Finding friends in local

I have played a lot of dbd (on switch) and sometimes i see a friend from discord in a local lobby, however some of my friends that live further away from me in Washington and Cali i have not seen yet, i really want to kill my friends but im not sure how the servers work,since sometimes i get people from Canada and Europe in my lobbies, so could someone please enlighten me on how servers decide who you can and cant que up with.

    At that point you need to get together a Kill your friends round.

    Lobby sniping became almost impossible with the new MMR and Dedicated servers. There's too much delay and too many variables now, you'd have to keep creating a lobby, waiting for it to fill, see or not see said friend, close the lobby, reopen, wait to see who fills it, by then your friend is probably in someone elses lobby.

    What if i were to change my timezone on switch tot he one that they play form, would that effect it at all?
