Rage Quitting / Disconnecting [NOT ADVOCATING BANS]
I don't know why, but over the last months the amount of survivors (mainly, killers can do it too) that will disconnect from a game sometimes as soon as they get downed for the first time is ruining the game. This happens mostly at ranks 20-10 but since the rank reset is a thing I need to claw my way out of these ranks every month in games where it's always 3v1 or 2v1 (2v1 is not uncommon). This is honestly a disgrace and it's killing my desire to play survivor by a large amount.
I propose we fix this the only way we know how. We apply the League of Legends mentality. If you disconnect from a game in progress, you are locked out of matchfinding for 5 minutes. If you disconnect again, you are locked out of matchmaking for 30 minutes for the rest of the day.
Some people have proposed a "BP debt", where you either substract a given amount from the current BP (going negative of course, since people would just easily spent all their BP), or where you can not earn BP for a specific amount of time/games completed.
I disagree with these solutions, because you can quickly get to a point where people will accept the fact they won't ever earn BP again and will actively start trolling games. The League of Legends model works way better, and it has proven itself to be the best model.
This needs to be implemented into the game ASAP. There's no reason to let these people ruin everyone else games. Especially since Survivors are expected to risk their items only to end up in games that are lost after 30 seconds.

We have all been asking for disconnect ban penalties for months. Fingers crossed....

Coding this solution will take literally a day for one person to do. They just need to say do it and do it this way. It's not bloody hard, you just have to give a flying rat.

De-pipping at rank 20-15 doesn't even do anything cus you can't drop in rank. That's the whole reason this started to become so rampant. I could guess that people at level 20 have always done this, and now that you can actually rank up to 15 playing like that the behavior has gotten reinforced and started to propagate. People see that other people dc all the time, they are more likely to also dc. I know at least I have dc'd more in the last week then in the last 6 months.

LOL. After the last stream I talked to Not_Queen in Twitch chat and she told me it's LITERALLY IMPOSSIBLE for them to do this right now. Didn't say why when I asked, just that it's IMPOSSIBLE.

The game already knows the difference between not getting into the game and leaving during the game in progress. What you're suggesting is simply not true.

Can you explain how you are going to tell the difference between somebody losing connection due to Comcast or somebody pulling the plug? Will it be the host or client that reports this to the servers that occasionally lose people's progress? How will you make sure this is authentic and not being spoofed by a hack? Will you be able to ensure the killer that DC'd wasn't DoS'd by a salty survivor?
I expect a full report Mister!

The problem with banning people who disconnect is that you reeallly don't know why they left, they could have raged sure, but they also could have bad internet and it kicked them. When someone DCs i'll message them asking "Rage or bad internet?". I don't want to look like a douche when I tell them to "Grow up and deal with it" when them leaving wasn't their fault. If you have Frontier as an internet provider you'll most definitely know they are trash, and you know you will most likely get booted from a match because you lost connection.

No, but I'm also suggesting the implementing a possible fix is not as easy as you think it is... like most of the user's I support on a day to day basis.

My internet has crapped out multiple times IN THE MIDDLE OF THE MATCH, not in the loading screen, THE MIDDLE OF THE MATCH. It even happened in a KYF and the symbol that my friend saw was the cord unplugging, even though I never paused the game and manually quit.

You forget that internet can have days with good connection and days with bad connection. You DON'T get to decide "Hmmm, hey internet router, if you're good today you might get a treat."

You put a variable with the time in wherever your rank or EXP is stored online, literally in the same way those two negative rank pips are put in the online storage when you disconnect right now.During all the stuff that happens when you join a lobby, the game checks that variable. The game checks if you should currently be in timeout, and if that state is yes you get kicked from matchmaking. We know your client side game talks to the global save files at the devs servers cus you get matched based on your rank.
YES IT'S REALLY THAT EASY. I AWAIT TO BE TOLD OTHERWISE BY THE DEVS.

Then maybe don't play a game where you ######### over 3 other people everytime you get disconnected. That never occured to you? Go play a different game or yell at your ISP. It's not everyone elses problem.
Small minds tick me off like nothing else in this world...

There is already a system in place for this on PC ONLY. The devs specifically talked about it in the stream last week, though their threshold is much higher than yours. It is an automatic system, so they don’t take reports on the matter. FYI, here is no banning system at all for consoles, but they are looking into creating one similar to what they have on PC. With consoles, you are required to follow certain rules for each console platform. For more information, watch the video on YouTube.
What do you mean by threshold. I'm not talking about banning anyone read what I said #########.

The salty one here sounds like you. Just last night I got dc'd twice for no reason I was playing with one other friend and he didn't get dc'd. And my internet is good. Before you ask.

Also "Then maybe don't play a game where you [BAD WORD] over 3 other people everytime you get disconnected." Maybe you shouldn't assume that people ONLY play survivor. Go beg for DS buffs or some other survivor crap and stop being a douche to people who are trying to explain their point of view.

I'm aware the game has a huge issue with people disconnecting during the load screen. But you already dont get penalized for when that happens.I've never seen anyone get disconnected during a match in progress that wasn't obviously a ragequit.

No I did, I'm aware there should be a penalty for people who rage quit. But that penalty shouldn't have the capacity to also backfire and punish people with bad internet! I understand what you're trying to say but you seem to not understand what I'M trying to say. Instead of calling people idiots because they don't fully agree with your idea, maybe stop acting like everybody is at fault and maybe there can be a real discussion here.

This problem isn't going to be addressed until the game has dedicated hosts.

They would get banned, if BHVR's banning system was worth a damn.
Currently every month players need a majority of DC from games played to even start getting soft bans. (So I have heard)
Some people told me it was like DC from 60/100 or 70/100. I don't know the exact percent, but it sounds like it somewhere between 60-70% of games need to be DCed before anything can be done.
So of course, survivors will play out X amount of games for X amount DCed, it is a poorly designed and flawed system. And if this is the system, even if it becomes lets say 20/100, a much smaller number. That's not going to stop someone who wants to DC on purpose. They will always fine a way around.
Basically...
Soon™

Regardless of the reason you DC, you should get a penalty. Sorry for the legitimate few this happens to but it would help far more than it would hurt. Unless you are chain DC'ing unintentionally (which, at that point, get your connection looked at), it will barely affect you.
I think I have had my connection drop maybe 2 or 3 times in over 200 hours of play.
I have stopped playing regularly due to the DC's. It's just not fun.

sorry but the devs not implementing a time out penalty for people disconnecting is pure and simple incompetence, if people get affected by it because they have ######### internet so be it. I'd take that collateral damage any day of the week, if you have good internet your game shouldn't be disconnecting a good 8/10 matches1

Yea something needs to be done about all the disconnects. I've played 3 games today where the person doesn't do gens, then kills them self when they get hooked because they want to de-rank. One of them had this to say when I called him out.
