Why are people so upset about the Billy changes?
So quite a few people are upset about this and i'm actually wondering why?
In the first part of the video the bar was a quarter filled and he sprinted for 8 seconds and it only ended about halfway which means to get it completly full you would have to sprint for 24ish seconds. How often does that happen?
Second part the meter was halfway and it took 6 seconds to overheat. Which means it takes 12 seconds in total. Even when doing the mindgame at a loop if you rev for 12 seconds you're not doing a good job at it.
The only thing I see affecting this is Billy's who keep the chainsaw revved in front of a hooked survivor.
Not to mention that in return for this we get new addons to play with.
We all knew Billy was going to get changed. You all should be ecstatic it's as minimal as this. We can't know for sure untill the ptb ofcourse. But so far it really doesn't seem like a big deal at all.
Hell the only thing I'm worried about is that Billy seems to scream now when he goes for a sprint and i have a feeling that might be a map wide scream like Oni's.

There will always be people in general (survivor and killer alike) who almost always fail to see the big picture when they get nerfed. Unfortunately, these people tend to be the loudest. Like when people complained about the map reworks. Or the Ruin rework. Or the fast vault rework a long time ago.
For some reason, people feel as they themselves have been attacked when there were clear or potential flaws in a design and that needed to be reworked. Survivors did it with instaheals and BL. Killers with Nurse and Ruin.

I mean, they did show off his video while using addons. . . so can you really get an objective viewpoint on that?
Not to mention how they gutted Legion. That will always bring up warning signs when it comes to 'reworks.'
Then Nurse. Remember, 'slight tweaks.' Now few people even touch her, seeing how unfun she is to play for all but the most skilled.

You cant really tell much by the video since they failed to show the most important part when adding a cooldown...which is the cooldown itself. Depending on how fast the bar drops when the saw isnt in use will determine how much this'll effect things.

The Add Ons were Steering Add-Ons.
And how was Legion gutted? He was a bad Killer to begin with and was reworked into a bad Killer for different reasons.

@Aven_Fallen I'd consider the TR increase, recharge time increase, fatigue increase, and requiring a full meter to be pretty hard nerfs. I can't say from personal experience, I wasn't in the game at that point. Yet I have seen streamers, read up on the, what, three thousand posts about him, and looked at all the changes. Not saying he wasn't bad, again, no personal experience, but on paper, those were pretty substantial changes.

If something gets nerfed it gets nerfed for a reason. It's just a shame in this case it took 4 years for anyone to see reason lol.
I mean every killer special ability in game has some sort of cooldown or other. Why would the chainsaw be any different.

Thing is, Legion is now healthy for the game and IMO Legion is not even that bad. What sucks the most is the fatique. But being at 115% Movement speed is an improvement, because you would not need your power to actually down a Survivor. Before with 110%, this was way different.
And well, aside from cheesing his Power, the whole Feral Frenzy was stupid. Because there was no counterplay for the Survivor, and Legion needed to hit them 4 times (except when using Franks Mixtape). So a Legion can guarantee to get a Down while losing the game, basically.
So I would say, Legion is in a better spot right now than he was at release.
I would also not compare it to Hillbilly, because as OP mentioned, the Changes do not sound that significant. Of course my opinion can easily change when I test it out myself, could be possible that I will say "######### is this Bullshit", but from reading alone, it does not sound too bad.

After the chainsaw overheated the clip lasted for ~3 more seconds and it was about a quarter down so 12-15 seconds i would say.
It does seem to be a significant cooldown if you overheat it
Edit: just realised you meant the cooldown if you don't overheat it. They indeed don't show that in the video

There was a pretty good facebook video that I wish I could link. A guy did a cross map chainsaw on father campbell's chapel, then turned around and did another. Went from 1 corner of the map to the opposite each time. Kinda wondering how things will go for stuff like THAT. Its by far not a misplay on the part of the chainsaw user.

Im not necessarily upset with the changes, i want to see how it actually performs.
What i do find odd though is the devs saying theyre "pretty happy" with where his base kit is, but decided to change it amyway.

A char with unlimited instadowns and Unlimited mapmobility HAD to be nerfed, most people here would not even be affected by the nerf in the first place and are just touting what streamers with 7000+ hours are saying. This nerf hits the top 1% of billys mostly which is completely fine, they don't need to 4k every game.
People need to remember that this isn't a competitive game, if you want to show off play something that actually has a real competitive scene and ranked modes.

I especially love how people complain about freddy's teleport but billy is okay to be even more oppressive because he "requires skill".

Considering the reduced control Billy has, if you're getting downed by cross map chainsaws like that... you need to be more aware of your surroundings. This isnt a power that cant be countered, with even the dev notes saying that there was a reasonable amount of counter-play to it.

My best bet is that they added a anti facecamp mechanic to bubba and they added something simular to Billy while being as minimal a change posible for the rest of his base kit

The fact still remains that he's head over heels over killers like michael with almost no drawback compared to those other killers and there was no way in hell to buff them to billy's level on sheer design without breaking their internal balance. It was always laughable when ppl claimed that billy was for some reason the go to powerlevel with unlimited maptraverse and instadowns.
Yeah sure great survivors were able to play around it, this isn't a competitive game tho and I don't think the devs thought ppl would put 7000+ hours into their game.

I dont see that as a bad thing though. Just means you have to be on guard instead of turning off your brain while holding M1 on a gen. Its like getting crossmap sniped by Huntress. You should stay aware of your surroundings.

The problem is that no other killer in this game can ever come close to this except for nurse who if played by an exceptional player downs you even faster but her design is also broken.

