The Zodiac Killer
A new killer idea. It's a real life killer based on a true story, but I'm genuine about this killer being introduced. I just love the idea.

I dont get why people think BHVR is gonna ever put a IRL serial killer and profit from it. Thats kinda insensitive.

This guy has it right:
This game is based off the fictional lore of survival horror...not real life tradegy. This would be extremely distasteful from a business standpoint...and although I believe the Devs have made some “questionable” errors with this game, I have to believe that they’re not stupid enough add something like this.

Never ever going to happen.
Real life killers do not belong in a game. If you believe they do you really need to re-evaluate your life.

Leatherface is based on a real serial killer called Ed Gein. For that reason I don't see why they can't create a killer inspired by the Zodiac killer. Lots of films and books are based on real events so why should games be any different.

Yeah getting to close to real life is a bit to on the nose. Also Zodiac used a gun in most of his killings and that doesn't really fit in DBD.
I like that gunslinger's gun is a harpoon and not an actual gun.

I can try to help. Ed Gein murdered 2 people in 1954/1957. The majority of his crimes was defouling graves for skin tissue and bones. Living relatives of the victims did not protest the making of ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’, so I’m sure they were not going to protest a videogame character.
Zodiac killer has murdered 37, in the late 1960s...big difference from FeatherLace’s 2 murders. Acknowledging him in a game mathematically has a 16x more likely to have complaints or issues from the victims’ surviving relatives.
Also, Leatherface is based off the ‘Texas Chainsaw’ franchise killer. A movie, although slighty based on a true story...highly elevated from dramatic effect. Imagine if Devs made his power ripping off survivors’ faces to wear them as a Mori kill.
Distasteful is distasteful. Although you may argue that we base the Zodiac Killer off of the movie version, that movie was NOT an exaggeration of the facts like Texas Chainsaw was.

Uh, not really. Ed Gein inspired a lot of movie killers; certain aspects of Leatherface were inspired by him, but Leatherface is not based on him. The claim the movie made that it was "based on true events" was just marketing.
Anyway, the devs have specifically said they're not going to put real serial killers in the game. Yes, the question has been asked before, and the devs gave a definitive answer.
Now, when they create original characters, they probably look at events and individuals throughout history to get inspiration (The Doctor is inspired by an actual person), so some elements from serial killers may be there, but people have requested blatantly putting real serial killers in the game and that's never going to happen.

My point is that nearly every form of art has taken inspiration for terrible things that have happened in history. Personally I don't see why games would be any different. It doesn't have to be the zodiac killer but it could definitely take inspiration from that killer.

Inspiration, yes. But a book or movie to that ACCURATELY depict such violence is meant as an educational tool, not entertainment. Using ZK as a form of inspiration to make a different killer would be acceptable, but the OP was lobbying for the original vile version...unacceptable.

Extremely distasteful and a way to glorify someone who shouldnt be glorified at all.
Also we already have a Killer similar to zodiac killer and other attention seeking murderers, Ghostface.

No, he’s real serial killer. It just seems so wrong.
