Blowing Gens After A Hook?
Is it just me, or is this a super common occurrence? I kinda end up doing it, too, myself and I don't really know what it is about another survivor being hooked that makes myself or others miss the skillcheck that occurs either during or directly after hooks.
'n this isn't coming from like a total newbie player, either. I know Rank doesn't count for much but I have crawled my way down to rank 3 and stay between 3 and 4 pretty comfortably, and yet I still have to make a somewhat conscious effort to NOT blow a gen during or directly after a hook.
Did anybody else notice this? Survivors or even killers?
I'm not complaining, I am merely curious.

At least on console, when a killer hooks a survivor the game massively drops frames, which then causes the skill check needle to skip half of the circle, usually resulting in failed skill check. Optimization is a joke in this game.

Yeah, I notice this. If the person gets hooked and screams at the same time as the skill check noise notification, it’s easy to miss. If you’re not totally focused on the match (which you’re less likely to be if your teammate just went down so you know you’re safe), you’re probably going to rely on the sound queue.

I sometimes miss it because the sound from hooking makes the skillcheck sound less noticeable. Or the 'bubble' from the hook is on my skillcheck so I can't see it properly. I also tend to look at the hook to determine my distance so I can decide what to do next, this causes divided attention --> skillcheck is harder.

As others have said the scream covers the skill check sound. And the bubble covers the actual skill check. They say they're random. Yet 9 out of 10 times a hook happens so does a skill check.

Happens all the time. Why I like having Kindred or spine chill on, let's me know if they killer is heading my way after. 😂

This happens to me sometimes because I'm trying to see where the survivor was hooked and end up getting distracted. It's especially bad with Madness skill checks.
