Soooo when are indoor maps being deleted?

BigTimeGamer
BigTimeGamer Member Posts: 1,752

This applies to mostly to Hawkins and Midwich

Who on the design team thought having all of the pallets being unplayable was a good idea?

Who on the design team thought a map when you can hold W around the map and never be caught, or when you are caught, you have no pallets to play with was a good idea?

Who on the design team thought of placing the two staircases on opposite ends of the map as the only means of accessing the second floor (aka the second half of the map)

they cant be the same people who designed the decent maps IE azarovs, mcmillian, etc

Considering 3/4 of the indoor maps are licenced and the other was recently reworked, I'd guess never. Minor changes maybe but I don't see any drastic changes for the indoor maps coming.

As a survivor main, I really enjoy Hawkins. It's my favorite indoor map (unpopular opinion). I definitely agree with you about Midwich and the lack of playable pallets on the maps. There is actually a ramp you can use in one of the rooms to access the 2nd floor on Midwich, but it still doesn't save the map. I love the look of the map tho.

This is how I'd order the indoor maps from fav to least fav. Indoor maps are my least fav. maps overall tho.

    Hawkins

    Meat Factory

    Lery's

    Midwich

There's absolutely nothing wrong with the maps.. and Indoor maps are extremely good for silent killers and Doc. Survivor wise, the only map that is killer sided would be Meat Factory. The rest are completely balanced on both sides.

The only indoor map that actively makes my blood boil is the new one, Hawkins doesn't bother me all that much, and The Game is just boring.

These two are currently the worst maps in this game. Midwich is taking the crown for being the worst designed map ever

Midwich is literally safe pallet city. Hawkins is... well, it's there.

But really, not map reworks until they change Hadden-fair.

You get a team (not even a good one) of SWFs running coms, and one has OoO on midwich, you might as well just DC or stand at the exit gates, because you'll never catch them. I don't think even old Omega nurse could catch them...

tldr: OP can only play on maps filled with un-mindgameable super safe loops.

All the pallets are playable. It's a different strategy than just "mind gaming" on a loop, throwing pallet, and moving onto the next one. You have to constantly run to different tiles.

Honestly, I love Hawkins as a survivor. Its just so simple and easy to stealth. Sure, the pallets suck, but you can usually hear the killers coming from a mile off, and you get 2 free generators. I totally understand why it's so hated, but the only map I have easier stealth on is Dead Dawg, so if they change Hawkins they had better make stealth weaker.

Midwich is the worst map I have ever had the misfortune of playing on. As killer. And as survivor. It is like the Devs deliberately tired to make it as opposite as possible to Father Campbell's Chapel as they possibly could, and succeeded admirably. The sounds are awful, the loops are awful, the generators are awful, stealth is nonexistent, but in the plus side it looks really cool.

I would love to see a rework of all indoor maps. The Game is just as bad imo, every pallet is extremely safe, but one they're gone it's open season. Lery's is awful just because of the strength of the new loops, most of them are essentially god pallets against the taller killers as well.

I don't mind The Game or Lery's, but Hawkins and Middlewich due need reworks.

Hawkins is just endless hallways that look the same. They need to make the rooms look different (like Middlewich).

Middlewich needs more vaults and more diverse gen placement. Also having the exit gates in the same place every time is OP for killers with fast movement.

I actually love the indoor maps with midwich and hawkins being my favorite lol. Hawkins being the ultimate breakout map where you can simply make it impossible to hook anyone if two people are running it to cover eachother. Midwich actually has well placed hiding spots which can help prevent and break chases. You can absolutely play the pallets pretty hard too so I have no idea what you are talking about on Midwich. Hawkins the pallets can be turned into a vault infinite so you can absolutely play them and force breaks.

The game is soooo terrible. I hate it from both Survivor and Killer side.

Hawkins i find enjoyable. Probably cause it doesn't have a lot of windows

The problem in that video is 100% OoO.

That perk has always been a problem. The map is fine.

Hawkins is a rather successful map for me as Killer! Midwich is not as good, but the map doesn't appear much and the sheer complexity of it requires much in the way of learning.

I actually like Midwich, but I agree there seem to be many pallet areas which could do with some reducing. The secrets and details are brilliant. However, in the original Silent Hill game rooms were much neater and far less cluttered. Perhaps removing some of that clutter may make it a more cohesive map?

