Lots of rank 20’s in here, I’d love to see someone post vids of them consistently winning at rank 1 without Ruin. There’s no way ALL of you are that good.

Ruin with darkend traps plus Corrupt works well for me.

Ruin is needed against good survivors. Even then, high tier killers can be played without Ruin (which sometimes is quite difficult).

I really wish I could be rank 20 so I could get this plague adept.

First As killer .... me + any hex = trash... They find them.. Then im out of a slot... Or i never get in the situation it calls for long enough for it to be viable... So thats why i dnt use them.. As survivior i feel a decent survivior can work through ruin. As some one peels off to find it. And break it leaving the killer down a slot. Actually my main swf group. We kill all the totems we see anyway.. Negating ruin and no-ed. Ya haunted ground hurts... So ya its a crutch in my opinion

Some games it seems like a powerhouse perk but most I often wonder why I run it. It's one if those things where if you don't bring it you feel like you're making the game 10 times harder but when you do it often goes within the first minute and most likely, before you've even hooked a survivor. Thing is (keep in mind I'm high rank but not an amazing killer by any stretch) I still find I'm able to pull off 3-4k's when it does go fast so to be honest, is it needed? I think two things come into play, one is, at the very least, keeps someone off a gen looking for it (hopefully you find someone else doing a gen to make it two) and survivor time wasting is a good tool for the killer but the other is you're completely at the mercy of the survivors general skill level. With Ruin still up I'll often get decimated because they're good at skill checks.

Tl;dr I still bring it in the hopes it stays up long enough for me to make use of it but often it's a placebo. Play as best you can and it's still possible to do 'well'.

I mostly play green/purple ranks and I find that whenever I don't use ruin, the survivors easily 3 or 2 gen themselves towards the late game, which makes it very easy to patrol and apply pressure. With pop goes the weasel it is absolutely devastating for them.

If you want to replenish your hope for playing killer, watch the likes of Fungoose, Dowsey, Scott Jund, ZubatLEL, etc. These players 4K 39/40 games at red ranks. Fungoose went on a 115 4K streak with no add-ons, no mori Plague at red ranks.

I mean, not really it just means you your forces to play killers that down people quickly to force others off gens

It rewards gen pressure instead of punishing survivor mistakes. It can be a big help but I haven't used it since the change and popular opinion is I suck but I still manage to clean house. It takes some adjusting to. A ton of this game isn't so simple. You've got to pick up on the variables in your team, the map, the killer and then you have to account for them and your weak spots. Every game having the same goals hides how tricky it can be.

I feel you shouldn't rely on hex perks because of their temporary nature. Play a few games naked then go back and grab some perks and stuff. You might surprise yourself with your choices after. The perks alter your priorities and playing naked can help figure out what perks you want to use to cover your imperfections.

Welcome to necro Friday, I guess.

That's a sales pitch. Fungoose is by all means one to watch if you want to learn, but he's a confirmed dodger with his supposedly 'anti-sniping screen' and how he cherry-picks off-peak hours to play in an already small pond where he's the big fish. It's all good and I'd do the same, because streaming for a living is a roller-coaster and one needs something that'll make'em stand out. However, don't put too much stock into the promotional slogans and rather focus more on the educational content.

A good killer could 4k consistently in the red ranks because most survivors aren't that good. Those killers who come here posting about their mental breakdowns are simply overestimating their skills. However, when you're up against the really good survivors, you won't 4k like it's a walk in the park, which is as it should be.

The new ruin is pgtw but you need to do something it's not free pressure anymore which is a good thing.

True, but the game as solo survivor is dogshit as well. I can count the games on one hand, where i get actually a good looper that could waste the killers time more than 1 minute.

The past ruin was a "crutch", the new one is not bad, but because it is a hex perk, it's still not good. They should reduce the cleansing speed and a noise should appear, when a survivor is on it, like with thrill of the hunt.

I mean, he's in Aus where the queue times are bad, and he has been stream sniped. Watching the guy play, he really doesn't look like he needs to fudge the numbers: the people he plays against seem about as good as the people I play against at peak hours UK, if not better. I wouldn't call it confirmed, and my judgement's based off watching him get the streak, not the fact of it having happened.

Hex ruin is useless now with the update since it only affects the generators the survivors have come off of so if you're in a chase as you said the other survivors can still easily continue the generator starting one then another probably finishing them super quickly in pairs. I think it's a pointless perk now and let's be honest it's probably cleansed before the chase even becomes an issue.

i only use ruin on pig and legion, Imo pgtw is better if you yourself are a good killer and since i consider myself pretty good since i can down survivors quickly i find that the perk is better than ruin at least on killers that have something to help them end chases or if they have a power that helps traverse the map or stall the game.

If you are nothing without ruin, then you shouldn't have it.

Gen slow down perks are vastly over rated.

Tracking and perks that help end chases are way better at high ranks. Having a guy on a hook and another slugged/in chased is the best gen pressure.

Don't get me wrong a well hidden ruin or good use of pop can really help you. But it's not always the case. Ruin can get popped super early and with pop sometimes you don't even use it that often because you find someone else to chase right away.
