Gen-camping... for real??

So, I played Myers in Lerys yesterday, and got him up to infinite Tier 3, and killed off two survivors by the time we're down to one gen. This took about 5 mins or so.

Thankfully, for whatever reason, the survivors had 3-gen'd themselves. So what do you think I did? I patrolled the gens, looking for activity, and whenever I found signs of activity I would search and chase where possible. But all the while ensuring I was never too far from the gens to allow the other survivor to complete them. They actually got to the point where one gen was almost done (all 4 pistons were pumping furiously).

But of course, with Myer's large terror radius, they'd run and hide before I could get there, and with that particular gen I hung around to ensure it regressed because the other two weren't on, so I wasn't worried about those at all.

Eventually, after about 20 mins or so of a stale-mate, they slip up and make mistakes (though tbf, I had insidious as well which I started to put into use - not my build, it was requested), which I capitalised on and killed them both (without needing to slug because the runner didn't bother to hide their tracks).

Cue end-game lobby, I'm accused of being a "Gen-camper", and the salt of all the kingdoms of all the worlds were invoked upon me.

Gen-camping?? Seriously? Is there nothing that survivors won't complain about when a game doesn't go their way?

Honestly, it makes me worry how dumb some people are when they expect me to literally walk away from protecting the gens which, as the killer, is literally my objective!! Like, they literally expect me to walk away and let them complete everything just so they can t-bag me at the gate and shout about how brilliant they are and how I'm a noob.

Yeesh...

I've heard this one before. I've been accused of gate camping as well when I play survivor, but I'm not sure anything I did counts as 'gate camping'.

Three gens are mostly the survivors fault.

Well, at least they didn't decide to hide for hours. That's what some people do as they think "if the other survivor dies I can escape via the best mechanic in the game! (hatch)"

Ask yourself, "If I do this, can it help me to win?"

If the answer is yes, then refer to below otherwise proceed with the action.

"This is wrong, I should not do this, survivors are entitled to win and I am the bad guy or else I would be trolling with friends rather than alone over here with my machete."

According to survivors' standards, anytime I kick a gen and they work on it before it regresses to zero, they are "tunneling" the generator. report them.

You had a good point... until you starting making stuff up.

Just to make sure, I went back and re-checked. Yup, I never said anything about all survivors. You came up with that on your own. I only asked the rhetorical question as to whether there was anything that survivors wouldn't complain about - that's very clearly a wide general question, and understood in this forum to be in the context of survivor's crying about face-camping, tunnelling, etc, etc, when the killer is merely going about their objective.

I also followed this up stating quite clearly "some people", not "all people".

Next time, please try not to be so judgement and projecting your limited narrow interpretation on what was a wide general statement.

    Thank you.

You literally say, "Is there nothing that survivors won't complain about..."

Yes. Yes, I did. You projected the 'all' in there, which completely changes the meaning.

If I said "Americans love cheese-burgers", are you gonna respond and say "Well, my Aunt Cheryl from Pittsburgh is more partial to ham-burgers, so you're wrong"? That just demonstrates you don't understand the basics of English communication.

I didn't say "all survivors" because I'm educated enough to know that you can't make such general sweeping statements and apply them to everyone, unless you have total domain knowledge which no-one can claim to have. I didn't even say "most survivors", even though that is my experience; I've very rarely come across survivors that have been beaten royally and they give kudos to the killer for playing well (I myself make a point of doing so). I can't say "some survivors" because that would imply the minority, which is certainly not my experience of those who complain, and from my understanding from listening to others as well. So I left it as just "survivors", without any further categorisation. You did that all on your own, and then had the audacity to project that back to me.

Are you a survivor-main by any chance? This last of thinking is a trait I often see from survivor-mains, which is expected as survivor is an easy role to play, and completely unlike killer where you have to juggle multiple different things simultaneously, as well as master multiple distinct characters (as opposed to survivor where the mechanics are all identical).

Entitled survivors will complain about anything and everything, if they didn't get a free win.

Sorry if I read you wrong. You didn't say "all" survivors, it is just said so often I guess I generalized there.

No I'm a killer main, I have over 7 devotions as killer and 2 as survivor, but lately I'm 50/50.

    No worries :)

Not sure how you missed that in my first reply though? But never mind.

I find survivors usually win 3 gen situations because regression is so slow. They do exactly what you're saying. Hit a gen and hide when the killer gets near. 3 gens are actually hard to defend in the current state of the game unless everyone is about to die with their final hook.

Almost the same thing happened to me with Freddy in Yamoka. Only 1 gene was missing, those last ones were 3 generators nearby between the dojo. But with three survivors and I didn't even have pgtw. I had to apply unimaginable pressure to prevent them from doing so.

I've been it too lol the survivor was complaining that I was guarding 3 gens. Funny part is that there was only 2 gens and they thought there was 3. If they walked to the other side of the map they would've found the other 2 gens.
