Springtrap

So what's the deal with this springtrap drama? So apparently we know that the next two chapters are gonna be licenced because game files and what not.

Personally I would love to see five nights at freddys because I was a huge fan back then. Also, if they got this licence it would bring even more people than stranger things because fnaf was huge and also theres a big chance that Markiplier would play the game and I think that it is in BHVRs best interest to get such huge youtuber to play their game.

I'm a huge fan too since the 11 years, I'm replaying them again even the fanmade and I'm having so much fun shitting on my pants, but it's obvious none of the fnaf characters could fit, I even think marionette could be better than springtrap, but not even scott wold be interested on implementing his license to dbd.

I’m 23 and I am against Fnaf joining, wouldn’t fit. If they do join, well maybe till later because there are way more important licenses to add before fnaf

The fandom is the zoomer version of bronies, inserting themselves into every little thing and trying to be funny with LOLRANDOMXD mashup memes

The characters themselves have an aesthetic that horribly clashes with the drab, depressing tone of DBD and its current roster

They wont come up with three licenced chapters in a row.

also, tbh, a fnaf map would be... pretty dull. It'd be another indoor map, and not even be that special in design.

Lmfao, "I think it sucks" is not an good reason.

    Killer: Springtrap

    Ability: unseen / unheard

when not in sight of survivors Springtrap has no terror radius. Simply having him in a survivors line of sight will give him a massive terror radius.

    Passive: Where you belong

5 automaton suits are scattered through the stage and act as hooks/ PH cages. Missing too many skill checks on stage 2 or entering stage 3 the spring traps fail and kill the survivor.

That was literally off the top of my head. Imagine what a team could do.

As for him not fitting into DBD, he is a zombified serial killer tapped in a decrepit spring lock suit with organs and bodily fluids visible.

I'm not a fan of the games, I just looked up who Springtrap was and a synopses of the games. I'm all on board, it sounds cool. It seems like alot of blind hatred from those who are opposed.

The whole FNAF sucks thing is subjective, so theres literally no point in bringing that up. And different forms, vents, other animatronics, sound misdirection, etc. If they could make Billy and Bubba play differently, they could make springtrap different.

Lmfao. Most posts I see are from people complaining about the possible addition of FNAF or people asking what the hate is about. If you are tired of hearing about it stop complaining and it goes away.

Technically, Bubba was only a paragraph, not a full chapter.

Also, Freddy is the perfect example of why people shouldn't be so quick to wish for licensed characters.

We've had two different versions of Freddy and they are both are both absolutely rancid. He just doesn't fit into the game.

    Neither does this goofy-ass robot.

  • SCP_FOR_DBD
    SCP_FOR_DBD Member Posts: 2,416

Thats still three licensed killers in a row. And almost all of the complaints I have seen about freddy has been how powerful he is, thats a sign hes not properly balanced, not that he doesn't fit. And funnily enough, despite all the counter arguments raised against it, you still claim sprintrap wouldn't fit, and is "goofy". So tell me, how is is a torn up robot with the decaying corpse of a child murderer in it "goofy?"

Springtrap looks like #########, I don't want it. KTHXBYE

What a compelling argument. Do you even know what he looks like?

  • hahadrillgobrrr
    hahadrillgobrrr Member Posts: 953

I know. How else I could say he looks like #########? And if something looks like ######### to me, I think it is enough of reason not wanting it in DBD.

I already told you twice. I'm not going to repeat myself. And just FYI, people like you are the reason these threads get so much hate. Just let people like/hate whatever they want to like/hate.

Explain how he is "goofy". An elephant suit cosmetic is goofy so why are you not crying about that?

  • catbeans
    catbeans Member Posts: 316

You never said ######### moron. You just said he looks like ######### yet to seem to not be able to explain what he looks like. Typical. Also I'm not a fan of the games, I literally had to do a little research for this thread (imagine that) before spouting some ignorant #########. I reccomend you do the same.

