Infinite pallet/window vaulting needs a fix.
Every single game I’ve been killer as all had at least one infinite vaulting abuser. There’s no winning with these people as killer(unless you’re playing as Deathslinger, nurse, etc...). You break the pallet or vault over the window? Next thing you know you’re blind. You leave the survivor alone? They go work on generators until you find them, hit them and play ring around the Rosie again until you give up, they heal and work on the generator again. It’s an endless loop.
I feel like a good solution to this is to add a stamina bar(kind of). This stamina bar won’t be affected by running, healing, repairing, sabotaging or silent/slow vaulting. It will only drain for Fast/loud vaulting. Each survivor should get 3 charges. Each vault will drain 1/3 of the bar(1 charge) and should take around 10 seconds to begin recharging and 3 seconds to fully charge the bar. Once out of charges, the survivor cannot vault again until they gain another charge. Additionally, if the survivor has 2 charges and vaults, the recharge time resets to its pre-set time. Slow vaulting doesn’t take charges, however without any charges the survivor cannot vault in any way. I feel like this is a pretty fair solution, however I know it isn’t perfect. I wanna hear what my fellow dbd players think. Do you think this is a nice solution? If you don’t, what do you think is a better solution? This is an issue that, if ignored, will be the downfall of dbd. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

...no?

Uh, infinites are not a thing anymore and there are barely any god loops left.
13 -
They don't mean infinite loops, but rather that a survivor can just vault after vault after vault with no cooldown.

Maybe I got the name of it wrong, but nevertheless there is an issue with what I described. Is there something I’m missing?
0 -
Yes, that’s it. Thank you! Is there a name for that?
0 -
Baitpost? How long have you been playing killer? Most abusable infinites have been removed. If what you said was true, the downfall of dbd would've been years ago when real infinites and more abusable loops actually existed. Since then, the playerbase has only increased. You also have a thing called bloodlust to help you with chases.

I got the name of it wrong. My bad. But the described issue is still a big thing that needs fixing

Yes. Sorry, haven’t played in a bit so my terms are a bit off and stuff. I was referring to when survivors endlessly vault to avoid the killer, making it unrealistic and boring to all. Sorry about the confusion

I understood what you meant when I answered with "...no?"
It's a terrible idea to give the survivors a cool down on their only real defense, and it certainly won't be the downfall of dbd.
Edit: In fact, putting this in would be the downfall of dbd. Now all of a sudden every chase is basically 30 seconds long, which means generator time has to be shortened because if the average chase is 30 seconds long, current gen speed wouldn't be feasible to be done, which leads to even quicker games.

Devs likes to limit Killer's for using their power. I don't doubt they will also add cooldown bar to survivors anytime soon 🙃 . They like cooldown bars, they should change the game name to Dead by Cooldown Bars.

I see. It may not be the best idea, but it’s definitely not fair to leave this issue alone. I get it’s a wise survivor defense, but it honestly just makes the game boring for killers. It makes me want to hook camp them when I finally get them just to show them how it feels to play against a stubborn player. (I mean no offense to anyone reading this that uses this maneuver)
Now that I think about it, it isn’t anywhere near their only defense. There are plenty of things survivors can do to avoid losing a chase. As survivor, I escape half the chases without vaulting more than 3 times. It’s just not necessary and is more a thing survivors do because they don’t know what they’re doing or just wanna ruin another’s dbd experience. Point being: if that’s the only thing you do to escape a chase then I’m sorry, but you should consider developing new tactics

"Stubborn survivor"? Dude, their objective is to do generators and not get hooked. No, if you're getting looped to the point where you have to follow them until bloodlust 3 kicks in to get a hit in, you need to work on your mechanics. If they're looping around a downed pallet, break it. So what if you get blinded while doing so? That means less time for them running away while you're breaking it.

And what about window vaulting? Should I break the window too? I’m not being disrespectful. This is just something that most killer mains agree needs to be fixed. Survivor mains disagree for obvious reason. Theres not much us killer mains can do

It's called shift tech you are exactly right but you are lying if you are saying every game and shift tech takes skill and really hard to perform without fixated.

Survivors already can't vault the same window more than 3 times. The window gets blocked after that... or at least it's supposed too. Sometimes, it gets bugged.
Pallet vaulting can already be solved by breaking the pallet. It's part of the game's strategy: The survivor tries to force the killer to break the pallet to gain distance, while the killer tries to stop the loop and hit the survivor, making the chase shorter. Breaking the pallet sooner is the choice to make when you think you will take a long time to catch the survivor on this loop. If you don't think you will catch them at all, don't waste your time, just break it.

Every once in a while I’ll have a game without someone doing it, but not very often. I personally never tried doing it cause I know how it feels to be on the other side so I don’t really know how hard it really is. But whatever side you’re on, thanks for the polite correction. It is appreciated

”Stubborn” I’m stubborn because I have more experience on loops.....
Let’s add a cool down on my vaults, please explain to me what I can do at a LT tile?
2 -
They should change the number of times windows can be skipped to 2. On some maps there are 2 window loops that last a long time.
1 -
Anytime if they are doing it try to mindgame them because you need to force that chase to start or the windows wont yet blocked. Oh yeah pallet shift teaching is easy tho I wont lie that might happen alot.

God damnit dude, you’re right about the window thing. I knew I was missing something. I completely forgot about it. I knew about it, but it just left my brain. I apologize for the inconvenience. I’m still not a fan of the pallet thing, but I will respectfully take this L.

