Trail of Torment and the Q&A

Hello. I'm the forum user/player who asked the question about why Trail of Torment reveals the generator that was kicked (kudos to the mods for simplifying the question, BTW, I was worried it might be misunderstood).

Below is a comment I made in a suggestion thread from another user, pasted here so the two suggestions are separate.

I get the idea that survivors should probably be made aware that the killer is roaming while Undetectable, but there's a very simple way to make it work with this idea in mind: instead of making the killer Undetectable, have all survivors become Oblivious and remove the generator aura.

It's the same idea, survivors still become aware that the killer could come from anywhere at any moment, but now they know that they won't hear the terror radius or see the red stain.

I fully support this idea. If the goal is to make it so survivors are both aware that something has happened, and make it so they play differently and the killer has more options, then this actually succeeds in both of those as survivors are told when they become oblivious, and the killer isn't broadcasting their position globally to everyone (and broadcasting where a gen with progress is too which is detrimental if it was only one person who knew about it). This would be a nice buff to the perk and actually allow for mindgames - and would even synergize with the one achievement added with him to take down survivors suffering from oblivious.

I can't really see a downside, and it actively keeps the functionality they wanted where the survivor at least knows something has happened, without compromising the point of the perk, which is to become hard to predict.

That's a great change, really hope we'll get it in !

I really see no reason not to do it other then BHVR being scared of making strong perks (which Im afraid isn't really a topic for discussion anymore, pretty much a fact)

Yeah, I feel this is a nice middleground between what the devs intend (survivors being made aware that the killer now has no TR or red stain) and what would make Trail of Torment a good stealth perk (don't have an effect that partially counters the stealth aspect).

Or just make the generator explode instead of turning yellow.

Wow, awesome idea, I would fully support this change.

Oblivious actually dosent remove the red stain so its a small bit less powerful and also that makes aura perks and addons able to work on the killer unlike undetectable

I think I would be fine with this change. You do loose the benefits of being undetectable as killer though, but I feel like it's a worthy trade-off. As survivor, you could always run Alert to effectively give you the same effect the perk does now.

I would rather the cooldown be reduced further or the duration be increased. The rationale they have of being like "Oh man you can switch up the angle and confuse them" isn't really practical in most cases since the duration is so low it does not offer a chance to take an unconventional route more often than not. If they're intent on sticking with this low value variant, I think we should be able to do it every 40 seconds. Considering it must be done by kicking a generator that is actively being worked this is a significant time investment in the context of a chase and the warning it gives to the survivor side is huge as well.

So yeah, I'd be behind either 30 second duration with a bit of a longer cooldown if needed or shorter cooldown left as is in duration.

I was quite literally going to post the same thing, so yeah, you're getting my upvote.
