Hello fellow fog runners. I've come to a conclusion that makes me sad.. people just don't get it. Or maybe its ME that doesn't get it.. I'll explain..

I play survivor and killer mostly equally, but prefer killer. I am a huge fan of the original Texas chainsaw massacre for over 20 years so obviously main Leatherface.

After 3 years of playing, I've come to a point where literally 90 percent of my matches I find myself finding a corner to stand in so survivors can get some points so the match feels worthwhile to them.

In response to the hate mssgs I received when the game was new to me, I've learned what not to do (tunnel, camp, plank ppl for no reason, etc.) Playing survivor helped me also as I never do as killer what I hate being done to me as survivor.

This is my point I guess, I can come out of a match with 60-100k on average without actually killing anyone (I run BBQ, discordance, gearhead, and beast of prey.) And I feel good that everyone got a lot of points and had fun. I like playing games w survivors to make it interesting and have got nothing but good feedback from matches in the last couple years..

So question.. am I the only one that gets it? Cuz I'm sick to my stomach with the way killers play/act. It's attrocious the things ppl do "because they can"

Wake up killers, your not only hurting your own score by playing with no concience, keep in mind that NOBODY likes getting 3k points a match. It doesn't make you good friend, and karma will get you.

See you in the fog.

the point of being a killer is to kill them not let them farm and you say you can get out of a match with 60-100k points is that because of 4th ani cakses because in that case i can get around 150k+

  • aylawell
    aylawell Member Posts: 119

No sir, my points come from beast of prey and BBQ, and playing well. Offerings have nothing to do with it. The longer survivors are alive.. the more point opportunities you have as killer.

Well I myself only play killer but know that camping and tunneling aren't fun. So I just play for bp (always BBQ) and try to double hook everybody while providing excitement for the survivors.

I feel that I won when I managed to double hook everybody and then down 1 or 2 for the other to heal so I don't mind them leaving.

But if they take their sweet time and stop going to progress the game, I start killing them and pretty often open the doors so the games come to an end.

You'd literally be disgusted at how many points I'm getting with everyone popping gateaus.

Currently I play much nicer as killer (and survivor) when we have 4-5 cake offerings in a game. Normally I don't care too much about my opponents, but I already have a really fair play style. Usually nobody complains in the after game chat.

It's like a comraderie thing I feel for good players.. that's what I'm really asking about I guess, not the points or camping etc... But the players that can recognize what's going on without any communication.. not quite sure how to find the right words.

I play kind of like how you play. I usually try and then let survivors heal and do a gen or 2 then end all of them and give last the hatch. I understand from a survivor perspective its not fun getting tunneled and getting 4k blood points a match.

  • metalklok
    metalklok Member Posts: 632

lets say you get a perfect game and get 32000 plus the bbq stacks thats 64000 then the beast of prey points which is 4000 that adds up to 68000 points. Im not positve because i haven't played in a while but im pretty sure you need to kill people to get the 32000 because of the sacrifice points

  • csandman1977
    csandman1977 Member Posts: 2,358

Well i usually give last alive hatch or door. I never camp even to secure a kill at end game. Only tunnel OoO (purposely. Sometimes things get hectic). If i do come across someone recently unhooked and i down them i leave them.

And yet, most survivors dont appreciate it. Had a huntress game where i had 3 hooks before first gen was done. Then had 3 people on floor again before 1st gen popped. Went to other side of map and let them all heal. Let 2 gens pop before going after anyone again. Last person got hatch after zero more gens completed. Actually sent me a ggez. I ignored it but really?

Moral of the story, i extend chases some if it looks like im outmatching the survivors, but when they are downed they get hooked.

  • burt0r
    burt0r Member Posts: 4,163

Yeah I play like I said in my post above but still is see up to 12 of 16 perks are meta/second chances. They get used more or less skillful and I don't really care as long as I get my 4 stacks.

And yes OoO gets focused first or rather ignored until all others are on death hook. When they are too coordinated I get rid of the OoO, but normally the obsession serves as the distraction so I ignore it.

  • aylawell
    aylawell Member Posts: 119

I should also say that pulling 100k requires me to have some sort of point offering on top of the perks I run with an excellent match. 60-80k on average is more accurate. But that can be something as simple as a yellow hunting or brutality.. it's really not hard.

