The Shrine of Secrets is outdated and should be changed.
Like the title says, I believe the Shrine of Secrets to be outdated and should be completely reworked. There are too many perks in the game now to even consider waiting for the one you need. This means you're screwed if the perk you want is from a licensed character.
You can either wait an entire year or spend real cash to get it, that or the lucky alternative, you can spend 9000 shards and buy the character (even if you don't want the character at all) and get your hands on 1,000,000+ bloodpoints to just unlock the perk.
So add a shop where you can go and buy the specific perk you want, doesn't even matter if the amount of shards needed are raised, you can even add a trade system where you can exchange shards for bloodpoints (instead of just buying a perk you already have), for simplicity sake, let's say 100 shards = 7,500 bloodpoints (the exact same amount you get for buying a 2,000 shard perk at the moment).
This'll do multiple things, first off and most importantly, you can get your hands on a perk you want immediately (if you got the shards) and not have to waste your time either waiting or grinding on a new character just to get one perk. A side benefit would that it'd make this game more new-player friendly, if a person comes to dbd specifically to play demogorgon but they're told they have to get clown for pop, leatherface for bbq, plague for corrupt and infectious, legion for discordance, etc. Then they're going to get seriously demotivated to play the game and grind for every single good perk.
Sure this might not be the best solution, but it's sure a hell of a lot better than waiting forever just to get one perk. Even if you do spend real money, you still gotta grind out the character to unlock it.

Patience is a virtue.

Patience my dear.

So you both think you should wait who knows how long without having a perk that could win you plenty of matches?

Guys...This guys name literally says lazy in it. He clearly doesn't understand the grind being required. He wants an EZ way out. Bhvr pls don't do this.

Just buy the character that has the perk you want. SoS is better for getting bps anyway. Let me explain.
Federal minimum wage in US is 7.25 an hour. You probably make more than that but lets just go with that number. Most characters go for 5 bucks. Earning 9000 shards takes a looong time. FOR SURE longer than an hour. So, if you think of your time as being money (which it is) then buying the character outright is cheaper. And its not like you need to buy every character at once, it will take you awhile to get it up to 40 anyway.
If you have a perk already thats in the SoS you get 150k bps for buying it again. Buying all 4 is 600k. It takes awhile to earn 8k shards, but it also takes awhile to earn 650k bps. Both take longer than an hour.
In all cases. Spending money is just simply a better use of that hour.
Another way of looking at it. How many hours are you going to spend playing that character? 40, 50 hours? For 5 bucks? Seems like a deal to me 🤷♂️

Yes. Good players don't need perks to carry them.

nah you should count yourself lucky that you have a chance to get stuf behind a DLC for free.

Not if that character is something you don't want, at all. If anything it'll inconvenience you as you now have another character that could steal your daily away from a character you actually want it to be on. Also if SoS is better for bloodpoints, then you're clearly proving my point, SoS is meant to unlock perks you want, if it's better to actually buy the character and grind instead, then it's doing its job poorly. My point is to add a system that doesn't waste your time anyways, if you could upright ignore having to both spend your money on something you don't want, grind just for the shards to get the character, and grind the bloodpoints to unlock the perk you want, then it'd be a better use of you time right?

At the cost not knowing how long you have to wait to get it? Especially now that the SoS is outdated due to the absurd number or perks? Yeah no. That's the equivalent of saying I should be glad that i can buy tiers in the first rift pass even though the grind was horribly long and basically forced you to buy tiers in the first place.

Even though there's killers who are many times weaker without specific builds? Such a stupid argument, to clarify, there's not a single perk I actually need, I already grinded for the ones I want, but I still believe this system should be added instead of leaving an already dying mechanic to bury itself further into the grave.

Theyll probably end up updating it a little, but it will ALWAYS be more efficient to buy the character. If it wasnt there wouldnt be any incentive to buy a character, or at least very little reason. Their model right now probably makes them quite a bit of money. My guess is at some point theyll add more perks to it. MAYBE increase tge amount of shards you earn a little, but i dont think theyre going to do much

I like the shrine. When there's a good perk in there it makes my whole dbd session lol.

I have to agree with op, since I've also wanted this change. Right now the shrine is nothing but a BP dump for me. But for newer players this would mean they could have a chance to survive and also reduce the grind significantly. DBD's grind is the result of an outdated bloodweb economy, when there were only about 30 perks. We have around 60 now I'm pretty sure, and that's only on the killer side. Also a new player isn't going to want to spend nearly 200$ just to get all of the characters, this is excluding cosmetics and the rift. BHVR probably won't do this since they probably bank on the fact that players have to pay for all the good perks.

I mean devs have literally no interest to change the shrine that way, from a survivor perspective it would make no sense to buy the characters since it's just skins and you could get their teachables way too easily.

I do not like the shrine, though I don't think devs will even listen. It has 4 rotation and most of the time, 2 of those perks are from free characters. It's messed up and a scummy tactic to get you to buy the DLC.I had to buy Plague w/real cash just so I could stall genrush games with CI and I kept missing CI when it was up in the shrine

you could just buy the dlc?

Yes. I think you should either wait or spend IRL money. I really, really do.

They should let the perks be random for everyone like the daily. And once a week you can break a survivour and killer perk to see a new option show up.

They will never do what the OP is suggesting. You can grind for everything but licensed characters. If they made their perks easily accessible for free nobody would buy the Dlc. I would however favor increasing the number of perks in the shrine. Either to 6 or even 8. Then your odds of getting the perks you want increase.

I bought some killer perks from the shrine when I started playing and needed good perks asap, like BBQ, Ruin (before rework), Discordance. Although, I think that it is easier and more effective to buy the character itself as was said above. I don't have all the perks and all killers/survivors yet but I don't even look at the shrine right now, it's cheaper to just wait and buy someone with shards IMO.

Since the cosmetics shop was introduced, I never used the shrine again. Saving my shards to buy some comestics. But for people who use it, I agree that some changes should be made.

They should give 4 sets of 4 perks each and you can only buy 2 perks from each set.

WOW! Single stupidest answer i readed this week. Congratulations! Take your crown, King of Fools.
