Imagine your 4th anniversary event is worse than previous events
This event is so damn lackluster. Especially when you compared it with previous events like luna or bbq. And lets not even compare dbd with other games cuz that's going to be embarrassing.
I have ZERO event vibe. Nothing. No atmosphere, noone motivated in my friendlist to grind the event, lackluster minimum effort event cosmetics (I call it the Ctrl+c and Ctrl+v crown) which are looking more silly than good. Like duh, make it St least usable on any custom head piece, it's floating anyway so no issue with different cosmetic...
Idk, maybe I'm just burned out and sick of dbd with all its issues. But I had more fun and vibes with the BBQ event than with this.

How was Barbeque better?

I mean, it has event-based cosmetics, there’s a decent mechanic to obtain them, rather than just doing gens or that orange juice from the first halloween event. Sure, hella bugs and even bugged offering, but compared to the 3rd anniversary event, which was literally just gens reskin, it’s way better.
3 -
Nope I complain all day long. What you gonna do about it now?
4 -
Please explain how this is better than previous anniversary. At least last anniversary there was a double bloodpoint event at the start and the birthday cakes actually granted you the points you earned using them. And that's not even getting into the halo cosmetic.
2 -
And?
I mean, is that it? If so your complaints are pretty weak.
1 -
Is this directed at me? Because if so I'll give you an entire rundown on why I'd agree.....
1 -
Nah. It was directed at the OP. At least you said more than, basically, "I have no hype and probably burned out."
I dislike the halo/crown cosmetic myself. I think it's pretty ugo.

The BBQ Event was so much fun.
God, I had a blast.

The offering doesn't even work properly
1 -
I’m still gonna grind the crowns and a ton of cakes on my P3’s. This will set me up for the year.

But what made it better? (I'm not putting it down. )All I see are special generators/hooks that give you 'points' towards something towards Kate and Billy.
Everyone gets a cosmetic now as well as a full suit for Claudette and Deathslinger and a way cool birthday cake charm coming up.
I don't see how the barbeque was much different since you were just doing gens and hooking people. And you got way less for it.
Was the community nicer back then so it made the celebration more fun? I'm not trying to trash your opinion. I just can't understand how Year 4 isn't superior.

I can understand why survivor main's find it 'unfair' that killers have an easier go of the cosmetic but the whole concept is pretty awful on every level. First of all you're stuck with the default face, which makes the skin less likely for people to actually use. Secondly the only people who'd actually use it is those toxic mf'ers who try to make their character standout in a stealth based game in order to troll. Seriously a big yellow bullseye is not something you should want when trying to hide.
Next we have the new items. Ghastly gataeu doesn't even work. All these people are blowing these offerings not understanding that it doesn't work. Will they be compensated for that? Nope. Next we have the medkit and flashlight. They are extremely hard to get on the blood web. I leveled Bill p3 through all of the survivor perks I have unlocked, getting every gataeu and new item and this is what I ended with: 64 Gataeu's, 7 Flashlights and 5 medkits, not skipping any of these items as they spawned. Two of the medkits I believe I got from chests. And for what? Same stats as their regular yellow counter parts and the last thing I want when I finish healing is a huge pop of confetti saying 'HERE I AM!' At least when the Halloween item's first came out they were superior to their counterparts in terms of usage.
And that leaves me with my biggest gripe about the whole event. No double BP's. We are halfway through the year and this is the only event thats occurred and still no double BP's? Last two anniversary's had them, why not now?
I apologize if this comes off as a bitchfest but I do believe the term 'lackluster' is warranted here.

Well...you got Bonus Bloodpoints for just doing your objective, both survivor and killer.
And it was a Summer Event, last year we didn't get it because they needed resources to "fix bugs" but that didn't happen.
It was a lot more unique and well, the vibe was a lot better than what it is now. Right now, the offering is bugged, the gens just have balloons, the hooks have balloons, there's....it's so generic.
The Generators were different, the hooks had grills, it was a well thought out Event.

Hell yea. i loved the atmostphaere. I loved the generator design so much. I still have some BBQ invite offerings on some chars.
2 -
Same. =]

Summber BBQ was the best event they ever did and only did it once, which is bizzare because they already had the assets and coding in place so it's not like it would require an extraordinary amount of work, maybe two new skins and that's it.
1 -
Oh, I forgot about the sizzling grills, lol. Yeah I guess the visuals were better and bonus BP sounds good.
I'm just a cosmetic-fiend I guess. We are getting so much stuff that sticking a couple of balloons on things makes me feel like it's a big celebration.😊 I feel embarrassed now thinking about it.
But I really enjoyed how they forced my hands playing all the Killers to get their crowns. That was the most fun I had all year. I would have never played them otherwise (except Robbie the Rabbit Legion.) So that was supercool. Also I like seeing all the Killers when I play survivour. It's been fun to actually play against them all. People had been constantly playing the same ones most of the time. It's been so much fun to play against all the Killers. Players wouldn't be playing most of these killers off, if it wasn't for the event. So that's a nice positive.

