What's with the sudden upsurge of OoO users?

For some reason over the last few weeks I can't even play a single day of killer without getting at least one match of these scummy little SWFs with their Object of Obsession.

The perk completely ruins any form of enjoyment in the game. You're forced to go after the OoO user, or the entire game is running around to gens just to find they're abandoned because the user tells them all when to leave ahead of time. You go after them, and 5 gens are done before you can kill them anyway.

This godawful perk really needs to go die in a hole. All I can say is thank god the DC penalties are turned off at the moment.

I've been running OoO for the past 3 days.

It's so much fun. I'm a solo player though, there's no way I can relay messages to any other survivor. I do let them know that the killer is coming though, gives us a lot of time.

I've had a couple of killers DC on me, I usually die though, but when I die I'm usually the only one that dies while the 3 escape.

I ran a Freddy for 5 gens with OoO, I ran a Trapper, Pig, Doctor, for about 4 gens as well. I've had Spirits, Trappers and Hags DC on me.

    I've had a blast.

Idk, object is the only way you can reliably survive against Deathslinger for longer than 10 seconds and actually be able to react to him before he's in breathing distance of you

    Object of Obsession, Laurie's perk.

I don't have OoO users in my game often, but when I do (depending on their skill) it can become annoying 😒but usually they are not that good.

Since nobody said it, it’s because of the new map. New chapter drops and devs make that map the go to option for awhile and OoO is broken as F on it so, why wouldn’t survivors take advantage? That’s my theory~

You can always dodge the SWF lobbies. I think its not bannable (correct me if I'm wrong).

    Zeus Member Posts: 2,112

You won't know if it's a SWF in the first place unless they make it really obvious. Besides the issue with object is that when you see someone running it, you immediately assume it's an SWF and get tilted. And the information it gives even for a solo player is unmatched by any other perk in the game.

  • VonCrow
    VonCrow Member Posts: 389

Well you cannot know for sure if they are SWF, but you can always dodge lobbies where all 4 survivors appear at same time.

It can be either that or the killer who was matchmade with them just left and I was the replacement. Usually when I play survivor and get 3 other randoms, the killer wouldn't even be there. He'll come after sometime and for him, it'll be like all survivors came at the same time.

This perk seriously needs to go. I’m getting so many of them too and it enables the worst kind of toxic people.

I think people are going at object the wrong way as it can’t really be nerfed but maybe reworked because it’s only op with a swf but solo that info only goes to one person and it’s usually just to know if they can safely do gens or not (atleast that’s how I use it) but I truly doubt a change will come anytime soon as it’s not used as much as other perks that might need changes first my point is while we all may hate swf ooo nothing can be done if it will ruin solo players using it

Because killers have made a big deal about it being OP and needing to be removed from the game so survivors that weren't using it are now trying it out to see what the fuss is about?

No doubt because of the new map. People have noticed, thanks to popular streamers who've pointed it out, that you can never be caught if you just run around in circles in the corridors. There's no way for the killer to cut you off or corner you, so it takes minutes for them to catch up and by that time.. you've thrown the game as a killer.

As a killer I can vouch for this.

Whenever streamers/forum posts make videos about perks and it becomes viral, people start running those perks. It happens with exploits and anything in the game really.

When someone rants about a topic for hours daily to thousands of people you are correct, peoplestart checking it out

I've faced a few... But their're the ones that die first... because they got cocky and paid for it (not because I tunneled them out of the game

The thing about object is it’s amazing for practicing chases. Especially against a Freddy/ nemesis perk user. Killers will more often than not tunnel you just for bringing it.

In truth I don't often see it but when I do it does lead to an audible sigh. Basically dictates the game as now I have a choice to focus on the OoO or risk getting little else due to the sharing of info.

Its not always abused by SWF on comms but it is the one thing in this game I just lament seeing, given how much it tends to dictate play.

I don't think there is much to learn from getting chased by a PWYF user. They hit 3 stacks, you instant throw pallets or go down. Fortunately it's not a very common perk.

Alot of the time on Freddy I just bring a blindness block since Freddy add-ons are pretty meh outside the ultra rares and chains. If I see someone who has used object in the past, blindness block + black box is one of the nastiest tunnel combo's in the game. You get the permanent 1 way wallhacks and they never wake up. Freddy can drop DS straight into a snare too which I find pretty funny.

    Same

I've noticed a uptick in survivors using it but either they're bad SWFs or they're alone because all they do is try to get me to chase them.

So I ignore them and go after others. The OoO person keeps butt dancing while I kill the other members of the team so OoO is working out well for me as I essentially have two survivors not doing gens now.

People have finally discovered just how broken this perk is. I'm surprised it took this long to be honest. I remember a streamer (might have been Otz or Scott) saying something to a similar effect a while back

it's because of the new map midwich elementary. it's basically broken on it

Imagine seeing a survivor through walls... Literally forces you to go for them.

    the real question is:

why has this god awful perk not been reworked yet?

are... are we gonna get that together with the Haddonfield rework?

    in our dreams?

that perk needs a rework badly

It's almost like killers have no aura perks of their own. 🙄

  • ClickyClicky
    ClickyClicky Member Posts: 3,536

Yes. Seconds of situational aura reading is comparable to a survivor biewing your aura at any point on demand and then relaying that info to his buddies on discord.

Also when the killer sees your aura for 4 seconds after a hook, you dont see him all the way across the map tbagging you just for the sake of being annoying.

  • Kind_Lemon

The game's mechanics need addressing before the perk is changed. Comms, blood ambers, Spine Chill, etc. can all result in the same OoO situation but without the killer's knowledge. OoO just scrapes off the coating hiding the issue present when survivors don't bother with stealth and only use OoO to gain distance and decide where chases take place.

OoO is not that bad actually. In an swf, it usually been run either by their best runner, or their worst pretending to be their best.

I actually run to the OoO, but change target if something else comes in my way. Somehow, they never expect that. Once you hooked someone, you have the advantage to know where the OoO is, which is on the other side of the field waving at you to come. So you know another one is going to the hook, and that means no more than one person on gens.

And in the lategame, the object cant escape you anymore, no matter how good a runner it is.

I like what someone else suggested, just make it show the killer's aura when yours is revealed.

  • NekoGamerX
    NekoGamerX Member Posts: 5,288

needs a rework because swf use it to pretty much cheat and it been used a lot more lately.

Might also have to do with all the DLC being on sale for half off a while back, more people have the chance to get the perk.

You're allowed to tunnel the ######### out of OoO's. Play as scummy as you like and it's fine, choosing to use the 'tunnel me' perk means they can't give you ######### for it.
