Gen times need to be increased

πππ Yeah thats about what I expected

As a 50\50 killer\survivor for the love of everything unholy please do NOT increase gen times! They are so boring to work on!
However, a way to apply more pressure would be amazing. I don't really have any suggestions other than what people have already offered (second objective, etc).
Oh, just thought of one, what if 1 or 2 of the generators need a part in order to be repaired? Like the part spawns somewhere on the map and the players have to find it and bring it to the generator? Killer would see the aura of the part until it was picked up by a survivor.

Extend Gen time doesnt fix anything, since a Gen is complete, its permanent.
If Killer able to kick finished Gens, then even lower Gen time from 80sec to 40sec, it might still work.
5 Gen done = Gate powered? Just kick a finished Gen to de-power the Gate.

And since neither is gonna happen the bandaid fix is the perfect temporary solution for the mean time
1 -
Nah that just means your game was just full of potatoes
0 -
So you never accept yourself is potatoes?
Either survivors win because of game favour survivors, or another killer win because survivors were noob. I get that.

yea people should stop assuming thing like my avatar i do use spin chill alot but i also like cats so yea.maybe he likes freddy

if the survivor 99% the gate go do something time on the gate should start going down.

As a killer main who plays survivor often, gen speeds are fine. The main problem is the RNG of the placement of gens, you could get absolutely cuckold ######### depending on the RNG on either side. And let's be a lot more creative than just "increase this and this". Scott brought light to a really cool idea such as monstrous shrine creating two basements that attach. Thats an interesting way to spice things up and could help deal with ######### RNG.

Well, it was a rank 14 killer obviously new to trapper, he commited to the chase far to long. Also maybe he was preparing traps the first minute, but seriously it was very close to getting the guy off the gen in time. Also the killer didnt know how to run some tiles, swung through palletts were it wasnt needed (like the one at the shack).
What should the survs had done? No gens? Especially as trapper its risky without corrupt for example, also he didnt place a single trap in the chase, just let himself loop around the whole map. Was more kind of ######### matchmaking, since the survs were too experienced for that i suppose new player.
That sucks. Maybe limit the use of the red add ons to only one each per game? So one red part, one red light bulb and so on.
Though, i have never seen this happen in any game i played before, not even something close to that.

We have already been through this.
A. No one wants to sit on gennys any longer, its boring.
B. Increasing gen times, requires an increase in the time between hook stages, or camping would become way too ez.

This is the better way. 10-20 seconds is not even that bad, sometimes you gotta eat the bullet for better game health, killers did it with Ruin, survivors can do it with an extra 10-20 seconds.

Map size and gen placements were already changed on most of the larger maps. It didn't do anything. Add 10-20 seconds and make the game fair again.

he does the same without bnp, hes also red rank, and he also wins. All im saying is its stupid you finish a gen in 17 seconds a killer cant kill you within 17 seconds of a match. Also saying im a bad killer just because i disagree with you is just childish.
"you don't balance around outliers"
uh im pretty sure thats how you balance. clown would be an outlier aka his statistics are way different from the rest so they change it to fit the median. Outlier just means something that is vastly higher or lower than the medium. In fighting/moba games if one character has a insane win rate compared to the others they are a outlier and would be nerfed to try and fit the median.

First thing I see in your video: Old Toolboxes. Come on.
Maybe want to bring up Original BNP as well? To "prove" your point?

Alright... let me chime in.
Gen speeds are arguably not fine in two different ways.
At the beginning of the game when the Killer spawns in over half the map away and doesn't know where the Survivors are, while the Survivors frequently spawn in next to a gen and next to other survivors... the Gens fly way too fast.
At the end of the game when the Killer has maybe killed somebody, somebody else is on hook, and the Survivors have gotten 3 genned, the Gens take way too long and become borderline impossible to complete.
How do we fix that? Do we fix that? There's a lot of things going on in Dead By Daylight that make it a very snowbally game in both directions. If the Devs were able to heavily nerf both sides ability to snowball... would that be the right thing to do? I honestly don't know. I personally would prefer a less snowbally game, but I don't know if the general player base wants that.

