.....Why?
I am very new to this game. Have been playing since end of Feb. beginning of March. Needed something new to keep me busy inside during the pandemic. My friend new I looooved horror. So updated my computer graphics card JUST to play the game. BUT back to topic. All I have been seeing in groups that I have joined via FB, forums, comments on lives are (I do not think the correct term is selfish. But we will use it for now) I have been reading Killers bickering/venting/complaining about Survivors. “LOOPER!” “Flashlights are toxic!” (If flashlights were “toxic” it wouldn’t be in the game) Then I see Survivors bickering/venting/complaining about the Killer “He/She’s TUNNELING!” “CAMPER!” Really? NEWS FLASH! You do NOT have to play the game if it THAT bad. It is a mini horror game! Where the Killer is SUPPOSED to KILL emphasis on "KILL" and the name "KILLER."
Where the Survivor is supposed to what?.....YOU guessed it SURVIVE!!!!! The creators tell you at the beginning of the game in the tutorials. (If you did not DO the tutorials because "I know what I'm doing RAWR" then that is on you and you have NO room to open your mouth and whine/complain about it.)
The game has been out for four years and after ALLLLL that time I am seeing ALL that shite over and over and over again. Pointing fingers "He did this" "She did this".....really? It's a game. Not to mention the way I've seen some talk to others at the end of matches (I play via PC) when in the END everyone is just playing the game, doing THEIR objective, trying to earn blood points to earn PERKS. What EVERYONE is trying to DO! Good Golly Miss Molly.....We all enjoy the game. So, don't you think we should take it with a grain of salt and move on? Gain the blood points? Level up? Get into another Trial and TRY again. Not like we have to earn lives, go to the last checkpoint.
Because not ALL trials are going to be the same. Not all Survivors play the same, not all Killers play the same. (Don't forget real people ACTUALLY play the people on the screen in front of you! They're not bots (at least to my knowledge) You CANNOT win them all. I know I haven't and I wouldn't have it ANY other way.

Don't worry it's been like this the entire four years this game has been out. I think a lot of toxicity stems from the natural divide between killers and survivors, and the lack of empathy that many people today simply do not have. Some people only play one side of this game and it shows.
Play both sides people. You will become a better, more understanding gamer.

I mean, you said yourself you haven't played for long. Keep playing, and try both sides, and you'll start to realize why people complain. Like for example, the whole "flashlights are toxic" thing. Flashlights existing in itself isn't toxic, but people will do things to purposely try to annoy other players, which is where the term "toxic" starts coming in. At least that's what I'm imagining people are talking about. One example of that is people binding their flashlight to mouse well and using it almost solely to just make rapid clicking noises.
I don't get bothered by a lot of that stuff, but... I just take issue with the fact that you say "if it's toxic then why is it in the game," because there's plenty of things in games that aren't inherently toxic but can be used in such a way.

Sometimes things make the game less fun for people, so they complain about keys/moris/camping/blendettes/etc. Honestly this game is far from the worst I've seen when it comes to that sort of thing.

Every time I "try" to speak with it it's like I'm "attacking" (Trust me If I wanted to attack you I freaking would) I've never been into online gaming till DbD. It takes me FOREVER to get into a game and I fell in LOVE with this game and I'm semi mad I didn't get into this stuff sooner (better now than never though.) Oh I do play both sides! That's why I'm so confused/baffled because neutral ground....we all play the game, we all have objectives. Quit taking it personal and have a twig up the bum. I heard the words "tunneling" "Camping" as toxic and I'm thinking....how? Killer is doing their job....Killer = killing. When hunting/chasing four survivors you want to go after the weakest link and get rid of them first. (Sure obviously give them time to make it last longer) Camping (Meh, I found it ironic per horror movies always going camping in the woods and what not)
Just in the end GLAD others understand. 😂

"Clicky" yeah the noise is annoying As heck. (I do play both sides I've spent sooo many hours on this game alll ready) But as you I pay no mind, each trial is different. It takes a LOT to bother me. But the "toxic" part I love and understand more of that explanation. I never thought that as the proper word. Thank you.

