The second iteration of 2v8 is now LIVE - find out more information here: https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/kb/articles/480-2v8-developer-update

Balanced 2 vs 8 mode.

In this mode, a group of eight Survivors will play a game against two Killers.

This game mode is available only for a

short period of times to not split the player base for too long:

06h - 08h (server time)

16h - 18h (server time)

21h - 23h (server time)

The two killers cannot choose the same character. You can invite a friend to team up and match as killers.

The first time a survivor is placed on a hook, the entity will block the hook for a short duration in which the survivor cannot be rescued from the hook when the confinement stage ends, a short sacrifice stage begins in which the survivor can be rescued. After 30 seconds in the sacrifice stage the survivor enters the struggle phase which lasts another 30 seconds.

There are 11 generators, and the base time required to repair them has been increased. The survivors need to repair 7 generators before they can open the exit gate. There are also 2 basements.

My inspiration for this was the 2 vs 8 mode in identity V which I think is pretty balanced. What do you think?

nah id rather them just balance the current 4v1 atm, i dont feel the game needs other game modes but it needs to be balanced so you arent forced to run meta perks as killer etc. or have certain maps that favor a one side.. i really enjoy the game and what it has to offer until you get those thing that break the game

I guess it could work but soon or later someone or YouTuber finds a way a playstyle that literally works 100% my guess would be one killer focusing on survivors while the other killer focuses on generators, since there would be always someone looking for anyone on gen, the gens that are already slower can't be done.

The issue with 2v8 isn't that the killers would be too powerful. The issue is, in fact, quite the opposite.

Survivors needing to repair 7 generators, for example, would mean that if the killers were each chasing a survivor, you'd have 6 out of 7 generators being worked on. Assuming they killed both survivors upon winning the chase (no hooks or anything) and immediately started chasing two more, you'd have 4 survivors to repair 1 generator. Even with increased repair time (which nobody wants), this would be so survivor-sided it's not even funny.

A balanced 2-killer mode would probably be something like a 2v6 with 6 or 7 generators that need to be repaired.

How about 9 generators instead of increased repair time?

Same difference, you'd have 4 people to work on 3 gens. Again, keep in mind I'm assuming the survivors die instantly, and it still comes up in their favor. There'd simply be too many of them, it's not feasible unless you want to add another killer.

Heh, finally a thread where it's not me who has to cite the IdV rules lol. Im a huge supporter ^^

I think it was an ~30 % repair ( maybe action penalty in general?) .

The best thing about this kinda reuleset is that its a multiplier to th normal ruleset, if normal mode gets balanced, its automatically applied to this mode too.

The biggest problem for balance tho might be that killers strength is hidden behind addons.
