Help Me Understand This: Is My Lost Legacy Gone Forever Now?
As an FYI, I earned two legacy pieces back in 2016: Legacy Skin 1 and Legacy Skin 2 for Trapper (Trapper's Cleaver and Trapper's Mask as Legacy Items). Around this time of the year in 2017, I lost my legacy cosmetics to the progress loss bug. I contacted the developers once every year following the day I lost my legacy and they told me to keep an eye out for more updates. On one of the more recent dev streams, about 3 years later after I lost my legacy, I think it was Mathieu Cote himself that said that unless they have an extremely reliable way to go back and check for proof, they were going to hold off for the time being. This gave me at least a little hope of getting my legacy back, but the new news that shows up when you open the game confused me. It was a little difficult for me to fully understand what it was trying to say so I'm asking for some help from a reliable person in the community about retrieving lost legacy cosmetics. Will I ever be able to get my lost legacy back or am I stuck in a 'too bad, they're gone forever' situation? As some form of proof, I have the screenshot of the day I prestiged Trapper to Prestige 2 on November 22, 2016 at 7:01 P.M. Looking at my achievements may confuse some people since it says that I obtained Prestige 3 and Prestige 3 Level 50 within minutes of each other. What happened there was a bug which made players at the time possibly get multiple prestige achievements in a short period of time for no reason. That was happening around late December, 2016.
To end this off, I seriously hope I'll be able to get back my lost legacy. I lost it due to something completely out of my control and I strongly feel like that's extremely unfair towards players who have lost legacy cosmetics such as myself.
EDIT: Sorry, I guess it's pretty important to provide a link to my achievements as so people can see the date when the prestige 2 screenshot was taken. https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198157031289

I realize this post is a few days old, but the Devs seem to have completely given up on the issue. They seem to want people to think it's impossible to identify who lost legacy when it's not as you can look at their achievements and at least give the player one set of legacy back for one character. Of course this would be a compromise, but still something.
They're ignoring this possibility.

Steam achievements can be spoofed, that's the problem.
The dates can't - but even back in the legacy days, people would hack steam achievements.
2 -
True but from my experience hackers tend to hack all achievements in at the exact same time. (I've reported many of them). Meaning many of them would be able to be easily distinguished from the people who legitimately prestiged over a matter of days/weeks.
I also doubt many players that hacked achievements from 2016 would still be around to try to claim legacy or have even heard of it. This is probably just another game out of their entire steam library that they hacked achievements in.
3 -
That is a gross misconceptions. Even back in the old days of DBD, hackers would hack their achievements at different times on different days.

I'm not going to argue further about what hackers did when hacking their achievements after this comment because we both can't be for sure and I'm sure there's some anomalies. But from my personal experience, after reporting 19 users (that I took note of) - the vast majority of them from my recollection hacked in all of the currently available achievements at the same time, same minute.
But anyway. I'd like to add the Devs could view the achievement dates as mandatory and if those don't satisfy them, they could view steam achievements and video proof from those users too. So, it'd still be a valuable (and perhaps mandatory) requirement to have prestige achievements before the cutoff date along with other evidence. But as I said to icemancat, the Devs seem to have completely given up on the issue so I'm not going to get my hopes up.

They could give them to everyone that owned the game at that time. If youve been playing since 2016 youve earned them imo
2 -
Wdym they can be spoofed? They are server sided stored, you can't modify the dates.
0 -
Exactly my thoughts. And even if not, should we really deny lost progress legacy to the poor veterans just because a bunch of people hacked achievements? Just give them legacy aswell then, they probably don't even have 1 hour of playtime and will never play dbd.
1 -
How do you know about that?

I didn't say dates can be spoofed. I said achievements.
Reading - learn how.
1 -
Because before it was considered bannable, the steam forums were riddled with discussions about it.

So we are holding back legacy for loss progress players because some dudes unlocked achievements 4 years ago? Amazing reason.
4 -
I believe this is relevant to the conversation and the Post is a good indication of the loss some point feel towards the legacy decision.
4 -
So - here's where I take you off your pseudo high ground with a swift roundhouse kick.
I had legacy. On all 4 original killers, and the first 4 survivors (everyone except Nea). I also lost it. So I actually understand it.
People who earned it, it was MINIMUM 200 hours, per character, of grinding, to get full legacy. Back then, there was no way to verify who got what like there is now. Those are metrics they didn't have before. I'd rather not have my legacy back then have people like you given it for free.
I understand the plight far more than you do. So knock off your arrogant crap.

long story short: The Answer is nope. My friend is fighting for years now to get his legacy stuff back and nothing happened so far...

