Ideas to reduce the grind
Just a few ideas I came up with to reduce the grind. I'm feeling it heavily trying to get decent perks on Cheryl and Pyramid Head.
- Characters are guaranteed to get more of their own perks at certain thresholds if they haven't gotten them already. For instance, bloodweb levels 3, 5, 8, 10, 12, 15 for Cheryl are guaranteed to have at least one of Cheryl's perks
- If you have a perk equipped when a new bloodweb is created you are much more likely to get the next tier of that perk in the new bloodweb. Maybe 25% more likely?
- If you have an item equipped upon creating a new bloodweb you are more likely to get add ons for that item
- The Entity is more clear about which perk it wants to take the first time it appears (Entity's claws around it). Sometimes when two perks are on one side of the bloodweb it's hard to know which perk it will go for
- Make a guaranteed BP booster of each rarity for every bloodweb: one brown, one yellow, one green
- At level 50 when the Entity presents 4 new perks make two required to be new ones you don't have and two upgraded tiers of ones you do have
- For a period of time (maybe 24 hours) after you unlock a teachable perk, make it much more likely to appear in newly created bloodwebs for all characters
- Sometimes mystery boxes will have shards, auric cells or bloodpoints in them
- Allow us to lock one teachable perk for each character so it won't appear in other characters' bloodwebs until we unlock it. This let's us avoid perks we have no interest in

I like all of these ideas a lot except for the item equipped = more likely add on as it could be a bit abusable, especially on the killer side if it worked the same way with having one addon equipped in the place of an item, and also the auric cells in mystery boxes just because that has to be bought with actual money and I don't think it would ever be in the question
V solid ideas though

No it wouldn't work with killer add ons, I agree that would be too strong.
Also they do auric cells in boxes on mobile but only around 5-50 or so. But yeah they likely wouldn't do this
Thanks for the feedback! :)

No prob, that's actually very true about mobile, they're a lot more leniant on auric cell handouts
Still really like your list!

I would be perfectly happy if bhvr would incorporate blood hunt events every weekend, or at the very least every month. Hopping into this four year old game can be quite daunting for newer players considering the massive grind that lays before them.

That would be a much easier solution but I sincerely doubt they'd ever do it. :(

Btw mobile does a cool thing where every weekend they pick two killers and two survivors and they get double XP. We don't need double XP so much because our progression system is different but they could make it double BP

I like the idea that they just hold a DBP event each weekend. You'd see far more players playing at that time because a lot more people come to the game to earn BP. Or they could even just add a system that each day spotlights a single survivor and killer that would earn more BP. It would maybe incentivise players to start using other killers/survivors and changing up how they play, rather than the usual stick to 1 single killer/build.

remove the need to acquire tiers of a perk, when you gety a perk it should give you all 3 tiers. Devs mentioned working on this previously I belive, But never heard about it again.

I imagine giving out free auric cells might have some financial issues for BHVR when dealing with licensed characters and cosmetics. Maybe instead they could have events that gives out additional shards, and maybe put some of their old OC auric-only cosmetics on an occasional shard sale rotation.

They do give out free auric cells on mobile but they might have a different version of the license contract. Good idea on the shard sale!

The blood hunt events and double XP events are probably the best thing about the mobile version. I don't like to play the mobile version, but I can't argue that the devs don't throw enticing offers your way!

That's literally what the mobile game does every weekend. Sad that the main game can't do the same. Personally I would like to not run BBQ every single match but since I'm a newer player, it's the only thing I have in the way of being able to accrue more bloodpoints so that I can get the perks that I want.

I agree there. It kinda sucks that we have to use a perk to try earn more BP in a match, and even then, the perks don't guarantee you'll get the bonus. BBQ needs you to hook each survivor for the full bonus, and survivors must safe unhook for theirs. And sure, we also have the BP offerings, but again, it's not like we have those thrown at us. I really hope they add more ways to earn more BP, beyond the Rift and Daily rituals.

When prestiging, you keep the Perks you already learned on that Character. So lets say I have BBQ Tier 2, PGTW Tier 3, Enduring Tier 2, Lightborn Tier 1 and Whispers Tier 2 on my Wraith when I prestige him.
Now my Wraith starts with his 3 teachable Perks and BBQ 1, PGTW 1, Enduring 1, Lightborn 1 and Whispers 1 OR with BBQ 2, PGTW 3, Enduring 2, Lightborn 1 and Whispers Tier 2 (second option obviously preferred, but I dont know if this would lower the grind too much). Because you already learned those Perks, why should you need to relearn it?
It would also possible to apply this only to teachables from other Characters. So while the Character will lose all Perks which are either their own Teachable OR non-teachable, the ones he got from other Characters stay.

Some of those rift challenges are a joke. I'm on the fourth tier of the newest rift and I'm doing a challenge where I have to safely unhook the survivor that unhooked me. And I have to do that three times! It's quite possibly the most situational task I've seen yet.

All you have to do is get yourself hooked twice early and then follow your rescuers around in stealth mode until they get hooked. It's a terrible strategy, but not that hard if you commit to it. And if your killer is a camper, you probably won't get past the first step anyways.

I can see if you're doing a swf that completing a lot of these challenges would be a lot easier, but otherwise some of these challenges force you to be a jerk to your teammates because it prevents you from playing the game like you should. I remember I had one challenge where I had to destroy 20 totems, and given that there's only five on a map no doubt many of my teammates wondered why I kept running all over the map instead of working on gens. And for those teammates whose perks require them to break a totem, they were probably incredibly pissed at me!
Challenges should reward you for doing things you should be doing already, and not for doing things that are incredibly situational. There's one challenge that requires Killers to hook four survivors during the end game. That is so rare that the moment I saw that, I immediately chose something else.
