that’s a you problem.
That was a generalised ‘you’ by the way. I’m not aiming that statement at you specifically, unless it applies.

White people aren't accepted in many parts of the world. Black people aren't accepted in many parts of the world. East Asians aren't accepted in many parts of the world. Indians aren't accepted in many parts of the world. Latinos aren't accepted in many parts of the world. Atheists aren't accepted in many parts of the world. Christians aren't accepted in many parts of the world. Muslims aren't accepted in many parts of the world. Jehovah's Witnesses aren't accepted in many parts of the world.
_____ aren't accepted in many parts of the world.
Fill in the blank with any characteristic. Chances are, you'll get a correct statement. Should we make every game about transparent, shapeless, nameless blobs that just traverse a void?
7 -
Dont need to make this game political. EVERYONE has experoenced some sort of prejuidced person in their lives. How on Earth will you make a cosmetic for everyone.
Lol, first to wear "White Pride" will surely be harrased...leave the game alone....
0 -
What's political about people being LGBT?
As for "white pride", it's not like "white pride" is the hallmark of white supremacists who were responsible for some of the worst atrocities in human history or anything.
5 -
Its political for picking and choosing. You have a specific agenda...you arwnt for everyone.
1 -
Heterosexuals are already in the game, though. By your logic, adding LGBT would make it less political.
I have no agenda except wanting bigots to be banned from the game so it can be a more pleasant experience for normal people.
4 -
I never said any of that. I said we dont need special cosmetics...
Or maybe I disnt say cosmetics..lol..its what was ob my mind as I was writing...
0 -
That should never be a valid argument to something that should be moderated.
6 -
Never mind.

I dont understand why Im not able to respond anymore....
0 -
My comments are saying they need to be approved. I have said nothing bad here..
Just PRIDE for everyone...i dont understand...
0 -
It is moderated. The moderators took care of it

I'm talking about cosmetics...we dont need special xosmetics to show pridee in specific people...pride for all or pridee for none.

Yes I mean the advice of "just ignore it", I see that get tossed around all the time. While its good advice to a degree its not a solution to a problem.
This isn't just for the chat during that event, but I see people say this all the time as if ignoring issues somehow solves them.
1 -
The solution to tge problem is for the moderators to do their job, which they did. My advice was to the op to not let it bother them.
0 -
You don't have to buy or use them if you disagree with the decision not to include a white supremacist mantra. Vote with your wallet.
1 -
Or everyone can be seen as people and be counted....
Unless someones agenda only cares about certain people...???
Thats my last word on this subject. Especially since these cosmetics will never happen...lol
2 -
So you agree Black Lives Matter?
1 -
Ignoring them doesn't fix the overall issue. Also, some people don't have the ability to just sit back and watch stuff like that continue to ensue. Its disgusting behavior.
PSA: Everyone deserves respect from all walks of life. Happy Pride Month ya'll! 💜
3 -
Why is it so controversial for some people here the idea that we shouldn’t tolerate bigotry and hate speech? If someone is being outwardly racist/sexist/homophobic etc. they should be banned end of story.
4 -
Who said they shouldnt be banned?
1 -
No, the moderators doing their job fixes the issue
1 -
Yeah, honestly. I'm surprised some people are defending it.
5 -
i don't understand how inclusivity is so controversial in the forums when BHVR has literally tweeted their support of BLM and released LGBTQ+ discord and twitch emotes for pride month. whether or not it feels 'too political' the devs have made their stances clear and I think including in-game content like pride charms or a BLM pin or whole new characters whose identity is integral to their backstory and motivations is the next logical step. humans have cultural identities that shape how they navigate the world, that's just a fact. it's not an opinion, it's not a debate, queer people like me exist and it'd be cool as hell for DBD to follow many other game developers who actively include us by doing the same.
regardless, BHVR supports us. if you don't like that, feel free to find another game. I won't mourn your absence.
4 -
So you think to beat their toxicity, we try to force it out and report it when they try to spread it?
2 -
Nobody would be forcing anything on anyone, the devs would just be adding things many people want, for money (y'know, like how every business in the world works), and some others would break the rules and get themselves banned, leaving behind a better game for all.
1 -
Fair enough. Have you ever came across a racist or homophobe? I once came across someone called 'Allah is a nonce' and a survivor who called another survivor a 'dirty little jew' just for accidentally sandbagging him. Reported the 'Allah is a nonce' guy on steam and left the lobby, pretty sure he's not banned though. The guy who said 'dirty little jew' is also not banned on DBD or Steam. Go figure.
0 -
Y'know, I don't remember. They're just so forgettable, always saying the same #########, it's like talking to bots. What I can tell you is that if I did come across any, I made sure to report them. Always report these people.
0 -
Yep. Your idea would definitely flush them out though.
0 -
They'd flush themselves out, really.
0 -
Sounds like you want to drive away people with differences in politcal opinions that have nothing to do with the game...
1 -
How so? It's not my fault if they're offended by cosmetics and feel the need to use racist and homophobic epithets.
EDIT: Also, there's nothing political about adding LGBT cosmetics, the same way there's nothing political about saying that the Nurse is heterosexual.

Indeed.
