Devs, why nerf billy if you're happy with current billy?
The first paragraph of the dev update explains how fair it is to play as and against billy, BY DEVS YOURSELF.
So.. why nerf him? Doesn't that skew the already balanced state of him? Why touch the already balanced killer? There are so many low tier killers that need help (Clown, legion, trapper, etc..), and you guys are touching the one you believe that's the most fair for both sides? WHY?
Or you guys just decide to put a red bar to his power because you can't come out with add-ons idea? Seriously, why?

Maybe they think they can be even happier with him by doing this.
11 -
They did it cuz every other insta down killer has a Cooldown and this Cooldown won’t effect you if you are good with billy and don’t have to back rev too much it’s also to remove the annoying chainsaw face camping
12 -
Then why don't do the same thing to legion and clown? Are they more happier with current clown and legion than current billy?
1 -
Maybe.
They're doing this right now, probably got no time messing with those two.
4 -
They actually are happy with legion. Apparently as far as mid tier go they are it. Dead center in the stats, it got mentioned awhile ago so I highly doubt legions on the radar.
Honestly I barely ever face billy to the point it's easy to forget he exists. Seems like he should have changes aside from nerfs that will remove the one billy per hundred matches. Face more hags and plagues.
2 -
Then you can't just slap the same cooldown to billy when he's already in balanced state without compensating him.
0 -
I'm not sure about that. All they came out with clown is the slowdown removal, and they're now very happy with him, and saying he's underrated at the same time.
0 -
They did compensate tho with better add ons I don’t know why anyone is surprised by the change we knew about this I think around when Oni came out if not before then that billy was gonna be getting a Cooldown in the future to make them on par with all the other insta downs
3 -
Because they balance the game around potatoes. It seems that rank 20s are more important than rank 1s unfortunately
13 -
Yeah but thats crap and most of us know that. That change they made doesnt feel like they did much of anything to me. If yoi think about it clown and bubba are very similar in that they are both just m1 killers with no map pressure. The only difference is bubba has a one shot potential in his base kit. If he warranted these changes then clown deserves more too
0 -
So yeah, they did that, they say it's good for now at least, and are doing this now.
0 -
Probably because they've got a new mechanic coming in that will change the start game, which means current Billy would be much stronger so they had to make changes.
6 -
They probably have plans for other killers as well, in the last year we’ve had multiple changes, nerfs, buffs and QoL tweaks to killers but they tend to do them one at a time, presumably because that‘s the best way to manage it rather than changing a ton of things all at once.
Like @KingFrost said, they announced changes to the early game and these changes probably buff the lower tier killers enough that they don’t want to touch them until after that’s launched.
0 -
Yes! I’m glad someone finally commented on this. Everyone is screaming about the nerfs when there is an apparent universal buff to killers coming.
Billy does exceptionally well now, with no start game slow down, he can traverse the map in seconds, instantly down somebody, hook and down someone again before the first generator even pops. Both him, Freddy and Spirit are already top tier killers at the moment but with the slowdown at the start of the game, they are going to be near impossible to beat if they’re above average.
They made it so Freddy didn’t spawn with his generator projecting power because the Devs acknowledge how annoying being found in seconds is yet Billy can do the exact same thing AND instant down someone at the same time.

The billy update sounds pretty bad. Definitely disappointing to see what they're doing to him
0 -
TBF, they actually said "For the most part, we are happy with the way The Hillbilly performs."
1 -
This is a fair point, but remember, the relative strength of a killer is not always the deciding factor as to why most people choose to play them - ask anyone who plays legion, clown and so on. The good thing about billy was that he was fun and strong. Now he will just be strong (my opinion, obviously). Think nurse as well - she's still extremely strong, but very few people ever play her anymore, because her gameplay loop became more of a chore than something you can enjoy.

They can't change everything at once. Bubba and Billy were long overdue for an addon pass/rework, so they most likely have higher priority.
1 -
It is obvious, by your comments, that you only play survivor.
I advise you to play some killer games at rank 1 and then quote me
1 -
Well I don’t think the “fun” factor is going anywhere with Billy. For reference, I do play a heck a lot of Billy, you’re only going to see an issue with overheat mechanic when you rev your chainsaw completely around a loop, if you look at Bubba’s overheat, it’s actually a pretty long time, and don’t forget addons are in place to dull the mechanic.
I understand that people think Billy is fun because a) you can just sprint around the map in laps and b) you can just curve around obstacles really easily.
A) Sprinting isn’t interrupted which means if you’re semi-good at Billy there won’t be an issue there.
B) Curving isn’t going to be as bad as everyone says it is- when I curve I don’t do the whole rev my chainsaw and go back and forth trying to mindgame because I think that’s a waste of time, maybe that’s just me though, you might be able to cheese a hit once or twice if the survivor allows it. This does not mention the new addons for Billy to curve with, it looks like those addons are getting buffed (hopefully they reduce the hefty stun of the moonshine).

what this new new game mechanic coming that few so sure on?

In this post you mostly talk about strength and ability to do stuff - that wasn't my point. He will still be strong and he will still be able to use his chainsaw around loops and jungle gyms (i think). I have no issue with that.
I'll give you a personal example: currently when playing billy my chainsaw is out maybe 90% of the time - be it around loops, trying to get a survivor from 10-20 m away, or just zooming around the map. It's just a really fun power to use regardless of whether playing like I do extends or shortens a chase (it goes both ways). With the change it feels like I'll be on cooldown most of the time which will sap all of the fun from playing that killer. I won't lie, some of the addons do look interesting, but in the past I've never had to use addons to enjoy the killer.