Though you are partially right, you go wrong when you say that they don't have experience with FNAF characters. The reality is, we find them to be comically bad, not horror. It is sort of the Chucky concept. Those movies are more comedy than horror. I'd hate to see a stupid doll that I could punt through the uprights as a killer in this game. Most of us want a real horror character. It's why Legion is mocked so badly. Legion is a group of angsty teens with a knife. Jeff could probably beat the crap out of all three, or make them look for a safe space by saying something offensive.

FNAF is entertaining, to a point, but not horror to many of the old-school horror fans. If they introduced Springtrap to the game, he would likely be a low selling chapter. Honestly, I'd have zero interest unless his perks were great, then I might go for the perks and sit him on the shelf.

Many of us want a true horror feel to the game. That is why you see those who ask for a Salem-witch character or something truly dark and supernatural.

As for "old guys", not sure 45 is old yet, but most of us have been involved in the horror genre for decades and know what we want/like.

Caveat: I don't pretend to speak for every Gen-X'er out there on the horror genre, just the ones I've known for decades who love the genre.

Yet you see so many people wanting Jason. I grew up with the Friday The 13th movies but that ######### is comical now and not scary in the slightest. I looked into the FNAF game lore, I cant be bothered to play a jump scare fest. And the story itself is fairly interesting and Springtrap as a character fits in DBD. Personally I couldn't give a ######### if he gets added but I fail to understand the blind hatred people have for it.

Also you talk about old horror. So what are your thoughts on Stranger Things? A Horror lite show that keeps it PG.

  • Pryzm
    Pryzm Member Posts: 393

Stranger Things is very old-school. I think it is mostly done well. It is solid in my opinion. A tad bit of comedy, but the monsters are no joke. There is nothing to joke about when it comes to the Demogorgon and how it is portrayed in the franchise. If you see that thing, it is all business.

Please don't misunderstand me on the horror genre. I don't think many old school horror fans shun the "new stuff" simply because it is new. Plenty of the old stuff went to the doghouse years ago and there is lots of good stuff being put out. Freddy and Jason went into the joke realm decades ago, but the original movies were great for their time. There are lots of new things out there that are good. I'm not even saying that FNAF is bad, it is just not something I think many of us find as horror. Entertaining, sure, but horror...not really.

As for the comment someone made about the "elephant suit" on the clown, well, that is what it is. The Clown's original concept was pretty old school concept of a killer clown. The elephant suit, I'm not sure where that even came from, but it is now just a joke.

Many of the killers in DbD are fantastic in their lore/concept. Billy, Trapper, Nurse, Doc, Huntress, and even Deathslinger are characters you don't want to run into in the dark of night or the remote wilderness. Legion....I'll thank them for the knife and scare them off with harsh words. lol Hit or miss...it is what it is.

  • catbeans
    catbeans Member Posts: 316

Alright, you say FNAF is bad. I did not play the games because the games are not for me. But I would not say they are bad or should not be included in DBD because of it. You used so many words but still failed to explain exactly why FNAF should not be added. As for finding things scary, I dont find anything in DBD scary so if we are going by that metric I have some bad news for ya.

  • bubbabrotha
    bubbabrotha Member Posts: 1,138

Agree, I want it but people need to stop talking about it.

  • catbeans
    catbeans Member Posts: 316

You still did not say why FNAF should not be added.

Not scary enough? Don't fool yourself nothing in DBD is remotely scary.

    The games are bad?

Sure, I dont like the games either. But that does not make them bad or not fitting for DBD.

It seems like there is some bias behind this notion because I have yet to see any type of legitimate reason.

  • Pryzm
    Pryzm Member Posts: 393

The entire FNAF series is very childish and campy. It is meant more as a niche concept, not really horror. That is what I hear the most from those who don't like it, and I personally agree with it. I'm not a fan, but I understand why some like it. Again, not trying to insult those who like it, it is just a niche thing is all.