On midwhich i find that if you close the hatch and just stay in the courtyard you can make it to both gates easily

you cant use pallets the way you normally would on Hawkins.

if you try to play around a single pallet, thats not gonna work. however, if you play around multiple pallets at the same time, you can create an unwinnable loop for the killer that forces them to break down the pallets in order to proceed with the chase. and thanks to the insane pallet numbers on that map, you can expect one to be there for you every 5m.

it requires to use the pallets differently from other maps, but they arent useless.

for Midwich, yeah idk. havent had enough playtime on the map to have a good opinion on it tbh (i heavily dislike it as the killer though, so you are not alone in your Midwich hate, if that helps you xD)

Midwich has some really good pallets and some really good vaults. You just have to learn where they are and pay attention to whether the killer has broken the walls that weaken them. But it’s definitely got some strong areas if you know how to run it.

With Hawkins you can chain stuff together. Most killers won’t bother breaking the pallets because they think they’re unsafe, so if you drop two near each other you can create a bigger loop that the killer wastes time on running around the pallets. Some of the catwalks have good vaults too. Also never run upstairs, it’s basically a dead zone.

Different maps appeal to different people. Some maps are good for killers and some maps are good for survivors. If someone is a main killer, the map will decide how successful they will be. The Dr's lab and Elementary School from Silent Hill are my absolute least favorite. If I'm a survivor, I'm going to love Spirit's Home. If I'm a killer, I'm going to hate that map. If I'm a survivor, I'm going to hate the Meat factory. If I'm a killer, I'm going to love it. The Laboratory and Elementary School should go though.

    Midwhich is the opposite

The doors should be further away cause its impossible to open one if youre the last survivor and killed patrols them

  • anarchy753
    anarchy753 Member Posts: 4,212

In my opinion, you have 2 indoor maps with a guaranteed escape, 1 that's 50/50, and now one that's killer favoured. That's a pretty fair spread. I just wish they were all RNG to be fairer.

  • Haku
    Haku Member Posts: 614

See that is the major problem here if you are talking about Midwich. You enter the room, you throw a pallet and then you run where ? Do you realise majority of the exit are on the same wall ? Basically the killer never has to commit to that pallet he can play around the exit doors which killers do and you have no way out. The design of that map is really tettible. Like the devs forgot some basics of their game. I have also seens rooms with just one exit which means a killer can block you unside let say during endgame and you will die eventually

My top 3 most terrible maps now are Midwich, Hawkins and Shelter woods /all for survivors/.

  • Desh
    Desh Member Posts: 1,118

And if they only play around the exit doors, they waste time on a chase where 3 other Survivors do gens. There's also typically vaults into the next room. I wasn't even referring to Midwich either but Hawkins.

The next room where the vault leads also has the exit at the same side. The killer does not have to follow u there either. He can use the doors and make u vault 3 times to block the vault because u have no other way to exit these rooms but the doors on his side. He is not wasting any time beucase you assume the other 3 have found something. If you havent understand by now gens don't have tracing devices and this map IS HUGE. Gens are really hard to find. Anyway my point was that these pallets re usually unsafe so he can get the survivor pretty easy if he always stay on the side of the doors. It is just such a terrible map with so many killer sided moments.

  • Desh
    Desh Member Posts: 1,118

I'm Rank 1 Surviving, Midwich isn't huge, and the Gens on that map aren't hard to find at all. I'm not saying the design of Midwich isn't bad because there are areas where it can be better, but it's not impossible.

  • MusicNerd_TC
    MusicNerd_TC Member Posts: 3,099

Hmm, maybe Macmillan is balanced, but autohaven is far from balanced. Blood lodge is the third most survivor sided map in the game, it is absolutely stupid how close together all of the pallets are, and how many there are.

I don't mind the Game and Lery's as either killer or survivor. But I hate Hawkins and Midwich as survivor.

I'm biased toward indoor maps as killer because I main Myers. I've always done well with him on them. Plus they are the best maps for scratched mirror build.

  • ObscurityDragon
    ObscurityDragon Member Posts: 710

From the basis its fair yes

But it just sucks when youre a survivor, last man standing, killer finds the hatch, you know you have no chance or trick to use cause the doors are always on the same spot for some maps

But yeah im one of those who lives indoor maps as both killer and survivor, just wish they would fix the luminosity a bit more cause there are places where it feels either too dark or too light lol

Silent Hill looks great, but playing the map is horrendous. The absolute worst.

Hawkins is slightly less abysmal, but is still a pain in the buttocks.

Lerys is a good map...but as good as the update looks...it's a little too dark for my liking.

Gideon is the daddy. Best map.

I don't mind them as killer but I somehow NEVER get them until I decide I want to play Huntress or Nurse.....then I hate them!