Hey, maybe check this video out by Scott Jund, it's a helpful showcase of some of the generic tiles in the game that may help you in chases, also - some loops are designed in a way where you have to break the pallet in order to continue that chase, don't be afraid to break some pallets, Secondly, if you're in chase with a survivor and they vault the same window it should be blocked by the entity, if it isn't I would suggest recording a video of that window so the devs can look into it.
2 -
Well I’m not too familiar with dbd terms, so forgive me if I’m wrong... I assume that means the little brick maze section things. You can vault 3 times there. Listen, I’m just giving ideas. The things people do with the pallets are both unrealistic and boring for everyone but the survivor performing the action. No offense to you and your vaulting though. We all have different definitions of right and wrong.

Thank you. It is much appreciated

I kinda knew about the window thing but didn’t think about it at the time I made the comment. I apologize about that. I normally play Oni so most of the time I use his Demon Strike to break the pallet. Still inconvenient, but not as much.

"They go work on generators until you find them"
What are they supposed to do?
0 -
Find the weak link of the team and kill them which will basically guarantee a win with 1-2 gens left with minimum effort the more gens the bigger of a safety net this strategy creates
0 -
...you know that vaults get blocked if the survivor goes through them 3 times, right?
0 -
I think the main point is how long the chase are. It should long at least around 30-60 sec.(or at least 1 gen is almost done) and survivors will get hit for 100%. But it too long because the loop is often near each other so the chase is longer than it should and the gen gone away like the river. I think we should fix the balance of gen rush and looping. But I know it base on survivors experience so Dev make the gen speed fast so survivors have bigger chance to escape. (I'm old boyz killer)

It's fine as it is. Why have I seen a lot of forums about nerfing survivors?
0 -
I dont wanna say “git gud” but....
These 5 gen chases become less and less frequent as your skill and knowledge increases. I used to get looped so bad but that hasnt happened in well over a year

A question like that shows a few hours of playing as killer.
Is because, there are simply games you literally can't do against an experienced group of survivors.
0 -
Sorry but I mained killer for a few years I know what its like. There are no more infinites so window and pallets are fine. As long as you know what you are doing. So dont assume I have very few hours as playing killer. I asked that question because there have been a lot of threads about nerfing surv and when a survivor justs asks a question killers mains call them entitled
0 -
there are no infinites anymore? are you sure?..
0 -
Can you maybe describe the loop your having a hard time on? Often times loops that APPEAR broken and unmindgameable have an approach that you might not have realized.
0 -
Feel free to post a screenshot of one if you know of it.
0 -
Kind of like putting a cool down on a killers power?
0 -
This is just one example of SEVERAL
In myers' house there is a window that the killer cannot jump into the window 2 times in a row .. this loop can be easily abused if you know how to loop.
0 -
There is also another house with a garage that leads to an open basement on this same map. Nearby there are always 2 windows with infinite loops.

If you have scenerios like this, it needs to be addressed on the individual lvl. The devs have been pretty good at boarding up windows that are too strong. If any window is impossible to play against in that a chase can't even be established in thus entity blockers arnt implemented... I'd suggest making a video showcasing that and posting about it. Seeing their fix on structures like Wretched shop's double windows having one boarded up showcase that the devs DO try to make it fair, although admittedly...its very possible they miss locations. We should act to RESPECTFULLY bring up the individual locations with screenshots/video/ect so that everyone is clear exactly what we're talking about and they can be adjusted.

Not really. Window vaulting is among the most basic of survivor actions and putting a cooldown on vaulting ENTIRELY would be more akin to if your basic M1 attack had a cooldown. Cooldowns on powers (Sprit's phase for example) would be more comparable to cooldown on exhaustion perks (Sprint burst for example).
1 -
Could easily say the same about killers... shouldn't it be challenging for survivors? As someone who plays both sides I can say that I would rather have survivor nerfs.
0 -
Hmm. they probably do. At the time of my comment I forgot about the entity blocking windows afer ~3 vaults. half of my point is invalid. sorry about that.
0 -
I dunno... The new windows spots are imo good though, at least you can get from them a long distance.
0 -
I think it's ok to say "get gud" In this situation. I'm not great as killer, however I'm not horrible
0 -
Hey, here's your fix: break the damn pallet and learn how to loop windows(yeah, as killer too). If you mindlessly follow the survivor thru the loop you will waste too much time. Most windows can't be fast vaulted from one side, so force the survivor to loop from the bad side.
So basically learn to play before complaining about stuff.
0 -
No need to be rude man, I never said anything to offend you. It’s also not that simple against more experienced players
0 -
I'm not being rude at all. You need to get better at the game, that's not an insult. You get better by playing more, we all did this.
Keep playing and sorry if my post was offensive.

Yes survivors need some kind of nerf but soloQ needs something done about it. You have to run meta while in soloQ
0 -
I agree with your statement. Just came off a bit strange. There are still some areas with this problem though. Would be nice if they were fixed. Also I think it would be nice if the entity blocked pallets like it does for windows but maybe instead of 3 vaults the numbers a little higher. Just my thoughts
0 -
Pallet vaulting is perfectly fine and any good killer will tell you just as much. Break the pallet, seriously. If it's really unsafe pallet then just mindgame around it and you will get a hit 100%
Or if it bothers you that much use Brutal Strength and Spirit Fury + Enduring to have the pallet broken for you automatically and the stun tremendously reduced.
It wouldn't be nice, it would just a crutch for people that refuse to learn how to play the game.