Ideally I'd like to go for a 12 hook game, but gens don't allow for that. You can try to be fair so everyone gets a good amount of game time but then in the post game chat, they like to act like they're tough ######### because all 4 escape when you're playing nice and going for max hooks. Alternating hooks between the same 2 people is a good way to win and also avoid "tunneling".

  • Vox_Nocturne
    Vox_Nocturne Member Posts: 545

I play within my own preferences, so I do act aggressively. However, if someone has just been unhooked the most I do to that survivor is down them again. I won't rehook them though. I always chase the unhooker, unless it's down to 1-2 gens, in which case I believe that's a fair time to sacrifice them - but again I won't tunnel.

I do play with a sense of humour. Recently I was chasing a very skilled Nea, and after we got to a jungle gym we stared at each other, I went to a nearby crown podium and took it, then pretended to be out of breath. She said she found it funny in post-game chat.

It's important to me to play in a style that everyone can enjoy. At the same time, I find it dull when playing as a survivor and it's just constant farming. I want to play a threatening killer in-game, not a buddy to survivors. So I play as well as I can within those confines.

  • xEa
    xEa Member Posts: 4,105

I just want fair and fun games, on both sides. I try my best to completly avoid tunneling and i never camp, no matter what happens in the game. But i give my best as killer and survivor to have a challanging experience.

Love making the game fun. My only job isn't kills I want to make you believe,or your squad believe that you may die here. That's the best part of playing killer. Even when the gens are done your still worried and on the fence. That's the best part of the game tbh and same for the survivor side. Saying this game is over.

    FrootLoops Member Posts: 376

I've only recently started spending some real time as killer, but I find that I have the most fun by playing a normal match at the start, get my 4 stacks of bbq quickly, then rotate through hooking everyone one more time. after that I will down, pick up, and carry them toward the farthest hook I can find, walking through every pallet on the way and stopping for flashlight crossings. I prioritize kicking gens, breaking pallets, and using my power (unless I'm playing doc, because by 8 hooks I've already maxed out devious and that madness just makes the game drag on longer). Just knowing that these survivors have no idea if I'm going to kill them or let them go and seeing everyone at 20k+ bp in the tally screen hits me in the feels. I even had a match where 2 survivors got 32k bp

of course I'm rank 13, so this play style is pretty easy to maintain for now. I'm sure as I rank up I will get tilted by sweaty SWF teams and start going with the first hook mori strat

  • LordGlint
    LordGlint Member Posts: 8,692

BBQ and WGLF are the only perks in the game that allows you to pass the 32k BP limit. Perks like beast of prey or distressing only act to help reach the 8k BP limit for that particular category faster. If you play a perfect game and get 32k BPs, BBQ or WGLF will turn that into 64k BPs and no perks you run after that can possibly make it any higher.

Yeah if I'm destroying a team with GF I have fun with them. Play peek-a-boo around corners, trees, buildings, and gens, and then just run away in the other direction completely mind ######### them.. Lmao. I just wish the favor got returned when I go up against rank 1 SWFs squad that totally annihilate my rank 12 ass...

It's not "the point" of "killing them all" or "escaping" it's something deeper that I've found with other veterans of this game. It's a feeling... A knowing. It's unexplainable. Those that know will understand.

We just wanna have fun despite all the bs that we know we can abuse? "Guys, guys, i know this bs window is in the game, i could tunnel you to death for an easy win or DS jump in a locker, but lets just play clean and enjoy without salting each other, ok"? Mutual-agreement-until-its-broken kind of thing?

dont get me wrong but against good survivors you HAVE NO TIME to perform 12 chases so you are gonna lose every single time if they are good, so you can play as you want but dont expect to stand a chance against good survivors without playing scummy and the word scummy is stupid, i would say tactically survivors dont care about you when they pop 3 gens in 3 minutes OR LESS so, why would you care about them if they always play like if they were on a rush? like to stand a new world record time? you as killer are allowed to play like if u were on a Rush aswell, survivors never cared about you, you should never care about them, if i feel in the mood i may give the last person hatch if i noticed they were bad or let the hatch to a baby survivor because i dont know i felt like doing it but you are the killer and you are supposed to kill them there are no rules.

