If nobody is doing gens, then you shouldnt do them, too.
Killer can get to the hatch before sacrifice animation is over. It take too long.
If its 5-4 gens to do and your team is quickly dying, farm your team to death and then you can try to get it. If you let a killer to find the hatch , you put yourself at disadvantage. If you find someone trying to do gens, sabotage the progress by failing skillchecks. They are dead anyway.

a swf tried to troll me once, they literally did 0% on the gens, they didn't even try to take off my pig traps. I had to find each one in lockers and I finished faster thanks to devour hope, and they all died. I spent over 20 minutes, wasn't gonna DC and give up giving them that troll victory.
also, it's called taking the game hostage, and is banable.

If there are multiple gens left but only two people, I'll generally stab people and let them go so I have time to wander around and find the hatch. So all you'd be doing against me is killing your gen progress.

I believe OP is saying if your team is getting destroyed early on and there's no hope for making a full comeback (I.E. Doing all gens), don't spawn the hatch in and allow the killer find it. The reasoning behind this is because the killer can sacrifice your last teammate and use the sacrifice animation to reach the hatch before the survivor can 100% of the time.
As the killer, I let survivors spawn the hatch in so that I'm not forced to slug and can instead secure the EGC with said strategy. 😊

I had a game last night where the whole survivor team did literally this.
Was a very long game, and yet they all had 5k points or so, because they all lurked in corners of the map just not doing anything. Was the weirdest thing, thank goodness I was playing Doc.

Its not this. If teammates can stay alive then everything is ok. You have time for generators.

Another great idea: Just don't do anything. If you stay afk, you even get idle-crows which makes the killer find you even faster

That only works if the killer lets you. For example if it's only you and 1 other guy left and I notice the other guy tries to do gens I'll let him and then try to find you. Most of the time if I notice 1 survivor not doing anything at all I'll tunnel the crap out of them because I play survivor too and it's infuriating as hell, the only way you'd not die to that would be to hide all game which by the way is bannable.

9999 times out of 10000 after spine chill lights up and Im gone, killer chase whoever killer find. They very rarely think about failed skillchecks too long. If anything is happening in their mind, its probably- "ha~ha, a noob survivor cant do even skill-checks. This one definitely deserve to be tunneled and camped. Killer stronk, killer smart, me win.".
Guys, if its 2v1 situation and killer think that he is too smart - 99% all 5 gens and pop them 1 by 1 when they are ready. Play it smarter. :^)
