Reworks for Demogorgon's Add-ons and Perks Redux

As many of you know, Demogorgon is a really strong Killer in the right hands. Portals function as excellent map pressure and communication, and his Shred is both a baiting tool and punishes misplays if timed correctly. The only lackluster aspects about him are simply his add-ons(and perks). Seriously, these things barely make any difference at all. So, I've come up with a few ideas to replace them.

Just a quick note: the Rat Liver add-on should be base. It's literally the only add-on anyone ever runs on him, and it's for a good reason. Base Shred movement speed is way too slow, and this add-on remedies that. Save us the add-on slot and make this base please. (Needs testing.)

Anyway, here are the add-ons I've got. I'm not including rarities since that's way too much work for something so little. Hope you enjoy these as much as I do.

Reworked Add-ons:

Black Heart
  • Active portals emit a 16 meter terror radius.
  • Portals no longer apply the Oblivious status effect.

Brass Case Lighter
  • Downing a Survivor with Shred causes all generators in your terror radius to explode and regress.

Vermilion Webcap
  • Reveals the auras of Survivors who seal your portals for 6 seconds.

Violet Waxcap
  • The auras of portals are not revealed to other Survivors while a Survivor is sealing one.
  • When a Survivor seals a portal alone, they become your obsession.
  • You can only be obsessed with one Survivor at a time.

Thorny Vines & Upside Down Resin
  • Slightly/Moderately increases portal effect range. (Effect meaning Killer Instinct and Oblivious effects.)
  • Slightly/Moderately increases the time it takes for Survivors to seal a portal.

Lifeguard Whistle
  • All vault locations within 16 meters of your portal destination will be blocked for all Survivors for 15 seconds when using Interdimensional Travel.

Red Moss
  • Slightly reduces Killer movement speed while charging Of The Abyss.
  • Moderately increases Shred lunge distance.

Viscous Webbing
  • Receive a noise notification when Survivors start sealing your portals.
  • Slightly increases the time taken by Survivors to seal a portal.

Sticky Lining
  • All active portals become inactive after using Interdimensional Travel.
  • The portals traveled to and from stay active.

Rat Liver
  • Slightly reduces Shred successful attack cooldown.

Add-ons that stay the same:

Rotten Pumpkin & Mew's Guts
  • Increases the total number of available portals by 1.
  • (Uncommon) Slightly reduces Shred missed attack cooldown.

Rat Tail
  • Halves the time taken to open a portal.

Rotten Green Tripe & Deer Lung
  • Slightly/Moderately increases Killer movement speed while traversing the Upside Down.

Barb's Glasses, Eleven's Soda, & Unknown Egg
  • Slightly/Moderately/Considerably reduces the cooldown of Interdimensional Travel.

Leprose Lichen
  • Reveals the aura of all injured Survivors while traversing the Upside Down.

Perk Changes:

Surge

Putting a Survivor into the dying state causes all generators within a 32 meter radius to instantly explode and apply an additional 8%/9%/10% regression.

Cruel Limits

After damaging a generator, all vault locations within a 16 meter radius of that generator will be blocked for as long as it regresses.

This effect lasts an additional 10/15/20 seconds after the generator stops regressing.

Mindbreaker

While repairing any generator, Survivors are afflicted by the Exhaustion status effect. Any existing Exhaustion status effect timers are paused while Survivors are repairing a generator.

After ending the repair action, Survivors are afflicted with Exhaustion for 8/9/10 seconds.

Honestly I love this! I wish they would’ve buffed Demo’s perks a long time ago.

People really need to stop saying "Rat Liver is needed in base kit." It honestly just makes me think the people who think that are boosted as Demo and rely too heavily on it.

I'd say Cruel Limits should just be buffed to 32m and blocked for longer. Or block vaults 24/32m from your location, not the location of the repaired gen.

Decent ideas in general, however, I see a few people suggest Red Moss do your effect. That would be insane. No way should that exist. His Shred is a chase tool, with your idea people would just stop using portals and just spam Shred all the time with it. Not to mention if they did all your changes then you have Rat Liver always combining with that, meaning the draw back does nothing really..damn lol

I don’t get what you mean. It’s a great add-on, so much so that Demogorgon feels too slow without it. It’s like Wraith’s Windstorm add-ons prior to his rework. They’re must-haves.

There’s also Pyramid Head. He still moves slightly faster than Survivors while charging his power, so why not Demo? Yeah, you can play without it, but using Shred feels so sluggish without the boost.

Current Cruel Limits, even if the radius was bigger, still would not be worth a perk slot. In my version, you can use it on the go. Combine it with Ruin or Surge and get total map coverage.

According to the description of Red Moss in-game, it “enhances athletic performance and causes euphoria.” Previously, it allows you to break pallets with Shred. So it would only make sense if it could buff something about Shred. I could add an increased missed attack cooldown if that makes it better, or make it so that you have to hold Shred for 2 seconds first before getting an extended lunge.

At base-kit, Demo's Shred is highly effective. With Rat Liver it is pretty much a guaranteed hit all the time (on a good Demo that is).

