maybe new map mechanics?
there is a lot of discussion about nerfing roles or perks, and many of them have made it into the game. while this is meta changing, i don't feel like the game has been made better. my favorite map is the new silent hill map, and its not just because of all the cool features (but they are very cool, don't get me wrong) its because of the added breakable wall mechanic.
i was left amazed when i found the secret stairway in the bathroom. i totally wasn't expecting anything like that, and there is so much potential in other maps for balancing and game changing. included with the random windows being boarded up and pallet placement, there could be breakable walls as well. killers could shape the area around them to suit there power, or for future chases. but the biggest thing that occurred to me was: why did it take four years for a new map mechanic to be added?
i want the person who pitched the idea of these walls to be given a bigger part of designing maps, because its been the biggest change to the game,it just hasn't been realized yet.
TLDR: new breakable walls are dope, wish there were more of them and more stuff like them

I recall the devs saying that they will introduce breakable walls along with the graphic update in one of their Q&A/Campfire streams to older maps.

Breakable walls were introduced with the Dead Dog Saloon map. I really enjoy them, and they do make looping more interactive and different. Hopefully they add them to the base game, but it might make looping way too difficult with some maps. I would be against them in jungle gyms, but on maps like that have unique structures, hell yeah!
