Pyramid head: tips and tricks help

So, silent hill has been here a while. And being the massive silent hill/Resident evil fan I am, I got him. So far he is the killer i synergize with the best. But i dont have the perks that are best for him yet. I'm almost there, and i decided that i should use infectious fright, monitor and abuse, surveillance, and nurses calling. This in my opinion gives me map control , and I can plan to place my trails in the most annoying spots for survivors. Leading to an early snowball game. Now my questions for you guys, is do you think I should replace a nurse calling with ruin, because caging will force survivors off gens, or keep it with calling? Do you have any tips and tricks for me for playing as killer in general? And can you give me tips to becoming rank 1 killer on console? I want to be like you guys. And I'm willing to learn if you are willing to teach.

For me I use Ruin, Surveillance, infectious frights, and whispers. It's what i have for now.

I leave them tormented and mini mori to kill them off or send them off to a cage if they just got off a hook cause chance of DS, they're under a pallet, if someone near with a flashlight or i need to hurry to a nearby gen or protect the totem.

If you got some idea where they all are or at least how far they are if most of them are far off just hook and have them come towards you or if they're nearby cage and chase someone.

Don't break every single pallet they throw down leave all the unsafe pallets that are easy to walk around. If they decide to jump the pallet they're locking themselves in an animation and it's an easy M2 hit. Break only the safe pallets.

If your using the add-ons that increase the trails length and duration (don't really need them but makes it better) i like making a trail around the hooked survivor. Most of the time they are forced to do the unhooking thing slowly buying you more time. If they drag it for too long and your nearby that could be an easy 1 or 2 tormented.

Alright. So the pallet thing. What are safe and unsafe pallets? I have been avoiding breaking any that fall lately. So if I were to guess, a safe pallet is out in the open and I can just walk around it. A unsafe pallet is something like the shack pallet, where the survivor can gain distance by dropping it and going out the other side or window, right?

Also, I hear rank 1 killers use a method called the "a and w" method, where you walk without constantly looking where your going. How can i corporate this method into controller?

    Builds:

1- Hex: Ruin, Surveillence, Infectious Fright/Nurse's calling, M&A (tracker)

2- I'm all ears, save the best for the last, BBQ, Pop (Agressive but versatile, takes a bit of skill and generally knowing when to pressure and when to give up a chase)

    Tips & Tricks

1- NEVER use your ranged attack out of the open given how easy it is to dodge in the open. Use it when a survivor is forced to go into a pallet, window, and make sure they commit to it

2- You can bait survivors into not dropping pallets/vault by shoving your sword into the ground, if they do vault/drop then just ranged attack, if they don't then just cancel and attack.

The secret is knowing if they commit or not, that's why the no.1 counter to this killer is juking.

3- Avoid using your cages of atonement unless you have another person on hook, you know where ahooked survivor is but knowing where a cage is, it's just an educated guess at most. Knowledge of the injured = pressure

That's pretty much it. Remember it comes with experience so don't be discourages if you lose a few matches here and there, use them to make you a better killer, good luck!

In my opinion swap out Surveillance for I'm All Ears- teachable from level 30 from The Ghostface.

Also, another tip that hasn't been said yet: never break pallets. God pallets, yeah, break em, but the rest of the pallets you don't have to break at all and if a survivor tried to loop you then force them into a damned if you do, damned if you don't scenario.

Also, use your cages only if you know someone is very nearby and you can start a chase almost immidiately again. Otherwise you're better off saving the torment for Judgement and just hooking.

Got it backwards unsafe pallets are often found at very small loops you can easily and quickly walk around leave these alone. Safe pallets are like the shack, if the way around is too long, or no way to proceed without breaking it those you have to break or just gives the survivor an infinite loop.

The "A and W method" never heard of it before you mean moonwalking? Killers have a red stain always in the direction they're facing moonwalking hides it for the chance to caught them off guard.

I freaking love playing PH now that I got the hang of his mechanics and mindgames.

My current favorite build for him:

Forced Penance, Nurse's Calling, Deathbound, Tinkerer (or replace either of the last two with Save the Best for Last)

^this build works well with my preferred playstyle of keeping survivors injured and scared/jumpy - a playstyle that compliments Pyramid Head.

    My tips:

take advantage of perks that give survivor locations (such as Nurses' Calling or Tinkerer) to get the jump on a survivor by attacking thru walls with PH's range attack. Only use it when confident in a hit, especially in close quarters like corridors, vaults, pallets, etc.

That being said, use your trails in small amounts ONLY in such vital locations so that fleeing survivors will either accidentally tread on them, or be forced to make the decision to: go around it and close your gap or shortcut thru the trail (the latter is more likely).

Lastly, use your cages sparingly. Keep in mind that the cage is sent all the way across the map from you, which no killer usually wants. Both survivors ina cage rescue lose torment, while a hook rescue removes no torment. The ideal time to cage is when a survivor is downed right next to another hooked survivor or next to a key objective. Otherwise - keep your progress in applying torment to all survivors, keep them guessing on where you'll place a dying survivor for mindgames and go slay, my friend.. :)

    Here's 2 tips.

    1. Don't use the range if a survivor is on a slant that is 2 inches above or below you. It'll never hit them.

    2. If a survivor is in front of a hole, don't use a range attack. It won't go past the hole itself.

Hope that helps. Stairs is iffy. 5 steps above or below won't hit them even if you're above or below them and if they are near a ledge, on the stairs like in The Game map, it won't connect.

Interesting. I'll take your tips into my arsenal, and see what works for me and come back to let you know how it goes. In the mean time, would you guys check out my post about a new game mode?

Plant Torment trails in front of your hex totems, you'll get information as to where someone is and they'll be tormented for free, i use Lullaby on him for a bit of extra slowdown and the trails help a ton with totem protection