It just sucks seeing/hearing almost everyone complain about it. Because in the end if you don't like it. You don't have to play. Personally it's part of the game I think it's awesome. I remember playing Huntress for the first time and I ran around for ten minutes trying to find Claudette few hours later I learned she is also known as a Blendette....I laughed so hard because it explained SO much! (She was the last survivor)

Oh nooooo Not at all. Love this game way too much. Got all the DLC's and everything within the first few months. Cosmetics galore. Can't get enough. It's helped with working from home and staying inside. It's been a little anchor.

Yea, I think Ive played for about 2 years before I went to the forums to see if there were tips for me and, GOOD LORD I was not expecting what I found.
Normly I'd get hit with that DS, and just be like damn it. Then go right back to what I was doing.
Or I'd finish the least Gen to see another survivor get taken out with one hit and was like damn, should got that last totem I saw.
I never really put any thought into whether a y of these things were too powerful or otherwise. When I'm given a set of cards to play, I just play them, knowing what other cards are available to the other side and leave it at that.
Now when I think someone has borrowed time or DS, I go after the unhooker. Other guy prolly has to try to heal anyways lol.
I have what all the guys in my shop call an "ungodly amount of patience" maybe that helps. Most things don't bother me cause I usually expect the worst and I'm not surprised or caught off guard, allows me to do better I think at least.

You're one of those!!!!! I do not have that patience as a survivor role to "hide" and "sneak" (As a killer it impresses me when I cannot find you!) I run everywhere and that's what gets me caught and hooked (and probably all the name calling, like just now called trash by a total stranger and telling me I'm mad and shiz.) Ummmm no, just rude first words out of your mouth is "Ya'll trash." But yesterday I opened exit gates other survivor hooked I unhooked them they escaped I did not. (Totally was okay with it because well, that's the game!) I haven't asked for tips and tricks, I just like to see the fun and news people post. I've seen a lot of "OMG killer is overpowering." and it makes my eye twitch. It's a level playing field (at least to me) you just gotta know how to go with it and what to do with it.

What wisdom said.
Some people feel the urge to turn everything into an unhealthy competition, turn everything into a means to 'show' others they are the biggest, best, most awesome whatever, and they get cranky when someone comes along not behaving in a way beneficial to them.
As for a more in-universe approach, technically speaking killers are supposed to 'play' with their prey to get the survivors' hope up...

EXACTLY with the unhealthy competition. When I play survivor. Do I get a lil butthurt when the game is not even five minutes? (2 pump and done I called it one time) Yes....."Play with your Food" I believe that's Michaels Perk. I enjoy making it last when I play killer, I dont enjoy the time wasted, the add on's or the offerings.

I get the cycle where same hook, same gen etc. But you don't know what killer, what map who or what pattern. And yeah I might not be playing long and I get that it might be the "Honeymoon phase" if you will. But Nothing to feel bad for me about. I can say I've gotten a hell of a lot better than when I've first started to make each trial a different outcome. 😊

That's understandable, I can see that it will get irritating. But I won't let it effect others within the community because in the end it is "Just a Game." "Offense vs Defense" "Mini Horror Game." "Good Vs. Evil." 😊

I mean try getting to red rank and being in the community for a longer time before you voice any controversial opinions according to the community lol. Before you just say something randomly to a community you're new to try thinking more about why people may feel the way they do about the game lol. But yeah being killer against an all red rank swf team with flashlights and toolboxes getting sabo and flashlight saves while locker exit spamming, tea bagging, flashlight clicking? I mean have you never looked up toxic survivor videos on YouTube? Lol if you haven't plz go check them out

I think you are quite funny. I’ve seen it happen to others. I’ve had it happen to me as a killer. I’ve been a random survivor with others who do SWF and watched them do it to another Killer. Don’t think I don’t do my homework when hearing these terms as I came into play. And as for my “controversial opinions” is this not a general discussion forum? Not looking to “poke the bear” if you will. Looking to discuss and understand.
