Why would the devs give event cosmetics to everyone?

I had the David untamed donkey jacket, I firstly lost it, but I got it back and now the devs decide to give the event cosmetics to everyone? What is the point in grinding for those items if they are gonna give them to everyone? Firstly the ultra rare cosmetics, then the event cosmetics, the untamed donkey jacket was the only somewhat exclusive cosmetic I owned, and now that is not exclusive anymore, Why don't you just give the hype Nea shirt, the ohmwrecker wraith skin and the bloodletting shirt to everyone then? If you did not know, people sell those codes too. I just want to know why the HECK the devs would give them to everyone, might aswell not even grind in the event starting today if there is any cosmetics I can get by GRINDING, cause the devs are gonna of course give them to everyone later. Thank you.

    I understand why they don't give legacies to everyone.

    Here: To put it simply: there is no way for us to verify who earned these items legitimately, as they weren't stored in the same way we currently store items. Since then, we have reworked our storage system and item tracking and made sure that if a similar issue occurs, we should be able to easily restore items. - Peanits

    And that is not true. Because of the quote above you can see they fixed their storage system so if someone loses their items they should be able to easily restore those items.

    Point is as you pointed out a little in your statement people sell these (not legitimately but in scamming way) and the more they can lessen that the better. As stated already their storage system is different now with data and how certain events now usually go into the store if not earned in time so more than likely not happening in the future.

    Yes, for those of us who earned these It may feel bad but gotta remember these were like 3 years ago with not as many players as now nor the variety of cosmetics which still are better than the exclusives personally. Still we “worked” for it and because of that we got it 3 years in advance. This wasn’t like the event was last week or something it’s been a hot minute so people complaining how they won’t participate in future events is pretty stupid considering your precedent for waiting will be 3 years. Play the game as you would and get your (entirely free, no pay to win, completely just for aesthetics with no advantage) cosmetics. This is not similar to legacy at all and the comparison is laughable (not saying you said it it’s just what a lot of people are comparing it to). I would rather developers recognize a problem such as scamming a lot of the community over cosmetics and make it worthless to those scammers rather than having that practice continue so that something that was 3 years ago can stay exclusive.
