How to Buff Hex: The Third Seal
Just ranted about how useless blindness is unless going for a toxic slugging build. Gave some ideas to maybe change/buff the blindness status effect so that it actually has more uses. But anyway, at the moment it is a relatively worthless effect & is why The Third Seal is the worst of the Hex perks. So, easy solution. Change the blindness status effect caused by the perk into Oblivious.
Now I notice that maybe having the perk activate on a survivor after they are hit just once might sound a little too OP if it were inflicting Oblivious onto them. That might need a bit of testing to see if it is way too strong even for a hex perk. But even then the requirement could be changed to something else in order to apply the effect. Maybe it could apply to a survivor that unhooks another survivor, a survivor that has just been unhooked, something along those lines. It would actually make The Third Seal viable & could cause a lot of mayhem if a team isn't careful about how they play out a match when going against this perk.

No. Blindness is the only counter to OoO and third seal is the only reason i play hag and trapper at all.

It just needs to hide stuff like pyramid heads cages and pigs jigsaw boxes to be niche. Also i dont think it even blocks map reading which if it doesnt is pretty annoying.

Blindness as an effect also making lit totems appear dull would spice things up a bit imo.

The best way to buff it is to allow the blindness to remain for a period of time after the totem goes boom. Either that or each time you hit a survivor it stacks a different random status effect until the totem is broken.

my idea is to make it so while hex the third seal is active every basic attack applies oblivious for 30 seconds along with it's regular blindness affect. It would actually be a neat thing to try out and it would work well with hag.

Adding a scalling effect would be nice
For example first hit aplies blindness
Third hit mangled
6th hit oblivious
9th hit broken
In multiple or three's because the perk is called third seal

The only issue I have with this is in an ideal game you'd be hitting each survivor 6 times, that 6th hit being death. So you'd only really get blindness and mangled which, why not just run sloppy since blindness is useless vs a swf?

Boxes? You mad lad.

Blindness just needs additional effects tbh.
maybe make the field of view of the survivor smaller/blurr out the edges/blurr out stuff a little that’s far away/make the vision darker like during Deep Wounds etc. There is so much you can do with vision and blindness and just disabling not even all aura readings feels not punishing enough.
i also like the idea to make Hex: Totems look like dull totems while blind!

I think blindness should hide the killer's red stain, that would make it more powerful without being too intense, and can actually help the killer in the chase.
6 -
Make Blindness actual blindness instead of hiding auras. Have the survivors' FoV restricted by dark areas so they can only see a portion of their screen (exact percentage may need to be adjusted).
2 -
Better idea: Blindness makes Hex totems appear as dull totems. This indirectly buffs Third Seal, and makes Blindness more valuable if you run Hex perks.

I mean it is a hex its supposed to have something op and now it just sucks lol.

Blindness as a solo survivor is Sooooo much fun to go against. Not knowing when someone is coming to get you off the hook or where people are downed. Makes things more tense. I always run blindness traps on pig.
I agree they need to make changes to it.
Though personally, id love a third seal but for deafness. Like one of hags addons. Still hear music and TR and skillcheck prompts, but gen sounds, footsteps, killer noises like demo teleporting or Freddy blood from teleporting. Killet breaking noises. Even swf on comms would have a difficult time with it.

Pig's one is one of the few blindness addons I like. Ran it once with third seal and knockout just for fun and got a disconnect four (I wasn't even slugging that hard)

I did a blind slug build one time with old Freddy. Felt so bad i apologized to all of them after the game. Im on console so had to do it one by one lol

That would be disgusting on GF XD. I'd be down to test it in a PTB, but doubt it'd go through.
2 -
That makes so much more sense then what i was thinking
I mean the numbers can change, just the concept that each hit get's worse then the last
Probably won't be possible cause i think consoles will have a heartattack once you add to many status effects

Alternative buff to Third Seal- throw out the survivor's rule book, remove 'toxic' from your lexicon and slug away. All's fair in love and war.
:)

You must be playing the wrong game because it is super common for me to go up against a SWF. And most SWFs are on comms so its rare to get one not on comms.
This isn't about balancing it around the survivor's rulebook. I just don't think toxic slugging builds are fun. No one ever really runs these kinds of builds either. And if they do, most likely they would just run Knockout instead since it isn't a hex. Blindness is a terrible status effect at the moment & serves little to no purpose. So either change what blindness does or start making different buff changes to perks/addons that revolve around blindness.

What they need to do is buff blindness so hex totems appear as dull totems. This way third seal can last longer in the match.

3rd Seal is great for making the game harder in general. Oblivious would be great but I like my Blindness so maybe a separate hex or perk? Or maybe it stacks to Oblivious like Devour Hope stacks to Exposed?

THAT is a good idea. I dont really think 3rd seal needs a buff but blindness could use that for sure