I've been doing the same throughout this event, especially if they burn the cakes. I'll 2 hook everyone and let them work on the gens so they escape. Win win for everyone.

It's good that you see both sides of things, but not all Survivors are gonna be thankful for your kindness. I've had Survivors be very sweet for letting them escape, but I've also had others message me in a group chat with their SWF and they'll bombard me about why I only let one of them go and that I was a scummy piece of s***.

I don't even worry about hatemail anymore. I play how I like, but I never play scummy unless I truly feel like the Survivors are being cocky and arrogant.

If you feel that you played fairly and still came out on top, then good for you! If you had to do a few things you wouldn't normally want to do to get the 4K, then I've been there, too. All in all, however, the game is in your hands. YOU'RE the Killer.

  • Nutty_Professor
    Nutty_Professor Member Posts: 621

I use to play like you. When I first started playing killer I was a survivor main, so my goal was to just two hook everyone and let everyone escape at the end. I tried to make the game as enjoyable for the killers.

Whilst it help me to be able to manage the game whilst still having four survivors still alive, I was unable to continue to play like this when I first got to rank 1 (I was using level 1 killers at the time).

However, I still try my best to play as fair as possible, to the point I'll even go out of my way to avoid tunneling and camping. Although, I no longer do this for the survivors benefit, the reason I still play fair is due to me finding it more fun to play this way.

I've been a rank 1 killer for nearly two years, so I've been having to deal with survivors terrible behaviour for quite some time. Getting toxic messages post game despite going out my way to play fair is incredibly draining. So whilst I play fair, I no longer care about whether the survivors got enough points or not.

  • KingFrost
    KingFrost Member Posts: 3,014

I play fairly nice. I won't kill someone too soon, even though sometimes I probably should -- IF there's extra bloodpoints involved. On the other hand, on my honor as a Pig main if you boop the snoot after I've hung you and had an otherwise good game, you will be free to go.

I know what you mean, it sickens me when people treat other players in the match like AI and focus only on their own benefit and enjoyment. That's why as a survivor main, when I see other survivors playing without a conscience by popping gens left and right when the killer is sitting with hardly any or no hooks I like to play chill survivor by dropping palettes across the map and failing skillchecks on gens being worked on to help them get the 4k.

It feels way better to know I did something nice for someone rather than being a sweaty for the win :)

  • aylawell
    aylawell Member Posts: 119

Never did the exact math but I've seen the end numbers often enough, unless I run into an in game team of good players.. those numbers are accurate with no kills.

  • aylawell
    aylawell Member Posts: 119

Agreed, when I back off I'll go somewhere out of sight and give them a break.. if I get run by a good survivor and they stun me or consistently dodge my attacks.. I'll let them know they've bested me in good humor by circle sawing in true Leatherface form lol.. maybe w a pallet chop at the end or whatever... But I know they know I respect they're skill in that moment.. it's the survivors that stay to watch and recognize what's happening on a baser level.. even stopping and looking at each other over a loop.. things like that.. in that moment. You both remember exactly why you keep playing Dbd.

  • Mozzie
    Mozzie Member Posts: 618

I don't understand what is it that you do. You stand in the corner of the map for the duration of the match? Or do you mean if you steamroll survivors too hard you take yourself away from generators so they can get points? If it's the latter I do that too. I do want to point out a perfect game is 32k so with BBQ the highest points you can get while playing a regular blood point offering is somewhere around 64-66k With the event full of 100%offerings you can get up to 200k bp's.

  • cheetocultleader
    cheetocultleader Member Posts: 1,260

Put it this way, if every killer did what you do, I'd be bored. As it stands though, most try very hard to win (myself included when I play killer), so once in a while it's alright.

I don't even have that much time invested into killer in comparison to survivor, but I've not yet had a survivor care about my point accumulation, nor have I really cared about a killer's in retrospect. So if I give hatch sometimes, to me that's being super nice. Same if I let a killer smack me at end game collapse in front of a gate.

You don’t have to play cheesy, and you CERTAINLY don’t have to farm. You can win a game without the tunneling/camping/slugging...in fact, it’ll counter some of the opponents’ loadouts this way. You said yourself you don’t want to play this way...so don’t.