I haven't been around for the other events, but I can say I do like this one. Sure there's not that much to it, but I'm really liking it. I'm just glad to have new content.

To lazy to make a whole rant down, devs probably don't read or care about it.

Glad I'm not the only one who picked a different vibe..
Idk how you feel about it but the summer event was just catching me. The visuals were great, the atmosphere was great, the rewards (bp and skins) were great, event offerings for more bp, everyone in my friend list was hyped for it and we played it all day long. I was constantly switching my swf because we all wanted to play with each other lol.
Had it issues? The only issue coming into my mind was sabotaging event hooks but other than that I have nothing to complain about the summer event.
And Now I sit here in this dogshit boring event, friend list shows noone is interested to play either, rewards are garbage, no vibe..

I mean, it's better than nothing I guess? But you would be disappointed aswell when you had experienced all the previous events by yourself
1 -
Imagine you spent years of your life making a game and nothing you could ever do can please anyone, lol. I dunno. In a way I agree...but I try to cut them some slack with everything that's been going on. At least it was an attempt to get people playing a variety of characters. And you don't have to grind as hard. And you get cosmetics just for turning the game on. The loading screens are kinda neat. BBQ and Blight are the only events I even remember. Cant say if that's good or bad. Its an anniversary. Maybe see it as a way to give some fun little things to the community that got them here, without having to make people play 50 hours to get a t-shirt.
After so many hours nothing is going to seem all that great. Ive played FFXIV for 3500 hours. People said the last expac was the best ever. A pinnacle for Final Fantasy story telling. I was bored to tears the entire time and was skipping cutscenes towards the end lol. You're entitled to your opinion though. I don't even necessarily think you're wrong. The atmosphere could be spruced up for sure. The hooks and gens for BBQ were way cooler. I do like the noise when you hook someone though.

U asked me a question and I answered. I asked you a question and you dodged it and call me child.
Now tell me who is more mature here?
1 -
Agreed. Agreed.
The thing that bothers me the most is that, they introduced 2 new skins now, which is cool, but you can't wear the Crown on those new skins?
You have two separate event heads for Deathslinger and Claudette.
Makes 0 Sense.
Game has gone downhill since Stefan left.

The quotes during the loading screen alone make this the best event in the history of gaming
0 -
Sorry, but double exp, double battle pass, double weapon xp weekend with 24/7 Shipment on Modern Warfare beats this any day.
3 -
They could use crowns like as a currency (like they did with lotta events) to buy ACTUALLY GOOD COSMETICS, because once you obitained this floating piece of cheese for everyone, crowns are... useless? Also when you pick them up as a killer you get "Objective" points... And killers don't have that category lol what?
0 -
It's because they are afraid of taking risks and trying something new, so they make it simple to prevent backlash from players not enjoying an event.
0 -
Im just happy we got one this year cough year 3 cough
0 -
The double standard is unreal, I hope you are just trolling lol
0 -
Stefan left?? Since when? I was oblivious to that, what happened?
0 -
Tbh this kind of loading screen should be standard years ago.

Technically you do get your cake's worth, it just can't stack

I think the event is quite fun personally. But it's all down to a matter of opinion, ghastly gateauxs are hit or miss but I've noticed a couple of laggy/buggy moments while playing yesterday. Would be funny if all moris were now the killer smashing you in the face with a bday cake
0 -
So does the £60 cost of the game

I still get a festive vibe for this event and while I am thankful for the devs working their butts off and doing so while we’re in the middle of a pandemic which inevitably means many of them working from home.... I do have to agree with some that the ‘crown’ looks odd and not aesthetically pleasing to the eye (IMO).
I do however, love the anniversary items! So I’m definitely hunting for those.

They should just do the BBQ event every summer tbh.

I'd rank this one behind the lunar event and the hallowed blight effect, mainly because
- the hallowed blight event had more interesting cosmetics
- The lanern mechanic in the lunar event was so good as survivor:adding pressure to try to hold on to your lantern as long as possible for the extra bps and the fear of having it broken when you get hooked; as killer: juggling hooks and lanters trying to get to the lantern before the survivors can take it back
With that said, I think this event is much better than any other one we've had, aside from those two

Agreed, I wholeheartedly prefer the BBQ event to this one (despite writing a helpful summary on this event). The BBQ one was more enjoyable for me and when I see the retired offering on the last page of offerings I get a little sad because that offering gives me nostalgia to when I was playing the BBQ event and it makes me miss it so much.
1 -
Event is terrible. But at least they didn't make as grindy as moonrise. Where it was impossible to get all the coins, unless you play the game for a living
0 -
If anyone played Darkest Dungeon the crowns remind me of that "afflicted" symbol. It's a bit odd but it would have been cool if they revamped the gens and hooks like prevois year events.
