Debate: Oni is better than Billy.
Long days and pleasant nights people of the fog! I am here to present a debate for you, this is all my opinion and I just want to start a discussion. I am currently an Oni main in red ranks, I play him almost exclusively now, he is extremely rewarding to play and he requires a lot of skill, meaning if I am better than the survivors, their crutch perks can't help them. I used to main Billy as well, he is very strong, but I kind of grew out of him and found him very boring to play. I think Oni is a better killer than the Hillbilly. Let's start with the basics. Oni can mindgame much better than the Hillbilly because of his control, meaning he can run almost every tile besides long walls. What I'm trying to say is that he counters looping most of the time, unless you are at long walls or jungle gyms. Hillbilly on the other hand, is punished for running in to walls, meaning he can't mindgame or run loops as well as the Oni, and Billy also has less control over his weapon. Build up: Something I always hear brought up in the Oni vs Billy conversation, is that Oni has to build up his power, whilst Billy can't. When playing Oni right, you can get your power all game, besides the start, making the build up futile after the start of the game, because you will have so much people injured, that you can keep blood fury all game, and as I said before, blood fury is better than the chainsaw. Mobility: Billy kind of wins in this category because of how much faster his chainsaw is compared to demon dash. Snowball potential: Oni wins by a landslide on this category. Unlike Oni, billy's chainsaw is very easy to dodge, because of his limited turning speed. Infectious fright is good on both, and both are amazing snowball killers, but Oni has better snowball potential overall than Billy. Finally, add-ons: This category was the hardest for me, because both have great add-ons, but Billy wins. The carburator tuning guide, primer bulb, thompsons moonshine are all amazing add-ons, Oni has great albums like the scalped topknot and the lion fang, but Billy wins in this category. All in all, I personally find Oni to be better and more fun than Billy, whilst both being top tier killers. Thoughts? These are only my opinions, so please don't say I'm wrong. Who do you think is better?

A good oni can navigate those turns well, and won't let a survivor get away. Also, once you injure a bunch of people, you can use your power non stop if you remember where the blood orbs are.

I mained Hillbilly for like.. the first year or so of DBD and while he did the trick, the Oni is just more fun. Billy's better, of course, since his power is always at the ready, but the way Oni just roars, whips out the kanabo, and pounds the ground after a hit is just so satisfying. He feels like a real powerful monster... like an Oni 😅 He's a bit clunky for me (I play with controller on PC, sue me), but he really has stood out to me as one of the most fun killers to play as.

Mindgaming:
I wouldn't really say that Oni is strictly better at mindgaming than Billy.Billy can either fake his chainsaw or curve around short and medium loops.Oni however can't really use his power at long walls, jungle gym AND short loops.
Early game:
Compared to Billy,Onis early game is very weak and depending on how safe the survivors play it will take valuable time to get your power.
Mobility:
That depends. In terms of speed billy will win,but if there are multiple obstacles in the way then Oni has the upper hand.
Snowball potential:
Nothing to add here.
Addons:
As you said Billy kind of wins here. We've got drift king billy, insta saw,and speed billy
Using the scalped topknot addon would be comparable with speed billy power level wise because both help countering even more loops.
At the end i would say that Billys strength is consistency.Whereas Oni is more like a glass canon.Very strong power, but not being able to chain your downs will hurt you very hard

Heres the thing:
Against intelligent survivors Billy will be the better killer. Why?
If youre against an Oni he has to get his power. People who know this and play accordingly will genrush him while the people who get chased drop pallets early.
If you dont get a hit youre an M1 killer without power.
So you can say against usual survivors who dont play safe oni is better, but against really good people you will struggle to get a hit until many gens are finished.

Oni is better if someone gives you the first hit, but against really good survivors, nobody will give you a first hit quickly. I've experienced it first hand, it sucks. So overall, Billy takes it by a tiny bit.

heh, there's a big tournament ready to start, during the testing both billy and One were the few killers that managed to 4k. One is sure stronger, but needs build up and against top tier survivors you won't get M1 hits so easily.

i dunno if I can say it, but it's "The best of the Best" hosted by hexy.

I main Oni as well but I would still give the trophy to good ol billy, just for map pressure alone. The fun part about Oni is resource management.
That's also why I dont think they will make Billy have to refuel his saw. That would literally make him no different than Oni and if they did Oni would take his place.
