So queue times are bad AND matchmaking is bad at the same time now?
Can an expert in programming tell me how Survivor queues are long, killer queues are long, and even when you get a game the ranks are not even close... like one of these things shouldn’t be happening because they’re supposed to make up for the other aren’t they?
If wait for a “fair game,” I would take an unbalanced quickly if that’s what they forced on me... but to wait and still get ranks ranging from 1-19 is just astoundingly bad programming right?

A possible explanation:
Queues are long because the matchmaker is trying to get you people of similar rank. You don't get matched with people of similar rank because you've been waiting too long so it just tosses you into a lobby.

I don’t get that though, as a red rank survivor I’m waiting which implies no red or purple killers are playing... but as red killer I’m waiting which implies no red or purple survivors are playing... but my team is always 2-3 red rank survivors against a 15 killer it’s just off

Like I said, it was just a possible explanation. The simplest explanation is obvious and probably correct: matchmaking is just not working properly.

My survivor games are instant (almost)
Killer has an ungodly queue for me right now.
i think it's both that crowns are far easier to get on killer than survivor, and killers getting more BP during events but idk...

Can confirm as of today ps4 que times are awful for both sides
10+ mins for survivor
8+ mins for killer
Ranks are all over the place like normal.

Nice! Yeah it took me 2 games but i eeked it out with 1 gen left in the second game

Took me like 3 games. In one 2 Survivors just escaped thank to the hatch and keys when 2 gens were remaining.

Yeah this is kind of unplayable atm. As a red rank survivor, I wait 3-5 minutes to get a green or yellow rank killer. As a red rank killer, I can't get a game. I don't know how long the queue is. At least 10 minutes before I give up. So uh, yeah, I guess I'll go do something else. Good stuff.

4 survivors to every 1 killer... Ideally in that 64k that would mean there are 16k killers, and 48k survivors, but naturally, people want to play the more fun and less frustrating role, so the killer players are more likely in the 10k range, which would mean fast queue times for killers, but longer waits for survivors. However, a new killer was just introduced, so that may increase the killer player amount to 20-25k, which would mean that for them and survivors, queue times increase dramatically. It's just the nature of the game... More players often means longer wait times, unless more than half of the player base is playing survivor.
Currently however, this event has more people playing killer than normal. Mostly because killers earn the crowns faster, and get more Ghastly Gateau's in their bloodwebs (seriously, I P3'ed Pyramid Head, and with my saved up BP brought him to Lvl 43, and ended up with 36 Ghastly Gateau's!). So... Queue times are increased for both sides because more people are playing killer than the ideal amount.

For me survivor games get found almost instantly while killer games take around 5 minutes maybe more to queue. I think the main reason for this is that there are lots of killers trying to play and not many survivors trying to play at the moment.

It's probably because there's not enough high rank killers to go around, so matchmaking gets all gunked up trying to make the best games possible.
That's the only legitimate reason I can see for getting so many groups of 4 red-rank survivors as a 10/11 killer. Which is a real bummer cause I de-pipped on purpose to get away from the toxic cesspool of red-rank survivors and now I have to play them anyway.

This crap has been going on since right before the Stranger Things DLC released, because the MM was just as effed up during that free weekend for its release, too. And I left soon afterward because I grew sick of it. Here we are in summer 2020, and it's still the same.
ASAP and BHVR do not exist in the same space-time continuum. Hell, I'm waiting to see if the new Hidden MMR matchmaker releases this summer as alluded to in the Anniversary Stream. It's definitely an: I'll believe it when I see it, situation.
