Real confusion about the purpose of gen rush/camping.

As the title says, I'm really confused at to the point of these strategies. Now with the anniversary cakes more then ever, I'm wathcing games with 4-5 cakes in them devolve into a rush or a camp where everyone is coming out with somewhere between 20-40k bloodpoints, instead of the 100-200k that playing the game out would yield.

I just dont understand the mindset, the game activly rewards you for playing the games out and doing more. Is there something I'm missing that makes players decide that 'winning as fast as possible' is more fun or rewarding? Why even play the game at that point?

The more you do in a match the higher your score is going to be, the more points you are going to do. Also the higher rank you are going to get. If you forgoe all the categories just for speed, you are going to lose ranks, instead of gain them. There is no upside beyond just getting games over with faster.

Many people don't care about bp or emblems, they care about winning. And winning in their eyes is either the 4k, or the escape. Rushing gets that escape faster, while camping insures a kill. If a killer camps, he can expect the gens to fly by, or the survivors will become absolute idiots and rush to be slaughtered. He hopes for the second, but even if he gets the first he still will probably wind up with 2 kills. Not bad for the minimum of work.
