Pyramid Head is a C-tier killer. Change my mind.
I played him on the PTB, I also played against him. Facing him is too easy, unless survivors are potatoes. I looped a decent one for 2 pallets and 2 gens popped. It's insane (red ranks, of course) but this is how the game is now.
-He has no map pressure or mobility.
-His secondary attack is awkward to say the least. Also punishes you A LOT if you miss.
-His cages most of the time play against you unless you want to avoid a DS or something.
-He has no slow down perks. And mostly his perks are really bad.
I'm trying the adept, I'm downing survivors left and right, still getting gen rushed because the killer is like a bubba without a chainsaw or any information perk (like BBQ) that gives you map control or map information. If I kill them all, I get a Ruthless killer, but that's about it.
Everyone is excited, but he'll be forgotten after a few weeks, maybe used by Otz for some meme build or something, but nothing more. Mark my words.
Sorry if I offend any Silent Hill fan, but the truth should not hurt.

putting a killer in tier list at day one doesn't make sense, since meta strategies still haven't been tried or discovered.
33 -
I'd say B/low A.
Definitely not S tier tho that's for sure.
4 -
I'm judging him for that the killer is. It's like saying bubba is A-Tier because of PWYF strat.
1 -
That's your opinion, not 'the truth.'
At the very least, you can give him a week to settle a bit, give people time to find monster builds for him. Or you can make assumptions over a few games and call it a day.
15 -
He's B tier with perks.
I'm doing adept and its so painful at red ranks. I have nothing in my kit that's actually useful.
1 -
Some killers really benefit from perks. Freddie with Pop and Oni with Infectious for example. These perks make them so much better.
3 -
Exactly, I have serious reservations about people who are willing to make such a big decision about a killer who's only been out for 6 or so hours and refuses to wait for the meta builds. Like, that's just weird, dude.
6 -
I have to agree. Nothing feels different about him, and he is severely punished for using his power!
Just let the community have fun with him for now, I had 3 games as Spirit today and survivor's were DCing left and right
2 -
I'd agree as a base killer with no perks or add-ons, PH is very underwhelming. Good survivors feel extremely tilting to play as against him, as you miss your power one time and they gain major distance.
10 -
This. If you miss even 3 Punishments you're pretty much ######### unless they trip over themselves in the basement.
3 -
I can agree. I remember using good perks in the PTB and he might be B-tier at best. Doing the adept is insanely frustrating, even with a memento mori people gen rush as hell. And if you miss a few attacks you lose the game.
0 -
i'd rather play huntress, being able to flick her hatchets feels way better, survivors can also mostly hold W against him and be fine
3 -
Yup. It sucks cuz Im a solid red rank killer and have no issues securing my 4ks. But PH has NOTHING to work with.
Some of the hardest adepts have at least one or two good perks. PH has ######### all.
Thanks, BHVR.

I remember doing Deathslinger's adept (which is not a top-tier killer) and it took me like 2 or 3 matches. Doing PH's adept, I think I've already played 15 matches, and it's insanely frustrating at red ranks. I've even tried tunneling a few survivors to remove early pressure, it's useless, they gen rush even more.
I think I'll leave the adept for when the add the early game mechanic. It was probably the most frustrating session of DBD in a while, and I face sweaty SWFs all the time.
5 -
At red ranks, I 4k with bubba, pig, myers, wraith (in fact I feel like an unofficial wraith main), but this adept is painful man. He's a basic M1 killer with no helpful perks and an insanely awkward and detrimental power.
1 -
i wont try to change your mind.
i also wont support your statement though.
Day 1 is a little early to rank him in a tierlist. give it a month and we will know more.
7 -
I completed it fourth try with brown add-ons, don't use final judgement and use your cages only when completely necessary.
Ah, rank 3 btw.
2 -
I feel your pain. I've been trying to do the adept achievement for like few hours already and I feel like I'm going insane. This killer's gameplay is so boring, you can't use your power, because it's so easily dodgeable yet missing is so punishing; you have to play with his perks which I believe can harm you (revealing your position after kicking a gen); and every second game is on the new map which is complete trash. I feel like quiting dbd after this update.
1 -
Utter trash given my experience
Really disappointed
3 -
Dude, this game is trolling me.
I want to punch in the face whoever designed this killer. This is the most frustrating adept ever, and I even suck with nurse and huntress and those adepts were easy. I'm done for today.
5 -
I actually had the urge to uninstall for the first time since I started playing last June today. This adept is unlike anything I have experienced. Im gonna have to stop playing killer for several months now just to get one stupid trophy.
