Why are people so mean over a game?

I swear I don't get it. I've been mad before,I just keep it to myself. I was in a match, playing a killer I never played much for a crown (the Hag). They were down to one gen and the last three were pretty far apart. These guys are unhooking people as soon as I turn my back and I'm generally having a hard time. There's one gen that sounds like it's about 80% so I keep going back and checking it. Three of them are there and I chase them off.

I keep checking, and there's this dude. Was able to get a hit and figured I was screwed anyway, and he already has his crown for that character and was downed twice,so I chased him. Died. Other three escaped but I'm pretty sure I downed them all once. Now to be fair I'm pretty sure I hit and downed this guy off hook, but he was self caring right under it and I didn't get far before the guy even unhooked him. He used his DS. I let him go.

I have my messenger on PSN off. So I get a friend request from this guy,and I knew it was going to be something ignorant. He calls me a few names, then says I'm trash a playing,I tunnel, and need to uninstall the game. Man you were self caring under a hook when you could still hear my terror radius. Then you went back to a gen I was patrolling because it was about to pop. That's on top of not being good in a chase.

He can send a mean message calling people names, but has all his stuff set to private. I just wonder what makes people act like this. Even if I didn't play by the survivors code of conduct, there's no reason to swear and call someone names. It also looks like he's a fan of sending the same sort of toxic message. You guys think there's people that just go around being mean every match regardless of what you do?

There are just some people out there who get bullied so they play games like DBD.And start bullying others themselves it’s their way to release stress and anger.Don’t sweat it though there are plenty of other people that are nice killers and survivors.

Welcome to dbd. If after your first year on this you don't have 3 people targeting you for no reason then your not playing the game right lol

That guy's just another bitter, outplayed idiot who can't take responsibility for his own ineptitude. Leave him to whine in his salty jar of tears.

I feel like the nature of the game can bring out the anger in people.

    ^

It's a regular part of life here in the DBD community. Tensions are high both in and out of the game, you learn to get used to it after awhile

Had a guy earlier who was "friends" with my mate just got angry over a game. Sniped us the next game and just stood over my mates body with rancor and bear trap on pig. Wouldn't hook him just slugging him till he either bleed out or we finished the gens for rancor.

We laughed our heads off at how petty some people can be lol he only did this because we "gen rushed" against him. Anytime we faced him he got salty after the match because he couldn't kill anyone.

I've been playing a good while. Maybe like a year on PC and over a year on PS4. Just don't usually see hate on PS4. I've only had messages like that maybe 3 times on PS4. All on DBD,lol. On PC I would see stuff all the time. I was playing like a month or two after launch.

Same~ I started in July 2016 (PC only)

If you've been playing for that long you should know the answer by now then. It is what it is.

Its part of the authentic experience. When I began even at rank 20 on either side any mistake was met with profanity and malice.

Say you play a game and you are first hooked and the killer never goes far enough to stop hearing their TR. You get unhooked and before you can clear it the killer is already visible and targets you. Play a game where someone quits after 1 gen and then the killer slugs the other 3 and lets em bleed out. Things keep going and you wind up having 1 kind of fair game in 3 hours of play. You wind up feeling victimized with no other recourse. You can't click a button to avoid that player in the future.

I've through matchmaking played the same person 3 games in a row. The first 2 everyone else quit because of how they played and then I trying to be decent and not just follow the herd try to play and i get slugged for a bit, hooked and kebabed. I said to the person after the game "seriously two games in a row I'm the only one willing to play with you and you treat me like that. Met with laughter. The third game I quit for the night.

Try try try to play a fair decent game which most often is getting lucky to not be tunneled and you can't ever have the option of not playing with that person in the future. You would eventually lengthen your own wait time and that should be explained but you'll also lengthen theirs. Maybe it would give the killer an actual reason to not play in the most toxic way they can because they don't care about points since they get more on average.

There's two categories of Killer Perks in this game:

Those that will make survivors yell at you and call you a trash killer.

And those that will make survivors laugh at you can call you a trash killer.

    There's no way to win.

For this reason as survivor I'm rarely toxic unless I feel the killer deserves it, which is very rare. I always try to be as nice and fun as possible.

End game I either say nothing, GG, or something fun.

Just my last game against a Plague, I ran her for 3 gens, threw my second chase to grab the crown pedestal (ran up to it, she hit me, I grabbed it and then she hit me again), and then was shaking back and forth at her when she came to the gate I was going to open (didn't even try to chase. Was just memeing). She killed me since that was death hook.

Regardless, in end game chat, all I said was, "Aww, my little Dwighty boy doesn't get his crown. :(" She didn't respond, but I said GG.

She probably left thinking I was going to be toxic, but I just wanted to make a silly comment. It didn't bother me and killers aren't required to let me go because I picked up a pedestal.

People suck. Been that way since the end of the Erectus era.

Trust me I wasn't intending to. I just always wondered about that specifically.

I actually started playing again after a long break because of people on the forums. So I definitely know there's good people here.

That's actually a really good point. I didn't even think about that. He's got a pretty meta build and couldn't best someone that was playing fair, running a low level killer basically adept with brown add ons, lol.

I mean,I'll never truly know the answer until someone wants to admit they act like this and then tell me why themselves, you know? I'm not particularly good at anything. But I don't go around swearing at people, calling them names and stuff because I lost. Dude had to go to the trouble to try and send a message, realize he couldn't,and then decide he was going to send a friend request with a message attached to get around it. Sometimes these people accuse you of things you didn't even do. Like I got one that said "GG loser, but if you didn't camp me you could've got a 3 or 4k" I didn't camp anyone. I never do. And all 4 people escaped that match. So they must've just got confused or something.

I've got so mad it was unbelievable at times. Mainly when I first got back to playing and kept getting matched against red ranks starting at rank 18. Then I get ones that want to be bullies. I just shut the game off. When I got really frustrated,I switched to survivor for awhile. I never once thought to message someone and say something ignorant. I'm pretty dedicated to the game. I play every day. I try to play as far as possible. Just kinda crazy that sometimes it doesn't even matter. You can stay at the hook for an extra 10 seconds, and all of a sudden you're "camping trash" lol. I don't think I've ever seen a game where people get so mad. Maybe old school Halo online. They used to toss around slurs and everything.

:Edited because my phone autocorrected "shut" to a bad word, lol

Any salty messages i get on PS4 i hit them all with the same answer. "Sorry i dont ah speako da English". They dont usually reply.

Never argue with a salty gamer, you'll waste your time and still never agree.
