Killer/Survivor Idea

With the expansion of how killers are being designed, an idea that I had thought about a while ago for a killer based on the Latin American myth of La Llorona resurfaced and I wanted some opinions on it.

For anyone unfamiliar with the myth, it's about a woman who drowned her kids in a river from spite after finding out her husband had cheated on her, dooming her to wander the earth in the afterlife as a sort of limbo until she finds the lost souls of her children- or someone else to take their place.

With this in mind, I was thinking about a killer and survivor that are opposites in dynamic. A killer who's obsessive and forces their obsession to have to remain alone, and the a separated survivor who knows how to survive on their own and avoid being found.

The killer's backstory would be similar to La Llorona with them being an overbearing mother that would constantly obsess over their child and seclude them from all others until they inadvertently cause the child's death, being brought to the entity's realm to find a way to right her wrongs (in her mind) by exchanging others' lives for the life of her child.

On the other end of that conflict is a paranoid survivor who had been overly sheltered in their youth and thusly finds it difficult to confront danger, their perks leaning more towards avoiding them.

For the perks, I had ideas for the killer and survivor that reflect their role and story.

- Killer:

1. Motherly Venom- Your love pools as thick as a poison for the one you care for most. The obsession will remain broken for the first 90/135/180 seconds of the match. While Broken, the obsession makes no grunts of pain.

"Mother is always right."

2. Hex: Desperation- The growing pressure of losing your loved one leaves you growing constantly more agitated. Every completed generator makes you 0.5/1/2% faster.

"No one ever leaves. Never again."

3. Depravity- Lack of morality has driven you to sinful deeds and caused you great pain. This pain spreads to those who follow in your footsteps. Once a person is unhooked, survivors who have not performed an altruistic action will receive a 4/5/6% penalty to all other actions. This perk can only be used once every 240/180/120 seconds.

"All I do is for you. Be greatful."

- Survivor:

1. Superstition- Your sixth sense and belief in the supernatural helps you to avoid harm. For the first 20/25/30 seconds of the match, the aura of the killer and all survivors' auras are visible to you.

"It knows we're here. We need to move."

2. Sheer Fear- In the moment of danger fight, flight, or freeze are the options of response. Grants the survivor the ability to lie down in a state reminiscent of the dying state. However, the killer can pick up the survivor and getting up takes 5/4/3 seconds.

"Play dead and don't move a muscle."

3. Deathly Still- When being stalked by a predator, silence is essential to live to see another day. Grants the survivor the ability to turn off a generator to silence any noise. The generator can still be kicked by the killer to cause a 5% immediate regression if kicked, and takes 8/7/6 seconds to restart before continuing progression.

"Nothing is here, don't come this way."

As for the killer's power, it stems from a twisted version of regret with a give and take dynamic for their speed. While wandering around the map, the killer will be constantly crying as they move at 4.2 m/s as if mournful and regretful. Once they find a survivor, they'll let out a shriek and be instantly sped up to a pace of 4.8 m/s as long as they are within a chase. Their power "Regret" allows the killer to see the auras of injured survivors for 5 seconds if they are involved in any activity, as long as they are outside the terror radius. (Repairing, Cleansing, Healing, etc.) If affected, the survivors with outlined auras will begin to cry loudly to alert them while the killer covers their face and cries loudly as well. The power's cool down lasts for 20 seconds before it can be used again.

That's some random thought that resurfaced with the release of The Deathslinger. Thoughts?

    Perks

Motherly Venom - Change it to either they leave no pools of blood or make no grunts of pain and I’d say this is a good perk that’s balanced.

Hex: Desperation - Overall balanced perk as it may be cleansed.

Depravity - This seems like a very good alternative to Thanataphobia, and personally I’d like to see it. My only problem is that some people would be a bit too altruistic once it stacked, but that’s only a play style so it should be fine.

Superstition - This has been something I’ve been against for along time now and I still am. Being able to know the killers or survivors perks without coming up against them. Let’s say the killer is using Noed, a perk that’s meant to surprise survivors at the end of the game, it’s now invalid because you know about it. The killer using Devour Hope? You are hunting instantly. Killer using BBQ or Nurses calling, well your play style has adapted. And I can’t even imagine this perk in swf. Instead I’d make it you see the aura of the killer and your team for 10/20/30 seconds.

Sheer fear - As long as it can’t be used in a chase AND the killer can pick up a survivor if they see them do it then sure.

Deathly Still - This sounds fine, personally I think it should be slightly longer (maybe 6/7/8 seconds?) because if the killer sees it start moving randomly they know someone is very close by.

    Power

This sounds very interesting actually. A 105% movement speed killer with no map pressure but amazing in chases with 120% movement speed, with a way to counter the anti healing meta. Personally I’m for it, sounds like something I’d want to face.

I think those were some pretty good suggestions. I was bit unsure with the Superstition perk, but I think your suggestion is a bit better. I'll incoporate what you said. Thanks for the feedback!

Great concept! I'd love La Llorona as killer in the game. I love Mexican culture, so such a chapter would be fine for me. In DBD we have two Japanese chapters, one Western, it's would be nice if there is also Mexican chapter (and Egyptian, but it's an idea for a different concept). You didn't give an idea for a map in your concept, but I would love to see a map of the cemetery arranged for the feast of Dia de Los Muertos. According to legends, La Llorona prowls the swamps, but we already have two swamps in the game, besides, the developers could make their version of La Llorona. Once again, a great concept! :)

A graveyard sounds like it would be a pretty neat map for the killer! I had also thought that maybe a little pueblito could also fit the theme with a river crossing through the middle of the map. I'd at one point wanted to update the post with some lore for the killer and a description of the map, but forgot about it at some point. I might try to start that again and update the post.