Like Coder said, you get genrushed like mad without anything to slow it down. If you camp you don't get merciless.
All other non top-tier killers had at least one meta perk to work with. Plague has corrupt, Clown has Pop, Legion has Discordance. This is beyond infurating and is the first time I have ever gotten this tilted on this game outside of Freddy matches.
BHVR did Pyramid Head dirty.
3 -
In the game where I almost got merciless I made the mistake of using his power to hit a survivor that vaulted at shack. She made so much distance on me due to the cooldown + the fact I was further back. I had to drop chase. I was punished for using my power. -_-
1 -
That's the problem with his power, it's not really THAT strong to deserve that punishment. You're already at a certain distance from the survivor, and his cooldown makes them win even MORE distance.
I think powers that are strong should have a punish/big cooldown, like billy's or bubba's chainsaw (which can insta-down) or nurse (which has the strongest chase potential). But PH's power give you one hit, not a down. It's sort of like Demo's Shred or a huntress hatchet, the cooldown of those won't let the survivor go to another jungle gym or make you lose the chase.
Rarely a huntress's hatchet miss let the survivor gain an insane amount of distance. Keep in mind distance is time on gens.
2 -
Just wish his cages were applicable in more situations. Half of the time they will hand deliver the caged survivors to teammates since other survivors tend to steer clear of the killer + one being chased, while denying you BBQ & Chili / Pop-goes-the-weasel, so you basically hold it unless there's another survivor in your immediate vicinity. Situational. Way too situational for a debuff you have to apply before-hand.
You won't be raw-hitting decent survivors with his ranged attack; it's best to use it at windows and pallets, but it's strongest asset is being able to bait Survivors into dodging while closing the distance, similar to Demogorgon or Deathslinger... But at that point why not play one of those 2? Demo has map mobility, Deathslinger has a small TR, Pyramid Head has... cages?
Those are my first impressions at least.
3 -
I think Demo is better, easier, more fun and less frustrating to use than PH.
1 -
PH is a solid killer if you don't play him like what was intended. His main power is like a doctor shock that hurts people, so you've got to play into the fact that there's a delay. That means trapping them or zoning them, that was likely intended. But his secondary effect, the cages, those you really shouldn't waste. Randomly chasing a survivor and caging them is such a bad idea, even if they are tormented you should be hooking them. Cages should be saved for snowballs or obnoxious survivor perks, not to undo your own map pressure and remove torment from 2 people. Plus, tormented survivors are slightly easier to chase.
5 -
Totally agree, I can almost guarantee that if they dont make any buffs or quality of life changes he will be even more rarely played then demo already is.
1 -
Too less time to test him but around low-mid A tier imo
2 -
C-Tier, sure. And Nurse is B-Tier. LOL
0 -
Nurse is S-tier, PH is C-tier.
Prove your point if you don't agree, as I did in my original post. Unfortunately "LOL" is not a valid or mature argument.
2 -
They really need to shorten the stun for Punsihment of the Damned. A 5 second stun?!? Are you mad? I understand it's so that it can't be spammed at loops but come on. Even if you hit a survivor it's not worth it cause they'll get a Sprint Burst while you're lugging your ass at a crawl for 5 seconds and you'll have to break chase. It's like a Bubba Tantrum, except you have to Tantrum no matter what, and it doesn't instadown. At least shorten the stun on successful hits with it. If I missed, fair enough, I messed up, I'll eat the 5 second stun, but punishing me for hitting it?
1 -
It's not even 24 hours later since release, give it time for people too make good builds with him. Most killers are bad until people spend time too make good builds, just give it time, he'll shine once a build is made for him.
0 -
So just be a m1 killer. Awesome
5 -
I think the 5 second cooldown is justified, you barely get slowed down when using trail of torment.
0 -
No, you can still use trail of torment, just avoid using your cages too much or you wont get those juicy emblems.
1 -
The Executioner is a killer that appear to not want to use his powers most of the time.
Rites of Judgment does not do anything on its own, aside providing him with Killer Instinct notifications that can be complelty avoided by crouching.
Punishment of the Damned is easily dodged unless the survivor is locked in animation or in a narrow space. Its better used as bait, leading into basic attacks.
Cages of Attonement shouldn't be used in most cases as they will just send the survivors into an unfavorable position where they will be easily and quickly rescued. Furthermore in cases where you would want to use them, you might not be able to since its not that hard to avoid the Torment status effect.
