We have temporarily disabled Baermar Uraz's Ugly Sweater Cosmetic (all queues) due to issues affecting gameplay.

Will there be a dead by daylight 2?

I ask because, I know small tweaks are made to the game, but this causes more bugs.

Say they want to be radical and add whole new objectives for survivors then surely it would be better to create a new game from scratch free from bugs. I mean altering current game too much would just create more issues I feel.

They already have licenses in place to have killers back in, so what are your thoughts?

the devs said they'd be supporting dbd for as long as people want to play so i doubt it. were they to radically change objectives i feel like theyd take a lot of time on it and probably rework the base code of the game to make it less spaghetti.

Yes, but instead of 4 survivors and 1 killer, it'll be 8 survivors and the Entity's lawyer who writes strongly worded letters to them to stop tampering with the generators that are not their property.

Number of generators and completion time will remain unchanged.

Sequels to profitable franchises are always inevitable, but considering that the developers are pouring a lot of assets into redesigning the look of the maps, suggests that if there ever is a sequel, it won't be happening anytime soon.

would be nice redoing this gmae from the bottom if we are lucky they would get rid of most bugs. would be nice then transfer the data to DBD 2 so we all get our purchases.

Yeah, I really don't want to see a sequel to this game simply because of how much content is here after only 4 years of development and how much progression I and basically everyone else has put in. If they did something like Overwatch 2, slap on a fancy shmancy content pack with extra game modes and perhaps a single-player type experience, I'd be perfectly fine and actually really stoked. Uprooting everything we have now just for the sake of "the game is old, we need to start over and sell it from scratch to prove we still know how to make games!" is an awful, awful idea.

I'm not sure why making DBD 2 would get rid of the bugs. I think DBD has gotten better and better over time and I'd honestly just prefer they continue to improve the experience in this game.

I don’t think so. I think they wanna keep this one alive for as long as they can. And if they made a second one wouldn’t they need to do all that work to get the licenses again?

If they made a dbd 2 it'd be nothing but a cash grab. Kinda like overwatch 2🤮

Why make a sequel when they can just keep working on this one and avoid paying more for all the licensed content?

Thanks for all your comments. My main thought is (especially for survivor) that after all these years some big changes to objectives is needed, but big changes would mean big changes in code and thus higher chance of more game breaking bugs.

I mean if start a new dbd2 game then can make a game with all new objectives and then realise it without the bugs. Also in terms of licenses, they already own them, so could add them into new game easily but then alter gameplay style as see fit.

As I said especially for survivor but 4 years of just doing gens as objective can be tiresome so something radically different where devs can start from scratch and make exciting game modes and objectives would be cool

I imagine acquiring every license again would be hell and if they were to leave a single license out the endless outcry for that license to return would be worse than the current trolls who comment the same "add X character" on every post already.

No. All the licenced elements would likely have to be renegotiated for example.

I would much rather they just continue to update and upgrade this game.

That's why you haven't seen Minecraft 2. The original is so good...why make a whole new game when you can just continually add to a proven winner?

But if you wanted a big change to objectives and new gameplay, hard to do to the current game and dread to think how many more bugs it would create. Cannot see new game happening but ready for some changes to objectives and gameplay style to freshen things up

    Easy: new game modes.

That way we keep all our characters and cosmetics.