As far as DbD being scary, it loses the fear factor pretty early, but that is more due to the gameplay than anything else.

  • catbeans
    catbeans Member Posts: 316

People who never bothered to learn anything about the games say that. I looked into the story and that ######### is morbid. Springtraps design is also fairly creepy.

  • LazyPayday
    LazyPayday Member Posts: 420

The elephant suit was added because of the community contest where people gave the devs their own cosmetics concepts and the elephant suit was the one that won.

While I think it's fine for people to be completely against Springtrap being added into the game, I have to debate with people who aren't just talking with their emotions and try to give a genuine reason as to why they'd be a bad addition to the game.

You say that while stranger things has comedy, things have to get serious with the appearance of demogorgon. My problem with that is that it implies you wouldn't and that's completely false. I used to love fnaf when it was popular so I'll explain the origins behind springtrap (sorry if you already know but I feel that if you're trying to say Springtrap is a complete joke, then you don't know).

Springtrap was a child murderer who then stuffed the corpses of children in animatronic suits in order to find out how possession works in order to obtain immortality (I think, it's been so long so someone correct me if I'm wrong), however it backfired because he was then hunted down by the spirits of those he killed, resulting in him hiding in a springlock suit (which is basically an animatronic suit that could have all the machinery moved so that someone could use it as a normal costume, however due to a malfunction all the machinery snapped back into place, resulting in him because being pierced in crushed while inside, causing an extremely painful death. Then he possessed the suit while his decaying corpse while still inside yada yada no need to know more. Pretty dark right? So I don't get how people could feel like he's too goofy or that he shouldn't be taken seriously? The only thing I can see having trouble with is how could they make it look natural for a rusty old animatroinic suit to be running at 115% or 110% movement speed.

My son started playing the games and I was following it with him. I found nothing creepy about it, just silly. Differing opinions based on experiences and likes. No biggie.

@LazyPayday As you can see, I know who Springtrap is and I am familiar with FNAF based on the time my son and I tried it. I found it silly, campy, and anything but creepy - except in the way you might find a person who like to sniff people's hair creepy.

I am not forming an empty opinion, it is just my opinion based on experiences and likes. Nothing more.

Not trying to dog on your opinion but have you played the VR game? Cause that was honestly the most scared I've ever been by a game.

Springtrap is apparently only in the 3rd game. And I never said the games were creepy. The story is, much of which is hidden. The games are boring, I wish they would take the story and put it into a better game. But again we are talking about a character for DBD not FNAF as a whole and Springtrap fits like it or not.

After Pyramid Head proved that video games aren't out of the question, many people jumped on the idea that this means FNAF isn't out of the question. Legion's Robbie skin further added fuel to the fire. And of course, there has been opposition, some understandable, some not.

Understandable opposition includes: the games are too cartoony (I mean, they're not realistic), they're not scary (fear is subjective, but I'm inclined to agree) and what would be his power.

Opposition that I don't understand includes: It's a kids game (this just speaks arrogance and shows that these people haven't actually paid any attention to what happens in them), it's marketed towards kids (I won't deny that it is, but Alien and Predator both have hundreds of children's merchandising, plus the books exist, and let's just say that they're not meant for kids) and the fanbase is terrible (which it is, but we're not much better).

I'm not against a FNAF chapter, but I'm not for one either. I think Springtrap would fit, but there are just far bigger names in horror that I would much rather see first.

    Also...

Mark has played DBD. He has three episodes from a LONG time ago.

  • Pryzm
    Pryzm Member Posts: 393

@SCP_FOR_DBD I have not played the VR game. I still stand by my opinion on it though. Again, just my opinion. There are hundreds of better ideas for DbD than Springtrap. They'd have to tie some really good perks to him to get many of us interested.

Not much more I can say on this. I understand and respect why some of you like it, but I stand by my opinion that he is very very niche. Opinions are just that, and nothing to run the world by. Good luck out there all.