Maybe there is some incredible perk combo out there that nobody has figured out yet, that would make Pyramid Head amazing, but so far, on paper it does not look good.
3 -
Following BHVRs recent formula of allowing killers to have interesting powers with ridiculous downsides that make it feel like you are fighting the game more than the survivors. I would say he's probably going to end up in mid to low b tier. It is fairly well understood at this point that BHVR doesnt really have an interest in making s tier killers anymore since everytime they do they get heavily abused for it. They already said they dont want to lock strong perks behind paywalls, the same can probably be said for killers.
2 -
I FINALLY got it. My God this adept was a real TORMENT (get it?)
I had to sort of tunnel 2 people and then I got a 3-gen and toyed around with the last two, I only killed them when I knew I could locate them both and I knew where the hatch was. I tried this last match, it didn't work because one of them got bored and suicided.
Once I had 2 left and I had the 3-gen I started hiting and downing them using his power to gain deviousness points.
1 -
I'm pretty sure people will find crazy meme builds, like Nemesis+PWYF on bubba for instance, but as a killer, his main problem is his mobility, it's like a Clown, it has a power that helps you in chases, but still won't win you the match.
Billy's power wins you the match. Nurse's power wins you the match. Clown's power doesn't, even though in paper his power would mean that you'll end chases in a couple of seconds, somehow Clown is D-Tier. I think is the same problem with PH, he has no mobility, he's a basic M1 killer, and "in paper" his power will help you end chases, but you'll still get gen rushed or, if you miss, the survivor is getting away (you don't even have that with clown)
3 -
Yeah, I think that's the case. Pyramid Head was never destined to be top tier. Just another cash, a mediocre killer, mediocre perks, make money with the license and that's it, everyone will get excited for a few weeks and then is going to be at the bottom of the list when most people would want to play killer. Maybe one of his perks will make a meme build with some other, but that's about it.
4 -
I instantly think he is top tier. A killer with a built in tunnel mori? Along with a power so strong you don't have to instantly kick jungle gym pallets or shack pallet?
Mediocre perks I agree with, although I've been bitten by deathbound a few times already when my teammate gets spooked; runs off, and now i'm stuck oblivious in a super unsafe indoors map.
I've seen someone get tunneled down with him so hard the PH got hit with DS (locker DS) from the first hook while going to pick him up for his death hook.
I would not be surprised if he ends up getting nerfed (after a few weeks of sales ofc).
2 -
Half you said was already a lie. His M2 attack is very decent if you understand how to use it properly.Itts a gauranteed hit even with LOS-Blockers. And it doesnt hurt you more than any other killer power. Also his cages counter nearly all perks survivors can use to defend themselfs when unhooking. Thats still quite broken. ans who cares for his perks, all other killers also just play the same 5-6 perks. But probably you wont acknowledge this at all, cause you lack game sense.
0 -
These phrases gave me so much a legion vibe.
1 -
Yeah but with Legion you're often around multiple survivors and there's always someone that stays behind to mend in your face. Pyramid Head is very much a 1 v 1 killer, despite the AoE on the power.
0 -
"His M2 attack is very decent if you understand how to use it properly" - tell me what you mean by "using properly"
"Itts a gauranteed hit even with LOS-Blockers."- his power is everything but a guaranteed hit. Its incredibly sluggish, takes time to actually hit the sruvivor, and you can't walk normally and backwards which makes you bump into something and you must cancel it because you cant see anything. Adding to the fact that it is so slow that sometimes you cant catch survivors mid animation.
" Also his cages counter nearly all perks survivors can use to defend themselfs when unhooking." - You can cage the survivors if they step on the trail... the problem is them stepping on it and even then they can just crouch and its like nothing happened.
Its not game sense, its purely trying a killer and analysing each situation.
0 -
I often dont get survivors that stay close to each other because all you need is to be the most efficient by spreading up.
I believe that legion is better than this killer and that is saying something, but ill wait to see if someone can actually make the killer shine.
0 -
"when used properly" meaning "if you land every hit, he's good". Well, that's the issue, it can easily be dodged. Is like saying "if the clown hits all his bottles, he's Top Tier". Also, this guy has an insane definition for "guarranteed hit".
2 -
You are correct sir Bubba is A tier. Also you want a reason that Pyramid head isn't C tier?!!?!?
I got nothing
1 -
He has something other killers don't. He can tunnel, that could be huge at the right time, it could even win you the match, but as chase potential, his secopndary attack is not hard to dodge and it really punishes you if you miss, unlike Demo's shred for instance.
