I don't know why I'm making such a big deal about characters.
I want to stick to just one character for sure i just don't know who, I like both steve and Cheryl, I love both of them, sadly Cheyl's outfits aren't really g r e a t so I'm not sure what I'd like, and I honestly think that steve's perks are a bit better then Cheryl's, any advice or opinions?

The perks don't matter. You can unlock them all in every character.

Don't go by looks alone. Sometimes the noises a character makes can be the deal breaker.
I know it's funny to make Bill cough but as a huge Left 4 Dead fan back in the day, I was sure I'd want to play Bill as my main.
Ugh, that coughing. I couldn't stand listening to that coughing.
For Steve, can you stand the sounds that he makes? I could not if I wanted to play him as main.
Ultimately, you can unlock the perks you want eventually for any character, so I'd worry more about the total experience of using the character 'skin' you choose.
Then again, it's easy to switch. I cycled through Dwight, then Jeff then Ace and somehow, I'm pretty much playing Nea as my main, go figure.

well I use iron will in most of my perk set ups but I see what you mean I've been using females since I started and I kinda wanted to get more into playing a guy character I just wasn't sure who, I thought about dwight but I don't like his skins but Steve seemed like a cool option

steve has one of the worst screams in the game personally and makes me laugh to this day at how pathetic it is. I’m biased but, Nancy is better 😌. Better Perks, quieter and Smaller also she doesn’t have a terrible scream.
I mean i’m totally not biased. 😳