There is a good sentence for that:
NEVER CHANGE A RUNNING SYSTEM.

Okay?

They are happy with him, but hardly anyone plays him.
How are these changes going to make him more appealing to people? Backwards logic here.

LMAO
Welcome to the club billy.
1 -
Let's hope it's something significant that actually helps killers.
0 -
That meg is scary LOL
0 -
But it doesn't affect Billies who just back rev... they're not the ones using their chainsaws all match. It affects Billies who don't instantly down people when beginning a chainsaw, which is the majority of better players.
None of this makes sense in terms of proper balance.
P.S. Even though I like this meme, I think it's cool that English hasn't dominated all name pronunciations.
0 -
I don't like this "if you're a good _____ it won't affect you" mentality. People are not good with the character when they start, so if you make him miserable to play, no one will learn. Look at nurse, she's so incredibly difficult and punishing to learn that no one plays her.
If you keep adding these ridiculous things, you're going to see nothing but Freddy, trapper, and doctor.
3 -
Please go back and watch the video it only overheats quickly if you back rev too much otherwise it barely goes up when you are sprinting it is a very minor nerf while yes one we don’t need rn since sound is messed up no color blind options and spirit has no counter but it’s something that at a point would need to be done anyways wait until the ptb you will see it isn’t that bad
0 -
The billy in that video uses a purple and yellow add-ons. And we don't even know what they do. Those might change how the overheat works.
0 -
people only look at negatives, that's why this community is so hard to have discussions with.
0 -
Wow the ol' reliable "I have nothing of substance to say in response so I'm just going say you don't play killer." Do you guys go to a special meeting where you come up with your cliched phrases?
0 -
It is a minor nerf it won’t effect people at all most likely but what it does is add incentive to learn the killer not just play back rev easy mode with no real mind game
0 -
It was in words not just the video about how overheat works it works exactly as in the video
0 -
Yes, I'm aware. I'm talking about revving around pallets to try to get curves or revving just to make survivors not go in a direction. Additionally, that was only a little under ten seconds of use and the chainsaw was overheated by 50%. The revving took up 25% in 2 seconds and the sprinting took up a little under 25% in seven seconds.
I mean, for Billies who just like zooming around the map for fun with double turning add-ons and don't necessarily manage to kill people effectively, this removes their ability to do so.
It's the same direction as the Nurse rework, whether this Billy change is impactful or not. It's a "**** the players who play this for fun while we don't touch the aspects of the killer than super effective killers use to kill survivors easily and rapidly".
1 -
The thing is powers are meant to be situational not an all the time thing so yes certain loops if you can’t zone them out you will have to use a basic attack if you will overheat
0 -
Woah woah woah. Did you just pull the "Since I think powers should be situational, it means that they must be" card on me? As in killers are all M1 at base (cough Huntress? Nurse? cough) and only have powers to identify them from one another?
Dude, not cool to assert your opinion as fact like that. I don't tell you how to play Hillbilly to have fun.
2 -
that’s not an opinion it’s a fact but ok? And you just gave reference to a killer who does have to m1 on certain loops if hatchets can’t hit or you are out and one that is a basic attack killer all about timing when to do it
0 -
Also how about stop pulling the opinions card cuz that’s what all these posts are opinions ignoring the facts before these changes there is no downside to spamming the power too much
0 -
I dont get why every change to a killer is the end of the world. Billy is still going to be good and strong and on and on and on. It just gets rid of people spamming the chainsaw around the loops and actually use your brain on when to chainsaw. I dont see this as a bad change, and if you're a good Billy it won't affect you much
0 -
Ok
0 -
funny who going to play killer when all killer stop?
0 -
How I've seen most Billy's play is by revving at a loop, the curving into people. That's the mind game. If anything, this change will encourage you to get right behind someone and rev.
0 -
This is probably true, since you can't really do revving and curving at loop with this overheat mechanics. So, mediocre billy main will not be affected, but those who really invest time to become veteran billy will be hurt severely
Also, this mechanics just make new players harder to learn billy because it essentially cuts down your chainsaw usage to half, just like what they did to nurse.
0 -
Because it gives a window of room to breathe that punishes the killer for ######### up.
It's the same reason they took away Nurse's 5 blinks: there has to be some sort of reward for being able to outplay a killer. Just like Huntress, how she can't just keep chucking hatchets over, and over, and over, and over infinitely. She has to reload and cool down at some point.
0 -
I feel Billy was one of the most balanced killers in the game. Kinda strange that they've decided to touch him.
I will say this though, there was a lot of panty wetting on here when Freddy and Doc got changed, then people tried them and they were a lot better than before. 2 strong killers now.
0 -
My guess is that they added the overheat stuff to billy to make it homogenous to bubba, as theyre both using chainsaws. No other reason except maybe " strong killer bad, protect the potatoes"
Off topic but its kinda sad that killers get their peak performance wingclipped (nurse, spirit billy nerfs) while top survivor performance is untouchable. Swf advantage is all stuff outside the trial and ingame mechanics, cant nerf the advantages because theyre not there. Unless the devs add voicecomms or a message system, any buff to solo will affect swf too.
