Bringing up Pennywise again. Would he fit or not, what do you think?
Title. After rewatching IT and IT2 and also re-reading the book again I once again thought about Pennywise in DbD.
I won't be saying anything about his possible power or else, because this has been said countless times already.
I just want to hear people's opinions. Please discuss.

You see, this is how I feel they ultimately decide on licensed content. I feel like it goes like this.
1) Money, they want to know that whatever license they acquire WILL bring money both for them and the license holder. If they feel like a license could bring in quite a lot of money, they WILL seek it out. They are ultimately a business at the end of the day.
2) Gameplay, they look to see if whatever license either they or the community has been asking for can fit within the confines of the game. However, they will bend it to make the license fit.
3) Lore/Story, arguably, the least important. Of course they want to make sure the license will fit lore wise BUT this is the most easily flexible. We have seen them do it before and they WILL do it again for future license content.
So, yes, Pennywise does fit AND they've even seeked the license before but was basically told "now's not the right time." and, like Jason, IT has a permanent invitation to DBD. It's all up to SK to stop his whole "I don't want partnerships with games." crap to actually begin this process.

SPOILERS
I think it would fit, i know that pennywise is an all powerfull being but the entity could take him when he was almost dying in the end of the second, since te would be weakened it would be easier for the entity ti take control of him.
He could have an ability that defies the entity like pyramid head like making survivors float per exemple.

Nah
What's he gonna do?
Hit me with a balloon?
2 -
Another clown sounds boring. No interest whatsoever.
3 -
I agree with you here. If they would be sure something would bring money, they will add it.
2 -
Don't we have two ugly dudes with chainsaws, two killers in white masks who stalk their prey and two killers with similar concept behind them (Legion, Ghostface, it might not be very obvious here)?
3 -
Lore wise? No. He doesn't fit. He's powerful on the level of the Entity itself.
2 -
Pennywise and the Entity are both horrific cosmic beings. I'm not entirely sure it'd work out, I think they exist on the same plane basically.

He would fit if done right, hes one of the few massive licences left. On par with F13 and Alien. Once we get the big ones, I wonder what more obscure licences we might get.

Don't really agree. Entity is capable of controlling multiple pocket dimensions, pulling people out of different realities and so on. Pennywise`s reach was limited by Derry and even so it was weaker than Entity's one. From what we saw, he is more likely just a mere creature from alternative reality of nightmares described on other King's books. Extremely dangerous one of course, but not a god.

Pennywise is far, far weaker than the Entity. Their abilities could seem similar, but they are certainly on different levels.

If Pennywise got free from his shackles, then sure he'll work.

He doesn't fit in, he's a very powerful being and I wouldn't want him to look ridiculous breaking pallets or patrolling generators knowing he's a higher-level character.

Not a fan of the idea. We already have 1 clown, why add a second? It'll just make the one we already have get played even less than he is already played.
There are so many other killers from film and other game series they could try to get the license for:
-Xenomorph
-Predator
-Chucky
-Jason Vorhees
-Wendigo (Until Dawn)
-The Nun (Conjuring)
-Pinhead (Hellraiser)
-Dracula (Van Helsing)
Etc.

The first 3 fit less. I will never understand people who want characters that have nothing to do with the concept of this game.

we can't have 2 clowns, better have a shapeshifter

I wouldn't mind Pennywise if he can transform into his Spider form and do crazy ######### lol.

pennywise's true form was described as 'akin to a spider'.... we might very well argue pennywise is a direct avatar of the entity, from a timeframe when it had not roster of killers and survivors, and thus had to go out hunting by itself, and being significantly weaker.

General lore fit? Pennywise the Dancing Clown, no. It, the horrifying supernatural ancient fear eating horror monster? Absolutely.
Pennywise is a weird mix of too silly and not silly enough. He's dumb and goofy but you can't make fun of him and hang a lampshade on just how dumb and goofy he is. You just have to go "look, he's big scary clown, we must run in fear and try not to laugh". And yes, he is dumb and goofy, the reason he's so bloody terrifying is that the dumb and goofy clown slowly stalks you for days or weeks on end whilst slowly driving you insane via jumpscares and supernatural apparations before finally eating you in a semi-cannibalistic bit of fine dining. (Like it or not, humans are innately terrified by the idea of a human shaped monster consuming them, which is one reason that so many humanoid monsters from pop culture and folklore eat people).
A terrifying shapeshifting monster of which pennywise is but a single aspect of? I don't know how that would work, but I want it to. It would certainly be the weakest killer in the game, but it'd still be fun.

I suppose Entity didn't have a timeframe where it was weaker. It just existed.
But it would be cool if Pennywise got retcon`ed to be one of Entity's creations. Same could be done with Slenderman, he just has too many traits that could resemble and Entity - abduction of people, ability to grow spider-like limbs and so on

That somehow makes yet another clown less boring? You're not convincing me.

Demogordon only lovingly protects her eggs and find food for her young. If The Entity makes that lovely lady join her cult..then I dont see why Pennywise wouldnt come.

I haven't watched IT, but I think he'd fit in pretty well, the problem is how could we differentiate between the two clowns?
0 -
But humans were able to hurt Penny. No one has been able to strike back at The Entity yet. That makes her stronger to me. So she should be able to pull Penny in, if she wants. Just grab him now that he's a baby and hibernating and weakened.

Freaking. Agreed.

Before Clown people thought the devs would never add a clown, now people want another clown.
As someone who absolutely loves the Clown, I am not sure if there should be two or not. BUt Clown is one of my favorite killers, both design and playstyle wise. I play p3 Kate as surv too.
Clown is love.
edit: I thought about it for a minute and I would buy a second clown DLC

@Blue_Archer33 I ain't buying it if it doesn't have it. It was a big part of his character in the final movie.

If you read the book, you would know why he wouldn't fit. Simply put, she is an entirely different entity than the entity herself, and might be even more powerful.