I’m just gonna repost my comment here:
I genuinely believe that giving people who bought the game in 2016 should have legacy.
I bought the game on launch, didn’t get my legacy because it wasn’t worth getting bloody clothing (I had NO idea there were legacy plans in the future), and then they diss the 2016 community. Long-time players who didn’t get their legacy are completely separated from 2016 players who got legacy already (because people believe legacy means someone is better no matter when you started playing), and this just killed it for me and a lot of other veteran players because it felt more like they are prioritizing new players and shoving away old players who rightfully earned this special clothing (and didn’t get it because they were either smart or lost it).
Some people complain that legacy is just a piece of clothing and we should get over it, but that’s not the reason people feel special if they get legacy: the devs commemorated us for staying with them at a time where the game was heavily unbalanced, and gave us a TOKEN OF APPRECIATION. BIG FOCUS ON THAT. I, and many others, simply never got any appreciation because of the devs’ lack of understanding when it comes to legacy. I DID THAT GRIND FOR HALF A YEAR, and I feel treated like scum because of the lack of understanding.
I hope one day the devs will treat people who have stuck around since the beginning like they should be: people who helped the game rise to what it is today. Without us, there would be no Dead by Daylight.

"I'd rather not have my legacy back than have people like you given it for free"
He's not the one spewing arrogant crap.
Elitism at it's finest folks.

There's a difference between elitism and arrogance. The way he responded was in total arrogance, like a know-it-all. I responded in kind. Consult your nearest dictionary in between editing your videos. :D
Your video LITERALLY says legacy should be treated the same as event cosmetics - and because of that your opinion is invalid. Two COMPLETELY different things, and two COMPLETELY different amounts of dedication required. HUNDREDS of hours of difference. Go ahead - jump again, get knocked down. I enjoy whack-a-mobile, Mr. Space Walnut.
6 -
Can you not? An opinion is an opinion, it can’t be invalidated. If you think this is what the main message was, you need to rethink the whole situation. How about you read what I commented, and then try again.
besides, I’m pretty sure @SpaceCoconut Meant people who played in 2016 should get legacy
3 -
Opinions can be validated, if they are full of logical flaws.
If you say "The earth is flat in my opinion", that is an invalid opinion. Just like saying "event cosmetics are logically the same as legacy". It's an invalid opinion because they couldn't be more different.
1 -
Oh you have some attitude xD lmao can't take you serious little kiddo.
0 -
???
An opinion isn’t a fact, therefore it cannot be invalidated. End of story.

Your opinion is invalid.
That, right there, is where you lose. Name calling. Take the L and move on. You can't win. You don't have what it takes. It's funny though, coming from you. Someone with one of the biggest "know-it-all" attitudes in these forums judging by your post history.

Thank you, what a weird guy. I rather give back legacy to those who earned it but risk giving out legacy to a few achievements hackers in 2016 than not giving back what people lost just so that a few achievement hackers won't get it either. Besides the fact that most achievement hackers just want to unlock all achievements and never play the games anyway.
0 -
That wasn't trolling - that was me literally giving you what you asked for.
0 -
It's funny how all of you say that - given that I'm the only one here who seems to have earned legacy cosmetics. Hmmm.
Are we achievement hackers? :O POG.

This is what Legacy Arrogance and Elitism looks like.
2 -
Holy heck, you really are an elitist.
if you have nothing to contribute other than spewing nonsense and trying to start flame wars, go somewhere else.
As well as that, you further proved the text in my first comment I made is a fact.
6 -
Your claim isn't worth anything and just because others don't bark loud like you doesn't mean they don't have legacy. But am u trying to explain to a kiddo lmao

That, right there, is where you lose. Name calling. Take the L and move on. You can't win.
... you literally called space coconut "mr. Space walnut" in a previous post...
How is that any diferent?

You do not speak for everyone who had legacy. You have an opinion and everybody can have their opinion, you do not get to invalidate any opinion of anybody else. But since you need to write with twitch emotes, i doubt you were even playing the game back in 2016.