Some people see him as the closest a Killer has ever been to being perfectly balanced.
So practically any change to him, buff or nerf, would've been met with criticism.
Though to me it seems that Carburetor Tuning Guide + Primer Bulb is a combination people generally wouldn't mind seeing nerfed.

The issue isnโt that itโs necessarily unbalanced now, but that the game will never be balanced for other killers while that level of mobility is in the game. They canโt buff all the weaker killers without tuning Billy down, because any universal buff to chases, map size, gen speed, early game slowdown, etc. which those killers are more in need of will just buff him even more and heโs already very good. I think theyโre looking long term with this kind of change, which is why they say that theyโre happy with his current performance but changing his base kit anyway.

Yeah no, he was the only thing broken enough to be able to deal with broken survivors sure but if you wanted to bring every other killer to his level you'd have to powercreep the game to an insane level.

The same people that complained about the Pyramid Head โnerfโ. Or the slight changes to Ghostface. There are always going to be people being very vocal about killers being touched, no matter how small or how much it is needed.

Im upset because of the timing. I still feel like the game needs more balance. Mainly on the survivor side. With all their second chance perks, all the hitboxes and the plan fact survivors just do not fear the killers in general. This is also not mentioning the hot mess called matchmaking. Yet the devs feel this is the best time to nerf billy? Despite all the other problems plaguing the game? It honestly feels like they are making killers punching bags while protecting survivors. Im sure im about to get 3 people at least telling me how thats not true. But thats honestly how i feel.

because he need to use almost 1/3 of charge bar for his each dash.
And the charge come back so slow like a sprint with out add-on.
further more such a slow charge back time are already a faster vision ,if you are not overload the charge would come back even more slower.

Which is why the game needs to change to smaller maps in general but you literally cannot do that with a FREE killer that already is opressive as hell even on the biggest maps.

I agree except.... he can be countered easily by not running in a straight line. Sounds condescending and im sorry but when i play against billy's, i usually run inbetween trees and stuff and turn them to an m1 killer. A lot of maps arent open enough to reliably get chainsaws. Just my opinion. Maybe im just trash as billy.

billy can not charge his saw from 15M away or hide his heartbeat and then one shoot you.

Even mediocre billys will hit you unless you're a spingod and even then it's not a guaranteed escape (and im gonna be honest, 360s shouldn't exist, you ######### up by not being near a loop you take a hit). Mostly staying near windows and eating an M2 is enough but that doesn't change the fact that he still outpaces every other killer right now except for maybe freddy against absolutely optimal loopers who you'd not be able to chainsaw.

But this feeling is just that - a feeling. It isnโt based in reality.
The devs have given killers multiple buffs recently. Smaller maps, fewer pallets, weaker windows, weaker toolboxes, slower co-op gens, insta heals gone, buffs to Trapper/Clown/Plague, Doctor and Freddy reworks which buffed them massively. How can you look at all of these positive changes and honestly think that killers are punching bags?
The matchmaking sucks sometimes, I think everyone can agree with that. But they have a new system in the works so itโs not like this is an issue theyโre ignoring. Theyโve also confirmed that theyโre looking into slowing down the early game and nerfing keys, two of the biggest complaints killers have. Iโm sure they have other things in the pipeline as well that they canโt mention.

No he can just charge his saw in 1 sec while behind your back and then oneshot you, do you really want to go there? argue that myers in ANY capacity is even close to billy's power?

Everything i had ever seen about him was that he was one of the most balanced killers, that his power was useful because of map mobility and yeah, he was plenty avoidable. But now that they are nerfing him I am seeing SO MANY PEOPLE coming out saying they have hated him forever ๐

When Billy was out I prefered to play Wraith and Trapper which by design could NEVER match him.

bro as fellow mainly hillbily that play on both sides and all killers, and i have over 3.5k hours in the game playing rank 1 on both sides, i tell you this, they actually destroyed billy, his true and max power are double engraving with bamboozle, and the risk of using those addons are slower charge which will make you overheat instantly, thats bullshit if you ask me, i destroyed a lot of legacy billies with the highest skill cap just because i master loop as survivor, and i know billy very well, so watching him getting nerfed is very unjustified and it makes me want to puke, hes barely balanced, feels bad for those main billies with 5000addons in their inventory lol. thats why i spend mine, cause any moment, a killer can be nerfed,

the "overheating" mechanic is realistic but it will hurt skilled billys imo.
the only thing what needed a change on billy was Insta-Saw what was broken imo. + the corner hits he gets with the aim-assist + latency

Can Bubba cross the map with his chainsaw in like 5 sec?
Also bubba actually loses distance for a second after starting his chainsaw which by the way there's no reason for.
Billy is just a better bubba in every regard except against potatoes that save right in front of your face when you have a multidown chainsaw.
Bubba is easier to use, that's it.

Original Legion was such a mess and I was one of many players that hated facing them, though I never DC'd.
Just to reiterate your point, they took forever to get kills, they had literally zero counterplay for the survivors unlucky enough to get stuck in a chase with them. It was incredibly unfun and was straight up unfair for survivors to deal with. But at the same time every other survivor just pumped gens because it took Legion ages to down that one person. Their lack of killing power made them, at face value, one of the weakest killers but if Legion chased you, you were going down and there was nothing you could do about it.
Legion is a lot healthier for the game now.
Also Billy changes are going to be fine I think, from reading them and seeing them in the video. Not that many people on here are ever going to accept that even after his changes are released. ๐คทโโ๏ธ
