Please stop 99'ing doors

I have been screwed by this move constantly after running at the exit gate and getting downed because i have to stop and tap the door.

There is literally no reason to do it.

I agree. If someone's not about to be hooked, open the ######### gates. I've died more times than I'd care to remember because some idiot decided to leave the gates at 99% "just in case". In case of what, I do not know, since the killer didn't have NOED and nobody was about to be hooked.

So you want survivors to just stand still at the gates and kill them?😂.

It's also why I, as a Killer always open a gate myself first. EGC, anyone? ;3

There is little to no risk of Blood Warden even been used by the killer. Besides, No-one 99'd doors when Freddy was introduced and was only a thing when ECG was.

Avoiding the ECG does nothing. If i'm caught, i'm still dead within two minutes so you have to make a move in a short amount of time anyway, regardless if the ECG timer is slowed. You have plenty of time to make a move within the time frame.

I'm a survivor main. I want to leave without being killed. Not ######### over because some idiot decided to 99 the door and run away, leaving me with no exit from the chase.

As someone who plays survivor, i still have seen no reason to do this within my games.

It's not about winning. But i shouldn't be forced to lose to a bad move.

you could of done an alternative and go to the other gate unless it was one of those maps where both gates are on the same wall👍.

Wasn't an option. I was out of resources to help myself. I only ran towards the door when i had the chance because i knew someone was opening it. I didn't expect it to be 99'd and for them to be on the other side of the map at the other door.

2 minutes to save someone from the hook is a little different than 2 minutes to save someone from the hook and get everybody out.

Seriously how many blood wardens do you see ever since egc was introduced? Why play around a perk rarely used?

Imagine caring about being sacrificed as a survivor.

If I see someone run towards a hooked team member from the gate, I give it a certain amount of time and take it from 99 to open. It will usually flush the killer out to try to force me out while giving them space.

I agree 99'ing isn't really necessary depending on what's going on in the match.

To be honest, if the split second to open the gate gets you killed, the killer would probably have gotten you just before the exit anyway.

Nope, I get more screwed by mates who open the gate for no reason while I'm in chase. Killers just takes oppurtiny and corners me till EGC runs out.

So, with Blood Warden EXISTING people are going to be paranoid of it's existence. There is also the issue of them not knowing where everyone is, so they want to give them the most possible time to get out or not be limited by a timer to go back and unhook someone. This little problem is also helped by the fact that a lot more often a killer will tend to camp or patrol a hooked survivor during endgame to secure a kill.

I haven't had to, but I've forced that onto people. It's fun for me to watch.

This is bad advice. The polite thing to do is 99 a door to make sure all living survivors have a higher chance of escaping. It would also be polite to remain near the door so if you see a survivor being chased you can pop the door open and body block the killer.

I usually open the door and leave instantly unless my friend is hooked

I have no reason no stay in the match after all gens are done.

Bad call. The endgame collapse timer is far too long to pressure survivors like that. By opening the gate, you're guaranteeing that one is open and instead of guarding both, you're forced to commit to one now.

Are there only certain killers that can open gates? I know Trapper and Spirit can, who else?

Can someone inform me what "99" means?

Every Killer can open the Gate.

But you can't open a Gate if the EGC is already active or if any gens need to be done.

99ing the doing is probably the smartest thing to do. Because A) If you know someone is about to die, why would you start the EGC? B) If you are all safe and you can confirm simply open the door. C) It's more annoying when your teammate opens the door early without confirming the safety of you and the others. So you got screwed over because you went straight for the door, very well knowing you weren't gonna make it if (( I'm assuming the EGC hadn't started)) none of the gates were opened. YOU, not your teammates, could have probably made a smarter play rather than running to a door that is not opened yet. You escaped because they came back for you and didn't have the pressure of a 2 minute timer.

People 99% almost purelly for evading the EGC. People say it's for bloodwarden but i'm sure over half of the survivors don't even know that perk excist.

It just conviently happens to be that survivors have a tactic that counters all the killers options.

And they still mess it up. What's suppose to happen is that they 99% the gate AND have one survivor stay there to open it when the others arrive

The latter part I know, but I've seen Doctor, Myers and Leathercamp try to open the doors before and couldn't, even though all gens were done. What made it impossible for them to open the gates?

The people talking about how it's a good idea are always my teammates 😂

Unless you're grinding the EGC is long enough for you to get out. On the very rare occasion they have blood warden why would you not open the door and start it as fast as possible? Also if they have Blood Warden they're probably going to open the gate themselves. Im not a big brain survivor i guess, i can't see the bigger picture

Getting the bar on the exit gate almost full. "99%" so you only have to touch it to open it

If the hatch is already closed, the gates can't be opened by the killer.

I just don't see the point. I've never seen preventing the ECG from happening actually help anyone in the hours i've played, only dying or giving me a free kill.

It's sad how Blood Warden gets countered by 99'ing a gate (unless you open it yourself). I bet if survivors weren't able to do that, Blood Warden would be a bit more popular.

I think to 99ing the exit gate is a good move, but stay near the gate and look what’s happen. If a survivor is in chase and on the way to the gate, than open it and take a hit. Bloodwarden is not the only reason for 99ing. Often you don’t know if there is noed or a survivor who gets down. Some people here say: „open, 2 min are enough“, but if you go for a risky unhook maybe you are the next at the hook and now there are just 80 sec of egc... why you should start the egc and take away the time for survivors? Sometimes I open it before I go for the unhook, for example if the gate is near the hook or there is no other survivor to take a hit

What can go wrong when you do 99 the gates:

-While chased by the killer, have to stop and tap the door to leave since no one opened it

What can go wrong when you don't 99 the gates:

-The killer has bloodwarden and traps the rest of the survivors inside for 60 seconds or even till the timer runs out

-Survivors run out early, fearing bloodwarden

-Due to the limited timer, your team had to give up on trying to rescue all teammates and someone dies on 1st or 2nd hook

-Due to the limited timer, while going for a rescue your team ended up not making it in time and all were sacrificed to the EGC

Yeah no, think about this, it's better to 99% the gates in most scenarios.

As much i hate to see Blood Warden, i still wouldn't mind seeing it. Leaving doors at 99% has got me killed quite a bit.
