Understandably it's not hard to counter.
Just wait it out or eat the DS, if it's early game eat that DS get it out of the way so they can't use it later since it's only a one time deal light unbreakable.
If it's late game then they're dead to stay and dead to get out so either way they've lost the match because they tried to force a DS on you.

Only change the DS needs is to deactivate when another survivor is hooked and you're not in a dying state.

If you are really desperate to get the survivor then just wait at the locker. Otherwise you can choose to go chase someone else.

I often hook someone, as hag, someone triggers a trap, I down them, bam get DSed. Like, I was not tunneling at all and the Meg made a bad play and now I am punished for punishing her bad p[lay.

I know the feeling. I once had a match as plague where I hooked Dwight and then two survivors after him. He tries to go make a save and I down and pick him up. He must have had a second or two of his DS left. Well I still 4k'd at 4 gens left so it's not like the DS mattered in that match but it is so annoying in matches where you actually need the hook to get PGTW because you are getting genrushed into oblivion.

Its not an anti-tunnelling perk. It’s literally there to slow down your momentum. It just happens to *counter tunnelling
*Most of the time you’ll still get tunnelled anyway.

I only hop in the locker for the last second or so if I've already been tunneled/running for the whole minute after getting off the hook and couldn't shake the killer. I imagine most people jump in the locker cause they're being tunneled. You can wait the minute or choose to chase someone else. I usually just eat the DS if I want the survivor that badly. It's usually fine if its early game :)