You can get way more BP winning, and if playing “fairly”, the survivors won’t have anything to complain about either (excluding the 2% of people that are just upset they lost, you’ll always have those).

Everyone’s happy, let’s stop the boring farming please!

  • IMhereRUN
    IMhereRUN Member Posts: 606

The game is a 4v1. If you find yourself “wanting a specific survivor”, you already defeated yourself. You need all 4. Know when to chase and when to not. If you commit to a chase too long without winning, sure it sucks...but let them go. Plenty of tricks about this online to avoid being frustrated and not having fun as you mentioned.

Thanks for all the responses, I feel I was too vague maybe and couldn't convey quite what I was trying to, but it's all good. As long as I can still find a match I'll be here with the rest of you. Next time a t3 Leatherface hits you in the first 15 seconds of the game, revs the saw, and turns away to kick the gen you just started before running off to the next gen ignoring you.. it may just be me XD

Long live Dbd and those who love it!

  • aylawell
    aylawell Member Posts: 119

Unless it's a team of red ranks I've been playing long enough to know what ppl are doing without my perks lol. It's become easy for me. I know without a doubt that I am in control of the match before it starts. Normally I'll have like 3 hurt before a gen pops.. if I find I've hooked like 2 and no gens are done cuz they're scrambling around trying to save/ heal.. I'll back off. If someone quits ( which is the the worst thing a survivor can do imo cuz they're selfish childishness just screwed 3 other ppl) I'll hook everyone twice, kick gens blah blah, but let them go. I'm in no way a sorry, if it's a good match and the survivors are skilled then game on, it's murder time lol.. it's just I rarely find a challenge anymore so I challenge myself in odd ways.

  • Reaver_Raziel
    Reaver_Raziel Member Posts: 400

You can at most get 64k without offerings. Try again troll. And saying "Wow you guys arent just letting the survivors farm to get a lot of points". Its a competition between 2 teams. One team tries to fufill their objective(Escaping, surviving and doing gens) the other tries their objective(Stopping the survivors from completing their objectives, usually by killing them). Thats the game in short, and how you go about playing the game is up to you , but those are the objectives. If you personally wanna ruin games for survivors that actually wanna play and not just farm. Then you go ahead and play your game. You are allowed to play like you want, despite it being really annoying for a lot of people.

And yes I deliberately spelled it out like that for you. At least with camping, the games are over fast for that guy and something did happen in the game instead of trying to kill people with boredom.

  • aylawell
    aylawell Member Posts: 119

Wow, another person who missed the point. Ok about bps.. I said 60-80k did I not? Yeah 64 falls in that range.. and I'm not farming them, or letting them farm me lol.. I'm trying to let everyone feel they had a worthwhile game and get point.. as for troll... Yeah I don't even know what to say to that dude. XD

Lmao,.. so true. I love when I get tea bagged cuz they think they're really good when in actuality I could have sent them back to the campfire without even the change to buy a grey offering 🤣

  • pseudechis
    pseudechis Member Posts: 3,904

I don't think you have to be overly nice or malicious you just have to play the game. This is why BBQ is my number one perk. It means even if I'm at the mercy of terrible matchmaking I still walk away from a match with decent blood points if I hook everyone at least once.

Generally that makes me not tunnel or camp, buuuuut... if its the egc and I hook someone in the basement I might hang around a lil to get that kill because that is my objective. If I find no one but you after an unhook you may go back on the hook if I get ya. Its just part of the game. The same way if you are really good at looping you will probably run me for a gen at least and are right to do so. If I have no other targets you may get lucky and I'll fixate and you'll get 2 to 3 gens. It's just how the game is.

  • aylawell

I'm sorry everyone.. I feel my main point has been eclipsed and lost. Let me simplify what I'm attempting to get at...

After playing for so long I recognize this unspoken thing that happens sometimes.. like a sudden rivalry in good spirits when two players with experience come together in this game and the normal everyday Chase becomes something else.. like a recognition of skill and respect that I feel only players that have invested long hours can recognize in game.. no matter how hard I try I can't properly explain it but I know that this feeling CANT just be happening to me.

I realize it probably sounds crazy. And it's rare that it happens.. but it's there.
