Just holding W is stronger than people realize
Now obviously there is a lot to be said for great loopers than can extend chases for 3-4-5 gens using jungle gyms and mind games... not trying to make that sound unimpressive or unnecessary.
But a great many players would be so much better just holding W and making distance as often as possible rather than waiting and trying to play every loop.
As killer I’ve often had players run me around a loop once, drop the pallet and take off when I break it. Even if they do nothing special this can waste huge amounts of time. If, IF IF your teammates are doing gens the killer can easily lose 2-3 gens and there are still plenty of pallets to play the rest of the game for everyone else.
Again, learning proper looping is essential to eventually get better but so many players would be better of running straight ahead rather than camping a pallet, eating a hit AND wasting a pallet, then standing there blinding the killer like their favorite streamers do.

This is why Gap Closing is such an important stat. Covering the initial distance is a big part of a chase

Not familiar with the term? Is this why things like Monitor and stealth killers can be stronger in some circumstances?

Break line of sight and hide behind something. Also I noticed when I 360 it works maybe once or twice then a good killer catches on and I don’t get away with it again.

I’ve had so many people try to 360 Me lately and when I hit them they’re still spinning... so instead of gaining ground from the hit speed burst they’re an easy down
2 -
Yes that’s happened to me before. I only 360 in dire situations when I’m out in the open with the red stain on me.

They try that "tech" when after a hit you spin around and hide inside the killer bcs you have no collision with him and they replicate it like some youtubers/streamers do. Yeah, it works against yellow ranks or people that dont play killer that much, but vs experienced killers it becomes a problem.

Do window techs still work? Haven’t attempted one in awhile.

Yep, people who try to copy that don’t realize that for every one success shown on YouTube there were probably 10 failed attempts.
See yet above, it works if the killers new or maybe just not 100% paying attention. It’s risky though but if you’re just playing for fun and silly plays it’s good

Thanks guys!

if you were to drop a pallet and the killer kicked it while you ran in a straght line you would buy yourself around 20 seconds which is enough for your team to get most of a gen done just off of one pallet and running in a straight line, when healthy be as greedy and run in straight lines as much as possible but when injured play it more safe but still keep in mind dropping a pallet gives you about 20 seconds of running away which is more than enough time to move 80 meters to the other side of a map and use map resources effectively

it is. if u have iron will if not you probably will get caught way easier. it dpeends on the killer tho try to hold w against spirit lol

Yup. Also Killers like Huntress and Billy

God I hate when people run straight line. I can shoot wiggles and and loopers but those fearless straight line runners who don’t curve to the nearest loop or wiggle when I raise my gun, those people, I cannot catch them. >:(

True, although since she’s 110 if you know the spirit just used her phase just running straight is pretty solid

I mainly play killer, and i can confirm this. Running in straight line, bringing the killer across the whole map is very, very strong.
When i play survivor, i will definitely do this because i know it hurts the killer the most, and also try to prove that survivor can "outplay" killer by just running in straight line. The killer either drop the chase, or commit it, and either way he's in disadvantage.

That’s what made me start doing it on my survivor, as killer people just ran straight ahead never even looked back (which I do) and I thought, “this dude isn’t even good but is wasting my time.”
I mean, the second part is you have to hope your teammates are doing gens and not hiding in lockers or bushes... as solo survivor I have little faith in that lol

Honestly, if every survivors do this, even better with sprint burst, and just a bit decent in looping, they'll win majority of the game, even in red ranks.
People just don't acknowledge how strong running in straight line is, even devs don't. It really doesn't require any skill from survivor side, and it gives a huge reward

The W key truly is the survivors greatest weapon.

Someone did lengthy calculations for 24 and 32 meter killers who had to hit survivors twice and mathematically if they just ran in straight lines and everyone was always in a gen or saving someone the killer literally couldn’t win.
Of course that never happens, people waste time, killers have gen regression perks, can bring a mori, some have instant downs, but it showed how survivor sided the game is solely from a math standpoint

This is the smartest post i’ve seen on here in awhile. Holding forward requires literally no thought or skill, and yet wastes a ton of time. It is especially brutal against slower killers like Deathslinger and Huntress, even more so on maps with alot of LOS blockers.
