Is cross-play for sure happening?
shorter queues doesn’t sound too bad, but one thing I’m wondering about is the FPS difference. Won’t it be harder for people on console to go against PC players? Unless they have some sort of plan to balance it out, but balancing has never been their strong point lol. I could be wrong, but I’ve just seen a few games get messy due to cross-play.

Cross play between consoles would be fine. With PC would be terrible.

Crossplay with everything besides mobile has been confirmed. This feature can be opped out of if you don't want to deal with the resulting balance issues.
2 -
My thoughts exactly. I’m hoping it doesn’t go that route.
2 -
Oh so it’s optional? If that’s the case, that’s fine :)
2 -
Yep, it's happening...

exactly console vs pc would be crazy , idk why but pc players tend to be more competitive in everything they do , so i hope they balance it out because console vs pc has always been a issue in games esp on "fortnite"

Lmaoooo yeah fortnite is in it’s own league for cross-play gone wrong. Wouldn’t want that to happen to DBD. It has enough ######### to sort out already lol

lmaooo your right!

As long as console players can opt out of playing against PC players...

It is and has been happening for quite some time. I've been playing with console users for months as apparently indicated by the little 'world' logo over their names.

What???? It’s already been introduced? I thought it would be at the end of 2020 & there would be more talk about it, if it happened??? ..I’m so confused 😐

That would be the work of a hacker

The devs would have to implement the new MMR system first so we can figure the time table for it then

I'll take fast queu times with pc players over 10 minutes waiting to get in a match

I use controller for pc for 1000+ hours and yea flashlight only works when they're breaking pallets for me and can only bare to play doctor/myers/wraith/trapper, anythings without range.

I think that's WINDOWS STORE.

Personally i look forward to kicking the crap out of pc players. Bring it peasants.

Why? It's hardly a disadvantage to play survivor with a controller. You lose precision with your camera placement but gain precision in movement direction. A few of my friends on PC actually play with a controller because they prefer it.
The only real disadvantage console players have is controlling killers like Nurse and Huntress. That's not something that would be made worse by crossplay, though, because PC survivors don't have much of an advantage over console survivors.
The only other thing I can think of is that PC players should have more frames, but that's not enough to make forced crossplay terrible.

As someone who plays on all Platforms, people who’ve only played on Steam or Console are making it sound like there’s going to be a huge difference but from my experience it’s about the same aside from no one on console plays Nurse and it being slightly easier to 360 lol.

Just have crossplay with console, don’t need people with pc ruining things with hacking and doxxing

PC's will perform better than consoles. They just have better hardware. A person trying to play a game at 30 fps vs. people at 120 fps would be a substantial disadvantage.

The only problem i see there is, when someone choose to not play with other consoles/PC, they will have a even higher queoe time than now since most people will turn crossplay on, which results in less players for the console than before.

I was playin. Ive played on both too and the only difference Ive seen is fps drops on console. 1 game in like 10 is practically a thrown game cause the fps gets so bad. And yeah the 360s. Otger than that i think its fine
0 -
On fps maybe, im not sure how true that is with a game like this. I guess time will tell
0 -
This game isn't that dissimilar to an fps. Both can have massive swings from tiny mistakes. The person with lower frame rate will make more mistakes.

I just dont know that thats true in a game where pinpoint accuracy isnt required. Deathslinger, huntress and nurse being the obvious exceptions since they require pinpoint accuracy. BUT ive nevercplayed crossplay on a game like this before so what do i know. You might be right

I haven't either. So I can't say definitively that it will be the case. But it's the logical outcome to me at least.

PC Nurse against console survivors lol. They can't team us up against PC-players that would be so unfair.

those were windows store players.

attaboy, not afraid of going against PC players. <3

DBD has a 60 FPS cap on PC. Anybody with more than that is manually editing the INI. 30 FPS vs 60 FPS isn't that big of a deal. It obviously looks less smooth at 30, but that extra <.02 seconds of reaction time from the extra frames doesn't really do anything in a game like DBD.
Console killers are usually going to be weaker than PC killers, but since the survivors are all comparable that console killer weakness isn't a crossplay problem.

Someone actually still playing PC Nurse lol

I play a lot Xbox Nurse, and they say PC Nurse is even better so..must be very strong? Would be strange if PC killer did not play Nurse.

I think a lot of people stopped playing her after her rework, so you don’t see her AS often anymore. At least that’s what I’ve heard. I only play ps4 & nurses were never too popular on console from what I’ve seen.

In other games the experience for opt-out varies greatly. Some punish you by only allowing you to play against/with other opt-outs which means a very small pool (long queues) as most opt-in some games by default. Some only allow one choice, some allow you to opt-in to cross-console play but not PCs. I wonder which version DBD will have but I'm guessing it will be the all or nothing.

Hopefully the way it works is that if a lobby with opt in players just so happens to not include players on other platforms then opt out players can join it too.
0 -
crossplay will not be optional. if you opt-out you will never find a game. i tested it when windows store crossplay came to pc.
0 -
Yeah, have fun with forever queues if you opt out of the thing that 99.9% of players will stay opted into. 🤣
0 -
It should be the opposite. The default to should be cross play toggled off with players that want cross play to have to opt in. Better yet. No cross play at all. There are far better things to put their resources into.
2 -
That sounds like a grand ol’ time 🙄
0 -
I didn't say anything about the default. And crossplay helps with que times, which is one of the games more serious issues and thus is worth solving.

There's no way they would do this, because most people just won't know it's there either way -- you have to assume that most players just don't keep up with game news or read those in-client alerts. From an adoption standpoint, it makes way more sense to leverage it as an opt-out system rather than an opt-in system. It's also way way better for the majority of the players, because the upsides of a stronger queue vastly outweigh whatever edge-case downsides a small number of players are going to experience.

No, I've played a lot on both console and PC as both killer and survivor. Survivor experience is the same on both platforms. PC survivors don't perform any better than console survivors, regardless of the fr. FR doesn't really matter when it comes to survivors.
Killers, on the other hand, it does matter for. It's a bit harder to aim on console as a killer and you can get 360'd, especially when the frames drop.
Basically, the survivor experience is the same for both platforms but the killer experience is a bit more difficult (at least for me) on console due to a higher frequency of missed basic attack hits. The end result is that no one is going to tell the difference when crossplay comes, except console survivors who rely too much on abusing frames against console killers and will finally have to go against killers who can hit almost 100% of the time.
So, only console survivors will potentially feel any difference, and that would only be because of laziness on their part.

Crossplay is confirmed, but it needs to be held back until maybe the fifth year anniversary. The game is plagued with so many balance and sound issues as well as fps issues on console (especially PS4), that allowing different platforms to play together would be catastrophic. Lets not forget that Switch is supposed to be thrown into the crossplay fiasco, meaning balance will be out the door.

She's still really strong, but I for one just don't like playing her. I feel like I'm constantly fighting her power, like, you're constantly on cooldown staring at the ground... sometimes it's just nice to be able to hold W.

If I'm crossplaying with a PC player, do they get to talk in postgame chat but I don't?
0 -
That’s...a good question 🧐 How would that work? I quite like console having no toxic chat honestly lmao.
