Is The Entity a female?
Comments

Yes and no.
It mostly has to do with the French language that most of the devs speak. In it, nouns are designated a gender, and the Entity is given a female designation, and the devs have used feminine pronouns in the past as well.
At the same time, however, the Entity is a cosmic horror that could easily be beyond the concept of gender (given that it suffers from a blight every now and then, it also seems plant-like, and genders in plants are VERY rare).
So it really depends on your point of view. One thing is pretty clear though, NOTHING points to the Entity being male.

Thank you so much for this.

That’s soooo not offensive.
like, at all.

Huh. This is a neat concept. I always thought it didn’t have a gender 🧐 I thought of it just as this...evil force, I guess, beyond what anyone can really understand or define.
Interesting information in this thread though.

Negative. It's really genderless but as the person above said, it's referred to as a 'she' because of the devs and their French.

I mean, there are some people who jokingly dubbed the Entity 'Jolene'

yes the entiy is nea

I'm not even 100% sure The Entity has a consciousness we can relate to, let alone a gender!
How I mean is it may be something that acts like an amoeba or virus of sorts - it does a lot of complex stuff, but is it simply instinctual or thought out?
In terms of gender I have no idea, but it may not adhere to gender that we identify things by.

It seems to be genderless. The devs use females pronouns cause french. I don't think it matters though.

see like the entity it really doesn't matter if you call it female or male its a alien/thing
i hope this answer your question

I think something of that kind has no gender.

The Entity is just that, an entity, a formless being able to shape and manifest into anything it wants, like spikes over the exit gates, claws over gens, or the dear spider for sacrificing. The Entity was given no gender, and has no gender. Think of Cthulhu because our dear spider-god is basically that of a great one from H.P. Lovecraft's works. A cosmic, godlike being that our minds cannot comprehend, has a cult following (confirmed in Tome 1), and does not need to reproduce. It only has she/her attached to it because of the French mother language of the devs, which gives the entity a feminine pronoun

If you find sexism funny, then that's a pretty overtly dark sense of humour.
1 -
Not really sexism, just a generic stereotype.
0 -
How do we tell you that 'generic stereotypes based on one's gender' is very much the definition of sexism?
0 -
Also known as sexism.

Ok, it is sexism my bad. But I did have a little chuckle when I read it.

It's fine, we all slip up at times :).

Resident French speaking Doctor Main here,
Basically this is correct. Unless the devs used the nous/ons version of the nouns, since those are gender neutral. Sincerely,
Resident Doctor Main
I don't have the budget for Italics to be used twice in a post.

meanwhile the german translation went and created a whole new male form:
'Entitus' (I checked a couple of dictionaries and couldn't find it.)

Bruh

Normally it should be
Entität
which is female in grammatical form

it could be a none binary gender at this point 🤔

The Entity simply IS.
It's so far beyond human ideas of gender, especially white western human's idea of gender that discussing things is pointless. It's a good way to see who in the community is an ignorant brat however.
