Forced Penance - Oblivious or Broken???
MCote said on the 4th anniversary stream that Forced Penance inflicts Oblivious on survivors that take a protection hit. The chapter 16 spotlight trailer repeats this statement.
The in-game description on the PTB says it inflicts Broken.
So which is it? Oblivious or Broken?

Ah, I suspected maybe they put something in the comments. It wasn't loading for me. OOF.
@Peanits Thanks for the confirmation.

Any chance that mistake can become reality? Seems like it'd be a much more situationally appropriate debuff and more useful in general. Would probably make the perk a lot more interesting. The "am I chasing you or not?" is a mindgame I use a lot on stealth killers. Could make for an interesting perk.

Why not both?

Broken. He misspoke.

nobody will use it anyway
i went into it before but tldr the perk is awful both logically and practically

I think there is some potential for basement builds. They make a trade then you hit the guy with BT it should count as a protection hit, now he can't heal for 30 seconds. If you hook the other guy immediately it means they can't run out, rush a heal, and then make a play for the save as quickly.

NOOOOO, please i was so hopeful for it when i heard that it was inflicting them with Oblivious, i thought it was a feedback response
Making someone Broken for a few seconds after they have just taken a hit in a chase is so, so worthless

There is one very niche case where making someone broken is helpful and that is to prevent Styptic Agent. Is it worth bringing a perk to counter one rare survivor add-on, not at all.

It would only be used if broken time was something like 1.5mins MAYBE because only useful against super altruistic swf, 30 seconds is damn trash as it doesn't make a single difference if you start chasing the broken guy and also doesn't make a difference if you keep chasing the original guy u were chasing as probably broken guy will lose the broken and heal before you finish your chase hook and go back to find him.

if you ask me it SHOULD have been Oblivious, but it was Broken instead.
seriously though, imagine the duration of the perk being increased and it aflicting Oblivious rather than broken - it might actually be an intresting perk that way!
like, the killer could pretend to go after the original target, switch to the guy taking a protectin hit and the Oblivious Survivor wouldnt even know! There might actually be some potential in that idea! (especially when the timer was buffed to something like 60 seconds - that'd actually be a decent perk then imo)
but yeah lets deny a survivor who is currently mid chase the ability to heal up for 15 seconds instead.
finally a hardcounter for these pesky survivors selfcaring behind every pallet they drop! (for 15 seconds...)

And why not last for 60 secs and more.

If it was a mistake with the script, then why did the spotlight show the killer sneaking up on the survivor while talking about the perk?
Was Forced Penance supposed to inflict oblivious but was changed to broken late in development?

Probably because the script was given to a separate team in charge of making the spotlight video. If they saw "Oblivious" then they would think "how to do we represent that visually" thus we get a demonstration of what the script said.

Oblivious is better :/ , broken 30 sec is trash