You don't balance core mechanics around a fringe case. Giving QoL buffs to under performing characters. Or nerfs to over performing ones is not the same thing.

repairing gens is a snooze fest, I rather prefer them working on balancing the maps.
0 -
so in the marth video they finish the gens in 3 mins and you say who cares because its low rank, in the otz video they finish a gen within the first 17 seconds and you say it dont matter because they lost, ill give you the last video because i started playing a couple months ago and didnt know about the toolbox nerf but at looking at the past updates the gens have only been nerfed and never buffed and then the devs said recently that they are working on a new feature that will slow down the start of the game. it seems like the devs know that gens speeds have been problematic since all they do is nerf them and try to stop survivors from rushing them.
you said you dont balance around outliers,. But thats literally how you balance aka over/under preforming characters/objectives. is rushing gens a fringed case to you? i will say 3 bnps are but in general holding m1 at the start of the game is the norm.IM NOT SAYING TO INCREASE GEN TIME im just saying there shouldn't be a way that you can finish a gen within say 30 seconds
1 -
A Billy with a Mori could kill someone in 30 seconds. All it would take is a lucky chainsaw and an idiot teammate. Should we nerf his saw to ensure that's impossible? Probably not. Because it's an unlikely, extremely rare event. That's my point. Buffing or nerfing a character that has a consistent issue makes sense. A 3 BnP 17 second gen is not remotely a consistent issue.

No, survivors just need to have another objective, like activating a switch to do generators.
0 -
not 17s though
0 -
All gens being completed before the killer can get 2 or 3 hooks is a pretty consistent problem, for everyone including the best killers. Those games are the ones that ecpose the flaws in the games design and when they dont occur its literally always because the survivors underperformed, not that the killer overperformed, at least in todays meta. And thats the REAL issue, when I lose because I f'd up i know that and can accept that, when i lose because the game mechanics are designed to force me to lose thats a problem. Right now the game is designed to give survivors every advantage possible and i have to either wait or force them to make a mistake in order to win. Lower skilled players make a lot of mistakes, higher skilled players make very few, the best survivors make 0.
As someone else pointed out since the games release almost everything that has been done to gens and gen related items have been to increase match length, the only exception being the ruin rework and that was only to make the perk more active than passive as it can still extend match tines. We also know theyre releasing something to slow down the beginning of the match, so the best survivors know this is a problem, the best killers know this is a problem, and the devs have acknowledged and are actively working to fix this problem, the only question left is why cant you and others in this thread?
0 -
Is that really the hill you want to die on? Besides I could argue that in my scenario Billy finshed a quarter of his objective. So that makes them comparable.
I never argued the early game doesn't often go too fast. I actually had my own suggestion sometime back on how to help with it. My only response to this thread has been about the Otz video.
1 -
Yeah but the ohtz vid is a symptom of the problem. We'll see if the beginning game collapse (for lack of a better term) fixes the issue
0 -
I think it's mainly the disparity between repair times.
It's really strange that one survivor takes a little over 80 seconds to do a gen start to finish with no perks or items, but two survivors with no perks or items almost split that time in half at 47 seconds.
0 -
It should, 2 survivors on 2 Gen will take 80sec to finish 2 Gen (consume 160sec total on survivor side).
2 survivor on 1 Gen takes 47sec each, total of 94sec to finish 2 Gen (consume 188sec total on survivor side).

Ok, but you seemed to have quit your whine complain and insult combination. Or perhaps you just found someone else to insult to make yourself feel better. So entitled you are.
0 -
Yeah im "entitled" because i recognize a legit issue with the game and point it out, tge same issue the devs recognize and are working to resolve. ######### off dude.
0 -
Now you can add misgendering to your list. Lighten up a bit. No need to get so hateful with everyone. Quit insulting people it only makes you look bad.
1 -
well this would definitely make certain killers more viable, but it would also have the negative effect of making some killers too strong
0 -
I'd much rather have other objectives to spice up the gameplay. Sitting on gens is already boring as it is.
0 -
I mean gen speeds if a person is working on them singly is fine. A four man gen can pop fast yes, most people don't all pop on the same gen though. I'm not saying that's fun or fair mind you, as a killer it sucks to have a gen pop literally after you just start the freaking game. I'd rather they add secondary or tertiary objectives than make survivors have to hold M1 longer than ever.
0 -
I don't think the problem is gen time. Yes I have had games where gens have flown by and I've thought wow, but they are not the majority of games.
I think the issue is incentive to do something other than gens. Ok totems to prevent noed, get rid of an active hex etc, but I've had teams ignore every other aspect of the game to just rush the gens. People don't heal don't do totems just punch through the gens asap. Even with ruin up.
Perhaps being injured should slow you down giving more incentive to heal, I know there is a perk for this but the point of it is you slowdown even if healthy when others are injured/hooked. .
Eliminate gen tapping thus increasing killer gen pressure just a lil. You often hear survivors say over chat I'll just tap this gen then I'll come unhook you. It basically renders kicking gens useless as a pressure tool.
Minor tweaks like this could re-balance some gen issues pressure wise without just increasing gen time to drag out the game.
0 -
The problem with this is you could just run around kicking gens and hold the game hostage indefinitely.
0 -
Gen times are fine. Itβs just that theyβre uncontested at the start of the trial. Itβs why the devs are looking to add a mechanic that slows down the start
