######### is with all the killing yourself on first hook increase?
Seriously, it's like every other game now, I don't get it. Can people really not take a down to a good killer?

Alot of different things could be behind it. Honestly I want to hook suicide against PH. Not because I can't take a down. You get me down I got no problem with that. Most PH's I've faced are the proxy camping hard tunneling type. I don't see a need to give them more points.
The main reason I've hook suicided is my team. If you're crouch walking around for no reason. You let me get to second stage because you're too scared to make a save. I'm out.

are you playing PH?
4 -
Someone did it against a good Huntress just now, it completely ruined the game.
1 -
Just now i had 2 people do this against weak legion... still menaged to finish all gens but only one person escaped.

That person is just being a baby then.

Something is up with survivors as a whole. I keep getting matched with teammates that if they aren't killing themselves on the hook they are being completely useless for the match - not touching gens, not going for saves, just hiding around the map. It's reds/purples playing like they're new to the game and not sure what to do.
6 -
I've noticed this as well.
6 -
Some people do it because it's an easy way to get the needed Benevolent rank for some of Tome challenges. Unhook one, then get hooked and die.

I can hardly play the game as a Nurse because a lot of people just suicide on the first hook when they find out I'm not trash. At this point, I'm used to black pipping every other game and survivors just trolling because they don't care about the game when their teammate is a butt and throws.
2 -
I've been getting those lately too. Some survivors just can't take getting outplayed early so they quit like losers they are.
1 -
Almost every match I feel like DBD is testing me while pairing me up with lesser skilled teammates😒.
3 -
I just chalked it up to a wave of clueless newbies, but frankly this is something I've always seen people do in this game.

It's just taken a huge increase over the past few months for some reason (maybe because the DC penalty). Even then, I still regularly get DCs.
Like I've said numerous times in other discussions about hook suicides, there's a difference between throwing right when you're downed or just seeing a certain killer because you don't want to play against it and hook suicide because your teammates are trash. The majority of survivors I see committing suicide on the hook is immediately when they're put on a hook (sometimes maybe a minute into the game) and the rest of the survivors giving up at that point.

If my team is doing nothing then I’m out
not wasting my time because you are too scared to play the game
2 -
I did not notice any increase. Latest when someone killed themselves on first hook was when they were the first one hooked and after around 90 seconds nobody came for the rescue... And I cannot blame the person on the Hook for that.
But other than that, I dont notice any difference.

Explain to me where I said I do it because of a killer I don’t like😐explain yourself right now🤔.

I never said you did

I try my best not to suicide on hook, but teammates are driving me away from this game. The new matchmaking system needs come quick man.... Too many players that do not belong in the ranks that they are in and too many unfair matches. I'd rather wait the normal ~10-15 mins to match fairly with the killer and other survivors. It's legit my biggest problem with this game rn.
3 -
The thing is, in one of the games, the team was good. Like we as a 3 man actually made it to last gen. Now I personally commit to a gen then unhook, and I know for a fact 1 was going for him, it didn't make sense honestly.

They need to match potatoes with other potatoes and the skilled with other skilled users.

I would speculate that people dying on first hook are just not having fun and so they opt for a fast hook death escape over dcing. Can't force someone to play if they aren't having fun.
5 -
Yeah, my team today all killed themselves on hook, because it was an insidious Bubba in basement, can't really blame them though. I got face camped and hit on hook constantly in the end.

This is what I’ve said a few times in the past. If a survivor has teammates who aren’t the best teammates. Then yes fill free to die on hook.I do it especially when I’m being hook camped. What’s fun in being in a game if you have bad teammates or are up against a killer known for camping.
1 -
There's been plenty of times recently where I'm trying to avoid getting spotted by the killer while I go for the save. I'll tell my buddy on comms he doesn't need to come. It can take a little longer if I don't suicide to the unhook.
Sometimes the killer is proxy or straight up face camping and the save can't be made. The new hook boxes make BT and such not work. Suiciding on hook makes that ######### strategy viable. Now there's a quick kill that should've taken another gen it two to get done.
I don't get the 'im not having fun so bye' stuff. Not even talking about you cause there's a difference in wanting to and doing it every game.

THis is due to the DC penalty.
Prior, survivors would simply DC to killers they didn't like etc, now they just die on hook when caught.
Same problem, new method.

Hopefully killers stop hooking these survivors so they can't suicide on the hook.
I never understood this mentality. Why would you launch the game if you're not willing to play it?
1 -
I was in a 3-man all day yesterday, almost every single random killed themselves on hook. It completely ruined my desire to play

No suicides for me but my run in with DC wimps has gone up. I've been Pyramid Head since the dlc dropped though. I guess they are part of the salty group trolling the community? LOL

PH? Honestly, I personally hate facing him but I wouldn't go as far as to suicide or DC against him, that's just kinda messed up and ruins others' experiences.
2 -
They weren't being camped, and the teams were actually all right though, it was weird.