Your Cruel Limits would need to be a Hex. It is too strong, since, most likely the gen is gonna be near a vault within those distances. And chasing a survivor off the gen, combined with Ruin is a passive Bamboozle to that tile outplay if there is no pallet nearby.

I mean, just change the description? I wouldn't say make it affect Shred's. An Ultra-Rare for that mechanic would really be way too strong to use. And it would be used all the time.

From the looks of it, you’re a Demogorgon player, so you should have enough experience to know that Shred often goes unused because it’s better used as a zoning and punishing tool. I don’t really understand how Rat Liver guarantees hits when naturally you should hit the Survivor when they’re in front of you. If you caught someone out in the open, you should be able to throw them off without being slowed down.

Hex: Cruel Limits? Heck no. The scenario you described is the whole purpose of the perk: it turns generators into dead zones unless it isn’t regressing. If it’s troublesome, cleanse Ruin and/or tap the gen. If the Killer is on their way with Ruin and CL, run away early when you hear the heartbeat and stay away from it.

You’re overstating the power of this add-on. I put “moderately” but it’s not gonna launch you across the map with a single bound. It just enhances your chasing tool a bit. A longer lunge in most cases wouldn’t even make much of a difference. You can just punish window vaults or W-holders from a few meters further behind. If you use it wrong, you may overshoot your target or hit a wall.

Rat Liver guarentees Shred hits in loops and tiles. Honestly, the amount of Demogorgon's that only use his power as a bait is astonishing. His Shred is devastating. I use Shred as often as I can. Only baiting when i'm at a dropped pallet, or they're teasing a possible vault to scare them off it. His Shred is crazy strong at base-kit. This is why I am so confused why people always say "Rat Liver is needed to be basekit."

The reason being, you're passively blocking outplays simply by defending a gen. Current CL punishes them for doing their objective. Yours would need to be a Hex because it gives the killer insane defensive potential, even without a combo of perks attached.

Yeah, I should have probably asked how much farther it allows Demo to leap to. How many meters does it increase by?

A lot of great ideas. +1

The only thing I don't like much is the base Rat Liver (since Shred is already pretty powerful even without that addon), and Cruel Limit which combined with Ruin or Surge could be problematic. I think it would be better to change its effect to simply apply in a radius around the killer, so that it can be useful in chases.

I’m still confused as to what your argument is. Rat Liver guarantees hits how? I know Shred is devastating. It’s my one of my favorite moves to use in the entire game, but I’m not talking about Shred itself. I’m talking about the movement speed debuff while holding it.

Again, that’s the whole point of the perk. Perks that block windows restrict where the Survivors can to go during a chase. The current version does not punish the Survivors at all, unless you use Tinkerer, in which, you’ll lose one gen and earn maybe one or two hits max.

The range? Um... lemme check the wiki...

Base Shred travels 11 meters, so maybe... two or three extra? Without testing I can’t exactly give you a solid answer. :/

    Thanks a lot!

I’m already having an argument about the Rat Liver being base, so... yeah. At this point, I could go with or without it. As long as there are other add-ons that are more attractive than they are now.

However, I firmly stand by this version of Cruel Limits. Maybe it could use a range decrease to 16m, I wish I could test it, but really believe this is how it should be. Demogorgon’s perks are all designed to impact generators and this is the way to do it.

My argument is that Rat Liver gives Demo angle gains far quicker than normal, meaning you not only lose minimal ground when baiting, but vs a Demo that knows what they're doing, Rat Liver pretty much makes Shred unmissable due to how quickly Demo achieves the right positional angle for it. A good Demo should never be missing a Shred with Rat Liver (excluding human error). Having that at base-kit would lower Demo's skillcap drastically. I never use Rat Liver on Demo for that very reason. If the devs did a ptb of this new Demo, then everyone would see how busted Rat Liver Demo base is.

Hmm, yeah if it was only a small amount like 2/3m then yeah i'd say that's fine. I did have it in my mind like 6m lol

I like it, but cruel limits could be disgusting.

That’s much more convincing if you put it that way. At this point, I’m drifting more towards the middle. I’ll come clean, looking back, I don’t think I’ve played much Demogorgon without Rat Liver. But at the same time, it’s complicated. A lot of people, including Otzdarva and Bronx, agree that Rat Liver is a such a low-level add-on with game-changing properties. And then you make a compelling argument here. It’s something I wish we could playtest.

Thanks for the discussion. Not a lot of people on here actually sit through them.

Yeah, it is very surprising that add-ons like Rat Liver slip under the devs radar, value wise. We see it a lot: Wraith's Ghost is Brown; Pig's Combat Straps is Brown too etc. I think it's one of those things, like you mentioned, without a proper playtest from players that are experienced with that killer, you never know an add-ons value until months later lol maybe we will get a rarity swap with killer add-ons at some point in the future. Would definitely be warranted.

Haha most people on here don't know what sensible discussions look like XD I do like a lot of your adjustments here too. Most of Demo's add-ons are a little underwhelming for what you'd expect them to allow you to do with his power compared to what you see them do in-game.