And TBH, for any Survies reading this; I'm trying to use the cages as intended, staying opposite of the map of them while hunting others BUT, EVERY. SINGLE. GAME. all uncaged Survies just rush the cage and I end up following them back to the person. Also, Is it just me or are people REALLY sucking at hiding lately? I swear, I was just wandering in this one match and the same person kept just running into me, never healing/being healed. I eventually took so much pity on them I just threw the match.

I've had matches where I keep running face first into the killer. It's like no matter what I do I just keep ending up in their arms around corners, through vaults, below windows and it won't even be a stealth killer. Those days I wonder what the killer must be thinking when I just keep bumping into them. 😂
3 -
Ppl really are like that, lol
2 -
I feel ya, sometimes it just goes that way. I don't EVER reveal my perks or playstyles but, dude, it's like... my PH isn't even built with stealth in mind. I use him like a charging tank, you can hear me coming from miles away. LOL That is either some awful cursed luck or they are just not good at Hide and Ghosts Seek for #########. LMFAO

I have a whole thread here begging the devs to do something about this problem https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/154233/please-do-something-about-survivors-suicide-on-hook/p1

I'm still pretty new and pretty casual and even I've noticed an issue with this. Last night I bought the ghostface dlc, went in with one perk no items since I didnt have any bp saved up, and had the first survivor hooked suicide right away. I wasnt camping, in fact I hooked it and booked it because camping is boring. Checked the screen post game and he was a pretty high rank, definitely good enough to have just fought through, got rescued, and beat me. Two of the three remaining players all got to exit gates before I managed to end it, and they were like 5-9 ranks under the suicide. It's pretty sucky that it keeps happening too, not really fun playing for anyone involved when suicides and dcs happen.

I wouldn't call it "taking a down from a good killer." Some people hate playing against certain killers, regardless of how good they are.
1 -
I’m seeing a lot of suicides and even a moderate amount of disconnects. I’ve played a ton since the chapter release and killers are tunneling, camping, slugging like crazy. TBH like 90% of my matches in solo are like this. It hasn’t been much fun. I get a fun match like every 10 matches if I’m lucky. It really sucks.
1 -
dunno but it ruins games on both sides.
i have died countless times because someone else decided to ruin everything and kill himself on hook immediately - and as killer ive hardly blackpipped with a 4k thanks to hook suicides.
imo hook suicides are just as bad for this game as DCs were. there should be some sort of punishment for it to disencourage people from doing it (i am actively reporting all those who do it, but i actually have no clue whether it actually does anything or not. fact is, that its extremely annoying, unfun and unfair to have in your matches and it made me want to quit DbD multiple times in the past weeks after having 2+ hook suicides in one trial over the span of multiple trials in a row - and it doesnt particulary make the situation any better when the killer decides the best course of action was to slug for the 4k and onehook everyone (seriously, thats just extremely sweaty and unnecessary, especially after two hook suicides. shame on you.))

I've been practicing spirit and nurse and tons of people just give up on first hook. It's not fun either. On nurse it takes forever to get the first down and still few have suicided on hook or dc'd, I don't get it. Just started practicing blinks without that flannel addon and I miss 90% of my blinks, usually get my first down way in to the match and still they just give up.

I played in at least three games like this yesterday alone, but this has been something I've noticed the past couple of days since the new DLC released. I keep depipping because of it, and it's honestly getting so incredibly frustrating. I had one team that all three of the other survivors gave up on the first hook, I've played with a couple that DC out of nowhere, and it usually ends up being a really short match which ends in me depipping. I've been bouncing between rank 8 and 9 the past few days :/

Remember, as the killer you are not fighting against the survivors, you are fighting against an invisible clock and game.mechanics.

I had someone suicide on the hook yesterday immediately and they were using the cake offering for 100% bonus BP. I guess they didn't want to play The Spirit so badly that they were willing to piss away one of the best offerings to not play :D

Dont see any good killers at all lately, just players thinking theyre good, while theyre skill-wise just lower average boosting themselfs with cheap "tactics" and other OP stuff, cause it makes killer even easier. Good killers just appear once in a while, whats quite sad and makes the game really awful to play lately.
0 -
I've seen a bunch that did cake then hook suicide. 😂
0 -
I've seen more people playing "immersed" than I've seen in my entire play time this week. So many people trying to blend into the scenery. I don't know if it correlates, but a lot of times there seems to be trends in the matches.

New matchmaking isn’t going to fix a thing for survivors as long as swf allows such a disparity in skill. New MMR will still have killers stomping the boosted member in a swf. Swf is the root of many many problems in this game and the devs seem scared or incapable of addressing it.
1 -
Probably because Urban will be meta again soon because of PH.
0 -
I guess that's possible. I see a ton of people using it on PS4 so far. Purple almost red ranks.

You can start a game intending to play and have fun, but not every game IS fun to play.
I don't agree or disagree with hook suicide. But I'm thinking since it's not a banable offense it falls in line with tunneling and camping, etc. Just another strategy to use.
